This research was aimed at studying the effects of organic Guano and inorganic NPK fertilizer on oil palm seedling growth on sub soil growing media. The experiment was conducted in a pot, arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD), factorial 4x3  with 3 replicates. There were two factors examined, 1) guano dose  consisting of four levels, namely: 0 kg, 0.5 kg, 1.0 kg and 1.5 kg/polybags and 2) inorganic fertilizers NPK consisting of three levels, namely: 0, 15, and 30 g/polybags. The results showed that subsoil can be used for growing media with applications of fertilizer Guano and inorganic NPK fertilizer. Guano and NPK fertilizer affected several soil chemical properties, i.e. increase in soil pH, available total C and N and P, and cation exchange capacity (CEC) and affected growth of oil palm seedling at age 16 weeks after planting. The research was conducted at Experiment Station of Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam Banda Aceh, from June to October 2010. The experiment used a randomized complete block design (RCBD), 3 x 2 with three replications. Factors studied were types of organic fertilizer, consisting of compost and cow manure and varieties, consisting of TM-999 and local varieties. Variables observed were plant height at ages of 15, 30 and 45 days after planting (DAP), number of productive branches, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, yield per plot and production per ha. Results showed that there was no significant interaction between organic fertilizer types and varieties on all observed variables. Organic fertilizers did not significantly affect plant height at ages of 15, 30 and 45 DAP, productive branches at age of 75 DAP, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, yield per plot, and yield per ha.  Varieties significantly affected plant height at age of 30 DAP, number of fruits per plant, but did not significantly affected plant height at ages 15 and 45 DAP, number of productive branches at age of 75 DAP, fruit weight per plant, yield per plot, and yield per ha. This study used a factorial complete ramdomized design with 8 combination of treatments and 4 replications. There were two factors studied, dose and timing of Trichoderma. Four level doses factor were studied, i.e. 75, 150, 225, and 300 g.polybag-1, while timing of application consisted of 2 levels, 7 days before planting and at the planting time. The observed variables were germination rate, incubation period, length of lesion formed on the base of the stem, and dry weight of seeds per plant. Data of variables observed was analized by analysis of variance and followed by least significance different test at level 5%.  The results showed that dose of Trichoderma gave a significant effect on seed germination rate, incubation period, length of lesion and dry weight of seed per plant. Dose of Trichoderma 300 g.polibag-1 was the best and gave  germination rate of seed up to 84,38%, incubation period 8 days, length of lesion 1,35 cm and dry weight of seed 24,13 g. The timing of application gave a significant effect only on dry weight of seed per plant.  The best timing of application was found at 7days before planting and no interaction between doses and time of application of Trichoderma. The design used was a randomized complete block design with 4 replicates. Papaya genotypes tested were  BT-01, BT-02, BT-03, and BT-04. The results showed that papaya genotypes of  BT-01, BT-02, BT-03, and BT-04 were not significantly different each other on physical fruit characters i.e. fruit length, fruit width, fruit weight, and stem length.  However, the thinnest fruit flesh was found at BT-3 genotype and the thicknest flesh was at BT-2 genotype.
