Vitamin B1 (tiamin) adalah salah satu vitamin yang digunakan sebagai terapi untuk pencegahan infeksi yang disebabkan oleh jamur. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi ekstrak etil asetat bawang putih dengan tiamin terhadap aktivitas Candida albicans. Uji fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat bawang putih mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid dan saponin. Uji aktivitas menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat bawang putih pada konsentrasi 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% dan ekstrak kental memiliki aktivitas dalam penghambatan Candida albicans dengan diameter zona hambat masing-masing adalah 11,63; 17,99; 26,62; 29,02; dan 41,78 mm. Uji kombinasi ekstrak etil asetat bawang putih dengan tiamin menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi pada konsentrasi 50% mampu menghambat aktivitas Candida albicans dengan diameter zona hambat sebesar 31,63 mm.Kata kunci: Bawang putih, Kandidiasis, Candida albicans, Etil asetat.ABSTRACTGarlic ( allium sativum linn ) is plants that have the potential to herbs as antifungal. Vitamin B1 (thiamine) is one of the vitamin that is often used as therapy for prevention of infection caused by fungi. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of ethyl acetate of garlic extract alone and it combination with thiamine against Candida albicans activity. Phytochemistry assay showed that ethyl acetate of garlic extract containing a metabolite secondary such as alkaloid, flavonoid and saponin. Ethyl acetate extract of garlic have inhibitory activity against Candida albicans at concentrations of 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and extract viscous with diameter of inhibition zone was 11.63; 17.99; 26.62; 29.02; and 41.78 mm, respectively. The combination of ethyl acetate extract of garlic with thiamine showed at consentration 50% have inhibitory activity against Candida albicans with diameter of inhibition zone was 31,63 mm.Keywords: Garlic, Candidiasis, Candida albicans, Ethyl acetate. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan pengaruh konsentrasi humektan terhadap stabilitas gel ekstrak etanol daun jambu biji. Ekstrak etanol daun jambu biji 5% diformulasikan dalam bentuk gel dengan perbandingan konsentrasi humektan (gliserin dan propilenglikol) 10%:5% (FI), 12%:6% (FII), 14%:7% (FIII) dan 16%:8% (FIV). Stabilitas sifat fisik gel diuji selama 4 minggu pada suhu kamar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa FI dan FIV lebih stabil dibandingkan dengan FII dan III ditinjau dari organoleptik dan homogenitas. Peningkatan konsentrasi humektan FI, FII, dan FIII menurunkan viskositas kecuali pada FIV yang mengalami peningkatan viskositas. Nilai pH keempat formula berada pada rentang pH 6-7. Nilai rata-rata uji daya sebar keempat formula berada pada nilai ? 5 cm. Hasil analisa dengan ANOVA dan uji LSD menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan konsentrasi humektan memiliki pengaruh secara signifikan terhadap daya sebar pada FI dengan FII, FI dengan FIII serta FII dengan FIV berbeda signifikan dengan nilai signifikan yaitu 0,007; 0,045 dan 0,044.Kata kunci: gel, humektan, stabilitas sifat fisik, viskositas, daya sebarABSTRACTThe ethanol extract of guava leaves (Psidium guajava Linn) has the potential to accelerate the wound healing process. This study aims to determine the effect of humectant concentration of the ethanol extract gel stability of guava leaves. The ethanol extract of guava leaves 5% formulated in the form of a gel with concentrations of glycerin humectant and propilenglikol with a ratio 10%:5% (FI), 12%:6% (FII), 14%:7% (FIII) and 16%:8% (FIV). The stability of the physical properties of the gel was tested for 4 weeks at room temperature. The results obtained showed that the FI and FIV were more stable than the FII and III in terms of organoleptic and homogeneity. Increasing the humectant concentration of FI, FII, and FIII reducing their viscosity except on FIV increasing viscosity. PH values of the of formulas were the range of pH 6-7. The average value of the spreadability of tested formulas was values ? 5 cm. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol daun kemangi terhadap pertumbuhan Escherichia coli dan konsentrasi yang paling efektif dapat menghambat pertumbuhan Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimental laboratorium dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan (P1,P2,P3,P4,) serta control negative (P0) dan positif (P5) dengan 4 kali ulangan.Pengujian daya hambat dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode difusi cakram. Ekstrak etanol daun kemangi dengan konsentrasi 25% (P1), 50% (P2), 75% (P3), 100% (P4), akuades sebagai control negatif(P0)dan kloramfenikol sebagai control positif (P5). Masing-masing cakram direndam selama 30 menit.Parameter yang diamati yaitu diameter zona hambat yang terbentuk. Data dianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Variace (ANOVA) dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT). Hasil uji antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun Kemangi dengan konsentrasi 25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100% mampu membentuk zona hambat rata-rata sebesar 8,75 mm, 9,50 mm, 13,75 mm, dan 14,50 mm. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Field Lab, Jurusan Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Univeritas Syiah Kuala, tanggal 13 Februari-20 Maret 2015. Penelitian ini menggunakan 100 ekor DOC ayam broiler, strain CP 707, produksi PT. Charoen Pokphand Jaya Farm, Medan. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Setiap ulangan merupakan unit percobaan masing-masing terdiri dari 5 ekor ayam. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah, selama periode starter ransum komersil 511 Novo disubstitusi dengan menir+bungkil kelapa sebanyak 0 (R1),1.5+1 (R2), 3+2 (R3), 4+3 (R4), dan 6+4% (R5). Selama periode grower/finisher, ransum komersil 512 Novo disubstitusi dengan menir+bungkil kelapa sebanyak 0 (R1), 3+2 (R2), 6+4 (R3), 9+6 (R4), dan 12+8% (R5). Masing-masing perlakuan R2-R5 ditambah marolis sebanyak 0.5-1 ml/l air. Data dianalisis dengan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), jika terdapat perbedaan yang nyata, dilanjutkan dengan uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (Steel dan Torrie, 1993). Parameter yang diukur adalah berat badan akhir, pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi ransum, dan FCR. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa substitusi ransum komersil dengan menir+bungkil kelapa sampai 20% ditambah marolis dalam air minum tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0.05) terhadap berat badan, pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi ransum, dan FCR ayam broiler. Penggunaan marolis melalui air minum membantu menurunkan angka kematian ayam broiler.
