Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bimbingan yang diberikan orang tua dalam upaya pencegahan dan penyelesaian masalah siswa yang berasal dari MAN Rukoh Darussalam, Banda Aceh. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa/i kelas XI berjumlah 75 orang siswa. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode questioner (angket) dengan metode skala likert. Penelitian ini mengunakan teknik analisis data deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat sebagian besar bimbingan orang tua dalam upaya mencegah dan menyelesaikan masalah siswa berwujud dalam dukungan emosi 52,0%, penghargaan 80,0%, dukungan fisik 58,7%, dukungan informasi 56,0% serta dukungan waktu 60,0% pada MAN Rukoh Darussalam, Banda Aceh. Dari hasil penelitian ini di harapkan orang tua dapat terus memberikan bimbingan yang terbaik bagi anak (remaja) khususnya dalam hal mencegah dan menyelesaikan masalah siswa. Masalah utama pada usia ini yaitu masalah kepatuhan remaja untuk tetap memelihara kebersihan gigi dan mulutnya. Status kebersihan gigi dan mulut dapat ditentukan dengan menggunakan Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified (OHI-S) yang menjumlahkan Debris Index-Simplified (DI-S) dan Calculus Index-Simplified (CI-S), masing-masing dari indeks tersebut ditentukan dari jumlah debris dan kalkulus pada 6 permukaan gigi. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut terhadap indeks oral hygiene pada siswa SMPN 1 Banda Aceh. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional, dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 70 orang siswa yang berusia 13-15 tahun pada SMPN 1 Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pemeriksaan klinis dengan metode Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified (OHI-S) untuk melihat status kebersihan gigi dan mulut serta kuisioner untuk melihat tingkat pengetahuan siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan sebanyak 45,7% siswa memiliki pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut baik dengan indeks oral hygiene juga baik. Oral health status is influenced by several factors such as knowledge and age, whether children and adolescents. Adolescent period is a transition from children to adult, ranging from 13 to 21 years old. Compliance is a major problem during this age period. The oral hygiene status was assessed by using Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified (OHI - S) which amount of Debris Index-Simplified (DI-S) and Calculus Index-Simplified (CI-S). Index oral hygiene were determined from the amount of debris and calculus on the six teeth surface. The aim of this research was determine the relationship between oral health knowledge level of oral hygiene index on students SMPN 1 Banda Aceh. The design of this study is analytic survey with a cross sectional study, the research subjects were 70 students among 13-15 years old students of SMPN 1 Banda Aceh. Data regarding oral hygiene index was recorded with Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified (OHI-S) and questionnaire to know the level of oral health knowledge. The results of this study showed as many as 45.7% of students have a good oral health knowledge and oral hygiene index was also good.
