WLAN menggunakan standar IEEE 802.11 dimana semua pengguna dalam satu area berkomunikasi melalui sebuah AP yang diletakkan pada suatu daerah tertentu. Dalam proses propagasi, kuat sinyal akan membentuk suatu karakteristik kualitas sinyal dimana akan terjadi penguatan ataupun pelemahan level sinyal pada sisi penerima. Kualitas sinyal dipengaruhi oleh faktor profil gedung dan penghalang antara pemancar dan penerima. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik indoor propagasi dari WLAN yang berbasis IEEE 802.11n dan IEEE 802.11b/g, dengan cara mengukur RSSI, throughput, dan delay. Pada propagasi NLOS, nilai RSSI terbaik untuk AP 802.11n diperoleh pada jarak 1,27 meter yaitu sebesar -42 dBm, nilai RSSI terendah diperoleh jarak 8,86 meter yaitu sebesar -71 dBm. Sedangkan nilai throughputtertinggi adalah 7,31 Mbps, dan nilai throughput terendah sebesar 2,09 Mbps. Untuk AP 802.11g, nilai RSSI tertinggi diperoleh pada jarak 1,27 meter yaitu sebesar -28 dBm, nilai RSSI terendah diperoleh pada jarak 2,41 meter yaitu sebesar -70 dBm. Sedangkan nilai throughput tertinggi adalah 3,92 Mbps, dan nilai throughput terendah adalah 3,03 Mbps. Pada propagasi LOS, nilai RSSI terbaik untuk AP 802.11n diperoleh pada jarak 3,9 meter yaitu sebesar -47 dBm, nilai RSSI terendah diperoleh jarak 4,88 meter yaitu sebesar -52 dBm. Sedangkan nilai throughput tertinggi adalah 11,3 Mbps, dan nilai throughput terendah adalah 11,1Mbps. Untuk AP 802.11g, nilai RSSI tertinggi diperoleh pada 1,75 meter yaitu sebesar -47 dBm, nilai RSSI terendah diperoleh pada jarak 4,88 meter yaitu sebesar -50 dBm.
