<text>(The effect of molasses and lactic acid bacteria isolated from rumen fluid of PO cattle on napier grass silage quality)ABSTRACT. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of molasses as carbohydrate source and inoculums of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) incubated from PO cattle’s rumen fluid on the quality of Napier grass (pennisetum purpureum) silages. The research was conducted at Gemawang village Jambu District Semarang Regency. Feed analysis was carried out in Laboratory Biochemical Nutrition, Animal Feed Science, Animal Science Faculty, Gadjah Mada University. This study was assigned into Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 3 replicated. The treatments were addition of molasses and LAB level into the Napier grass; 0, 1, 3 and 5% (w/w) and incubated for 30 days Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the significant effect was tested by Duncan ,s Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the addition of 1 – 5% molases significantly affected (P<0,05) lactic acid content, pH, and NH3 concentration. Increasing level of molases significantly (P<0,05) increased lactic acid content, decreased pH and NH3 concentration of Napier grass silage. However, among the treatment groups of 1, 3 and 5 % of molases was not significant (P<0,05) different on the lactic acid content, pH and NH3 concentration. Dry matter and organic matter content of Napier grass silage were not significantly (P<0,05) affected by treatments . </text>

<text>Profile microbiological of pollard fermented with extract of waste vegetable market in different long ripened ABSTRACT. The purpose of fermentation is to produce a product (material feed) that have nutritional content, texture and better biological availability, while it also can reduce the anti-nutritional. Microorganisms are often used as probiotics in feed is kind of Lactobacillus sp and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Microorganisms are able to produce secondary metabolites such as β -glucan, mannan oligosaccharides and anti-cancer. Very familier as probiotic Lactobacillus among humans or livestock , while saccharomyces cerevisiae have specific characteristics in animal feed because of its ability to produce glutamic acid which can increase feed palatability. Grant Saccharomyces cerevisie can enhance digest protein and fiber, such as cellulose and hemicellulose , with Sacaromyces cerevisiea supplementation can increase the rate of short-chain fatty acids in cecum and suppresses the growth of bacteria from the Enterobacteriaceae species. Observing the above, needed an activity to find additional engineering efforts antibiotics as a source of natural probiotic , prebiotic and synbiotic on the particular poultry and livestock in general, to take advantage of the waste as a probiotic supplement that naturally produced feed additives to support healthy organic livestock production and economically.</text>

<text>(Feedstuff Quality Improvement of Broiler Chicken with Two-Steps Fermentation by Trichoderma reseei and Saccaromyces cerevisiae)ABSTRAK. The aim of this study was to improve the quality of animal feedstuff from agriculture waste product i.e. corn cob, tapioca solid waste and soy bean pulp by two-steps fermentation using Trichoderma reseei as cellulotlytic microorganisms and yeast Saccaromyces cerevisiae as protein source. This fermented product the was used in broiler chicken in vivo test. A Completely Randomized Design with four treatments: R0(100% basal feed/BF); R1(100% BF+10% fermented corn cob); R2 (100% BF+10% fermented tapioca solid waste); R3(100% BF+10% fermented soy bean pulp). Each treatments were replicated for 5 times. The variables response tested were quality of feedstuffs before and after fermentation of protein, NDF and ADF digestibilities on broiler chicken in vivo test. The result indicated that the protein content after fermentation has increased but reduced in NDF and ADF fiber. Two steps fermentation had not improved significantly to protein digestibility (P>0.05), but basic ration with fermented soybean pulp significantly improved (P<0.01) on protein digestibility.</text>

The experiment aimed to determine the effect of using Noni fruit powder (NFP) up to 10 percent in the ration on digestive organs weight of male broiler chickens fed commercial feed. A hundred day old male broiler chickens were used in this experiment. Chickens were divided into five treatment groups; R0 (control, chickens fed commercial feed without offering NFP), R1 (the ration contained 2.5 % of NFP), R2 (the ration contained 5 % of NFP), R3 (the ration contained 7.5 % of NFP) and R4 (the ration contained 10 % of NFP). Each treatment group was replicated 4 times. Chickens were housed in the colony cages where 5 chickens each. The ration and drinking water were offered ad libitum. Parameters measured were feed intake, slaughter weight, gizzard weight, liver weight, small intestine weight and length. The results showed that using Noni fruit powder in the ration up to 10 percent caused no significant different effect on all parameters. It concluded that Noni fruit powder can be mixed into the ration up to 10 percent without any adverse effect on the digestive organs.</text>

<text>Growth performance of white rat (Rattus norvegicus) fed by various of shrimp waste levelsABSTRACT. The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) The effect of shrimp waste levels in experimental diets on feed intake, daily weight gain, and feed convertion (F/G) of white rats; (2) Optimal level of shrimp waste in white rat diets; and (3) The responses of both male and female white rats to shrimp waste levels. 15 male and 15 female white rats were given pellet ration contain shrimp waste for four weeks. The experimental design used in this research is Completely Randomized Design with 2 x 5 factorial arrangement in 3 replications. The A factor was sex (male and female) and the B factor was shrimp waste levels in ration (0% as control. 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%). The parameters determined are feed intake, weight gain, and feed convertion of white rats. The results indicate that shrimp waste levels in ration was significantly (P<0.05) affect the dry matter intake, whereas the effect on weight gain and feed convertion of white rats was highly significant (P<0.01). Sex was significantly affect weight gain (P<0.05%), however it was not significance (P>0.05%) on dry matter intake and feed convertion of white rats. There were no interaction (P>0.05%) between shrimp waste levels in ration and sex of white rats. The conclusion of this research that shrimp waste levels in ration of white rats increase dry matter intake and daily weight gain. Whereas, it decreased feed convertion. The optimal level of shrimp waste in the diet for daily weight gain was 19.44%, while optimal feed convertion 16.62%. Male daily weight gain was higher than female. </text>

<text>Effect of thawing technique to quality frozen semen spermatozoa in bali, madura and PO cattleABSTRACT. The experiment was conducted from November 2011 to January 2012 in BBIB Singosari. The study aims was to determine the effect of thawing techniques on the quality frozen bovine sperm Bali, Madura and PO cattle. This material used 90 frozen straw of three cattle from the three breed. The method is an experiment with three treatments and 10 replications for frozen to thawing in temperature water is 5 0C of duration 60 seconds, 15 0C duration 30 seconds and 37 0C duration 15 seconds. Variables observed in this study were sperm quality are motility, viability and abnormality. Data in percentage transformed in to arcus sinus were analyzed using Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with replication as blocks of 10x. The results showed the thawing at 37 0C duration 15 seconds to highly significant effect (P<0,01) viability and motility and significant effect (P<0.05). The abnormalities, no significant effect (P>0,05). Breed cattle not significant effect to quality. It can be concluded that thawing techniques impact the motility and viability in frozen bovine semen spermatozoa Bali, Madura and PO cattle. Thawing using 37 0C temperature water with duration of 15 seconds is the best method to obtain the quality of spermatozoa post thawing frozen sperm.</text>

<text>Mineral content of Cu and Fe in plasma and hair in related to anemia cases on female goatABSTRACT. A research had been done to identify mineral content of Cu and Fe in plasma and hair related to anemia case on female goat. Twenty female local goats at the age of 12-16 months taken from Kecamatan Darussalam and Kecamatan Baitussalam Kabupaten Aceh Besar were applied. The goats taken have the criteria of hemoglobin rate (Hb) and/or Packed Cell Volume (PCV) lower than normal level. Hair and blood were sampled in this research. Hair samples were taken from top tail area, while blood samples were taken from jugular vein. The result indicated that the average rate of Hb was 77 ± 0.7 mg/dl and PCV was 191 ± 1.3%. The average rate of Cu and Fe in plasma was 0.7 ± 0.16 and 67.8 ± 10.3 μg/ml, while in hair was 2.40 ± 0.511 and 315 ± 8.4 μg/g. The average rate of Cu in plasma was categorized as below normal, while the average rate of Fe in the range of marginal. Regression analysis showed that there was close correlation between Hb rates and PCV as well as the correlation of Hb rate and Cu rate in hair. However, there was no close correlation between Hb rate and Fe rate in hair. The conclusion of the research implied that the amount of PCV and Cu rate in hair relevant to the Hb rate in blood, and could subsequently predict anemia case occurring on female goats. </text>

<text>Identification of production system and productivity level of fat tailed sheep in brebes regency of central javaABSTRACT. Reproductive performance is one of the main determinants of productivity of the sheep. This applies to the breeding of animal for meat production. High reproduction rates are essential for profit in meat sheep production and determined by the number of progeny delivered in a given period of time. The level of reproductive performance is dependent on the interaction of genetic and environmental factors. The evaluation of reproductive performance of a local and adapted breed of sheep such as Fat Tailed Sheep can provide important information to understand its productive potential under local production system. The study was designed to identify characteristic of production system and to find out the level productivity of Fat Tailed Sheep in Brebes areas of Central Java. Livestock On-Farm Trials (LOFT) using multistage sampling was implemented in this study. Descriptive and variance analysis using procedure of General Linear Model (GLM) was applied in this study. This study revealed that (1) In general, production system in Brebes is based on integration scheme of crop livestock in the form of traditional smallholders. In low land area, mostly extensive and tethering model were implemented. Intensive and semi intensive model was found in landless area. (2) Average litter size at birth was 1.54 head and dominated by double litter, followed by single and triplets (46.8, 47.88 and 4.29%). The highest preweaning lamb mortality was 15% with the average 8.9%. Ewe productivity ranges from 1.76-5.24 with average of 2.14 lamb/ewe/year. Least squares analysis of variance reveals that ewe reproduction rate was significantly affected by type of birth.</text>
