Museum juga dimanfaatkan sebagai sarana pendidikan, penelitian dan hiburan. Di Kota Banda Aceh terdapat dua museum yang bisa dikunjungi, yaitu museum tsunami aceh dan Museum Negeri Aceh. Dalam perkembangannya, bila dibandingkan dengan museum tsunami aceh, pengunjung Museum Negeri Aceh masih sedikit. Hal ini karena ketertarikan pengunjung terhadap museum tersebut jauh berkurang dari museum tsunami aceh, terlihat jelas bahwa museum tsunami aceh memiliki bangunan yang bagus, dan rasa ingin tahu terhadap peristiwa tsunami yang terjadi di masa lalu membuat pengunjung lebih menarik. Namun, sebagai museum yang menyimpan dan memamerkan kebudayaan aceh, Museum Negeri Aceh juga sangat penting untuk diketahui. Sehingga sejarah dan kebudayaan daerah tidak akan hilang begitu saja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meramalkan jumlah pengunjung museum di masa akan datang guna mengantisipasi kemungkinan yang terjadi dimasa depan. Peramalan jumlah pengunjung Museum Negeri Aceh dimasa akan datang menggunakan metode dekomposisi, karena plot data jumlah pengunjung Museum Negeri Aceh yang dihasilkan merupakan pola data musiman. Data yang digunakan adalah data jumlah pengunjung Museum Negeri Aceh tahun 2008 sampai tahun 2014. Metode peramalan dekomposisi terdiri dari dua model, yaitu model multiplikatif dan model aditif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis model terbaik yang digunakan untuk meramalkan jumlah pengunjung museum di tahun 2015 adalah metode peramalan dekomposisi model aditif, dengan nilai kesalahan terkecil yaitu MAE = 269, MSE = 149.098, MPE = -5,4 dan MAPE = 17,9.
