_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________</text>

<text>The research was based on a preliminary study on the causes of problems related to the students’ inability to speak English. One of the research objectives is to describe the atmosphere in improving speaking by using activities in the Information Gap Technique (IGT). The researcher and the collaborator worked together in designing the lesson plans, implementing the actions, making observations and reflecting on the results. The subjects of this research study were second semester students from the English Department at Almuslim University. This study was conducted in three cycles following the procedures for action research, namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. To collect data, the researcher used instruments of observations, lists, tests and questionnaires. The data obtained was presented in two ways, qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings showed that IGT activities were effective in improving the speaking abilities of the student in class. This can be seen from the improvements after each cycle. This can be seen by the rise in the students’ mean scores in the test results: 58.8 in the first cycle, 68 in the second cycle and 81.3 in the third cycle. Improvement was also seen based on the results from the observations that showed positivity, and good responses from the students. From the questionnaire results, it was found that the mean score for the students’ perception was 3,616. This means that the students responded positively to the implementation of this technique.</text>

<text>A comparative study of Model Predictive Control (MPC) using active-set method and interior point methods is proposed as a control technique for highly non-linear pH process. The process is a strong acid-strong base system. A strong acid of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and a strong base of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) with the presence of buffer solution sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) are used in a neutralization process flowing into reactor. The non-linear pH neutralization model governed in this process is presented by multi-linear models. Performance of both controllers is studied by evaluating its ability of set-point tracking and disturbance-rejection. Besides, the optimization time is compared between these two methods; both MPC shows the similar performance with no overshoot, offset, and oscillation. However, the conventional active-set method gives a shorter control action time for small scale optimization problem compared to MPC using IPM method for pH control.</text>

<text>Purpose: This paper is a report of a survey to describe and compare the level of knowledge and comparethese knowledge between community health volunteers (CHVs) working in the tsunami affected and nonaffectedareas in Aceh Province, Indonesia Method: 144 CHVs from six districts in Aceh were studied duringNovember 2011 to January 2012 to evaluate their level knowledge regarding emergency care during disasterbetween CHVs working in Tsunami affected areas and non Tsunami affected areas. The knowledge wasassessed by using the Community Health Volunteers’ Knowledge Regarding Emergency Care Questionnaire(CHVK-ECQ) with 30-statement true/false. The composite scores of each area and the total score werecalculated and transformed to percentage for ease of presentation. Results: Overall, the CHVs’ knowledge inemergency care during disaster in Aceh was at a high level in both groups. However, subjects in non-affectedareas had significantly higher mean rank of the overall knowledge than those in the affected areas (p = .02).In the tsunami area the highest mean score was for the disaster triage dimension (M= 80.62%), and thelowest mean score was in the first Aid (60.48 %). And on the contrary in the non tsunami areas the highestmean score was for First Aid (84.52 %) and the lowers mean score was for disaster triage (64. 38 %).Conclusion: This finding indicated that although both groups had high levels of overall knowledge, educationprogram for improved knowledge in the areas of first aid, team organization, and disaster triage should beestablished to refresh the CHVs’ knowledge and skills for the disaster management. Keywords: Knowledge, skills, community health volunteers, and natural disaster </text>

<text>Abstract - The present study explores the extent of conceptual resemblance between traditional and contemporary murabahah contracts. In order to assess the discrepancies, qualitative and quantitative content analyses are applied as research methodology. In particular, discrepancies of the conceptual basis of the two contracts are evaluated by content analysis through graphical presentation. The results of this study affirm that the critique raised against contemporary contracts is indeed justified. The comparative analysis of the conceptual differences between traditional and contemporary murabahah contracts leads to the conclusion that the contemporary murabahah contract is in inverse relation to the traditional murabahah contract.  </text>

<text>Abstract - Reproduction is one of the important physiological systems that are crucial in the life cycle of living organisms including fish. The main objective of the reproduction is to maintain the existence of the species and therefore fish have a strategies and tactics to achieve this objective. The reproduction behaviours are important to be studied in relation to know the population dynamic of fishes and their spawning seasons. This information is very crucial in relation to the development of breeding technology for aquaculture and conservation (restocking) purposes. This paper reviews the reproductive strategy, fecundity and spawning frequency of fishes. Keywords: Fecundity; Spawning frequency; Gonadal development; Synchronous; gonadosomoatic index</text>

<text>A highly antibacterial of hollow fiber polyethersulfone (PES) membrane was prepared by loading silver nanoparticles within the PES graft acrylamide (AAm)-membrane. The grafted layers of AAm were provided the matrix for silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) entrapment. The characterization of the prepared hollowfiber (HF) PES membrane loaded with silver nanoparticles were examined by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). To examine the antibacterial property of the prepared AgNPs-AAm-PES membrane, the halo zone and the shaking flask test were carried out. In these tests, both of unmodified PES membrane and AgNPs-AAm-PES membrane were exposed to pure culture suspension of Escherichia coli (E. Coli) bacteria with the concentration of 107 CFU/ml. The viable bacteria formed within the membrane surfaces and themembrane circumferences were observed by the halo zone formation, while the percentage of bacteria killing ratio was determined by shaking flask test method. The TEM results showed that the silver nanoparticles were formed within grafted layers of AAm-PES membrane and the size of silver nanoparticleswere about 10 nm. The AgNPs-AAm-PES membrane were highly effective to prevent the membrane biofouling as shown by the clearly halo zone formation compared with the unmodified PES membrane. The shake flask test were also revealed that almost 99.9 percent of the E. coli bacteria were killed when theyhaving exposed to the AgNPs-AAm-PES membrane. This was due to the silver ions are allowed to release from its membrane surface</text>

<text>Abstract - A mesoscale meteorological model of modified land cover to the effect of urban heat island (UHI) in Jakarta was done. Although higher temperature in the city has been generally known, factors and issues that result in the increase of temperature particularly nighttime temperature over the city, however, are not well-understood. Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is encountering urbanization problems foremost. The increasing demand of housing as well as rapid development of sky crapper building, market places and highway diminishes the vegetation which in turn trap heat in the troposphere throughout the year, particularly during dry season on June-August. The fifth-generation mesoscale meteorological model (MM5) was employed in the study. The model involves medium range forecast planetary boundary layer (MRF PBL) scheme and land surface with two following parameters: i.e. roughness length over land and thermal inertia of land. These two parameters are chosen to enhance the characteristics of land surface. The simulation was carried out for 3 days on August 5-7, 2004 during dry season. The results showed that the simulation of surface temperature done by MM5 modified land cover described a good comparison to that of weather observation data. As a result, the effect of UHI was also well-observed during day-time. In addition, MM5 modified land cover simulation also illustrated a well-development of sea-breeze and country-breeze during mid-day and nighttime, respectively. However, long-term simulation is still required. Thus, daily diurnal cycles of air temperature and their differences can be well-observed in detail.</text>

<text>Banda Aceh recently received Adiupaya Puritama award, an award given by the Housing Ministry for cities that have successfully manage its housing and settlement. While there is no doubt that Banda Aceh has made a good achievement in terms of providing housing for its residents, there is always a room for an evaluation of the previous and upcoming policy to improve and to develop a more effective housing policy. Similar to many cities in Indonesia, Banda Aceh experience massive urbanization although in a much smaller scale compare to Jakarta or Surabaya. This has been affected housing stocks in Banda Aceh, in particular the need for more affordable housing for low income residents, which were mostly provided during the tsunami reconstruction program. On the other hand, there is an intense plan to develop a vertical housing (Rusun) to fulfil the need for affordable housing for the public as the land price is increasing. This paper attempts to look at both available affordable housing stocks and upcoming plan of affordable housing for low income residents to support local authorities and other key players in delivering higher quality of affordable housing in Banda Aceh</text>
