<text>The utilization of brewery waste in ration to improved the quality of lamb meatABSTRACT. An experiment has been conducted to study the utilization of brewery waste in ration to improved the meat quality of lamb. High quality of lamb meat can be reached by manipulation of rumen fermentation. Tannins in brewery waste can decrease the activity of rumen microorganism and inhibite the rumen biohydrogenation processes. The experiment was conducted with an experimental method by in vivo technique, using 16 heads of local lamb, 4-5 months old, with body weight range of 5-10 kg.  The trial was conducted for 150 days, using Completely Randomized Block Design with 4 replicates. The treatment tested were 4 levels of Brewery Waste : R1 = 12%; R2 = 24%; R3 = 36% and R4 = 48%. The variables measured were : physical and chemical quality of meat. The result indicated, that the treatment tested significantly affect the meat quality physically, except to the percentage of edible distal meat and proximal bone weight.Based on the all variables measured, the research conclusion : (1) the utilization of brewery waste up to 48% dry matter  ration, could be used, without any physiology and metabolism disturbance; (2) the highest increasing of unsaturated fatty acid was stearic acid (C18:0) as much as 54. 60%, was reach by R3 (36% brewery waste); the linoleic acid increased as much as 43.91% reach by R4 (48% brewery waste);  the oleic acid increased as much as 37.48% by R2 ( 24% brewery waste). From the result can be suggested that the need of tannin brewery waste as biohydrogenation inhibitor would be more effective and efficient whenever brewery waste usage has been increased up to 60% dry matter ration.</text>

<text>The purpose of this study was to compare different sources of flours and protein sources based on soya bean products in producing vegetarian nugget. Factorial experimental design with three replications was employed where wheat, sweet potato, sago and banana flour as one factor, and tempeh and tofu as another factor. Moisture and raw protein content of vegetarian nuggets produced in this study was in accordance with the Indonesia Standard (SNI). Moisture was less than 60 percent and raw protein was above 12 percent. The highest organoleptic test was obtained from the nugget made of the combination of sago as filler and tofu as protein source. The nugget contained 60.00, 14.89, 28.89 and 2.00 percent of moisture, raw protein, raw fat and ash content, respectively. The organoleptic scores were 2.70, 3.58, 3.50, 3.53 and 3.62 for color, aroma, taste, texture and springiness, respectively. Keywords: nugget, vegetarian nugget, filler</text>

<text>Abstract. Fish silage is a liquid product from fish by product preserved in acid, and could potentially be used as feedstuff. The fish sialge can be produced through both biological andchemical methods, however to date  the the quality of result was low, therefore this study was crucially needed. The research objective was to acquire the right method to improve the nutritional quality of fish silage and produce cheap fish feed ingredients. The factorial completely randomized design was used in the study. The first treatment was the effect of various types of organic acids (formic acid, propionic acid, benzoic acid, sorbic acid, citric acid, acetic acid) and LAB (Lactobacillus casei) to fish silage quality. The second treatment was the effect fermentation time (3, 7 and 14 days) to fish silage quality. The results showed that the highest protein content (45.95%) was occured on treatment using L. casei with fermentation time of 14 days. The highest fat content (5.87%) wasfound on treatment using  L. casei with fermentation time of 14 days. In addition, the lower protein content (30.02%) is occured on treatment using propionic acid  with fermentation time of 3 days, while the lowest fat content (4.77%) was occured on treatment using benzoic acid with fermentation time of 3 days. It was concluded that the best quality of  fish silage was occured on treatment using   L. casei with fermentation time of 14 days. Keywords : fish silage; organic acid; LAB Abstrak.

<text>Efforts to find microbes in microbiological examination of material are carried out by means of isolation and identification of microorganisms from the examination material. Isolation was carried out using culture medium. Use a medium for the isolation and identification are closely related with one of Koch's postulates, that is causing the infection must be cultured in the laboratory. Research on the use of expired blood as a medium of isolation and identification of Streptococcus pyogenes has been performed. The aim study is to determine the viability of the colony and the size of the zone of hemolysis of Streptococcus pyogenes in the blood as a medium expired. Materials use is expired blood 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks. Isolation procedures and identification of Streptococcus pyogenes include Gram stain, type of hemolysis, catalase test, and test basitrasin. The results showed the blood expired before four weeks show the number of colonies was almost the same viability with sheep blood agar medium and large blood hemolysis zone are also nearly equal to expire so that the blood of sheep prior to 4 weeks. Thus the blood is exceeded before the 4 weeks can be used as media for the isolation and identification of Streptococcus pyogenes</text>
