<text>Study on the level of water content and particle size of feed ingredients to the physical appearance of wafer ABSTRACT. This study attempted wafer manufacturing technology development of conventional feed ingredients. The benefit of wafer increase feed consumption and feed efficiency, increase the metabolizable energy content of the feed, kill pathogenic bacteria, reduce the amount of feed scattered, extending the storage time, ensure the balance of feed nutrients and vitamins to prevent oxidation. Research was continuing several research activities on wafer manufacturing technology that has been done and continues to be developed by the researchers. The long term goal of a series of research is to obtain basic information to the wafer manufacturing optimum quality and measurable. Specific target is to obtain basic information about the quality of the wafer on the level of water content and the use of a certain particle size. The research method used was experimental and analytical methods in the laboratory. The results showed that based on the test of physical qualities (moisture content, density, water absorption) showed that the use of the level of moisture content up to 8% with a particle size of 10-20 mm feed material provides the best physical appearance of wafer.</text>

<text>The effect of jaloh extract combined with probiotic and chromium on the haematology profiles and ND antibody vaccine of broiler given heat stressABSTRACT. The purpose of this study is to determine the respons of chicken broiler under heat stress that given drinking water contained extract jaloh combined with probiotic and Cr mineral in the profile of haematology and antibody respons of Newcastle Disease vaccine. Twenty four of 20-day old Cobb broiler chickens were randomly assigned and devided to 6 treatment groups. Completely randomized design was used in this study. The treatments were as follows: 1) chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract, probiotic, and chromium (P1); 2. chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract and probiotic (P2); 3. chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract and chromium (P3); chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract (P4); 5. chickens under heat stress without given jaloh extract nor chromium and probiotic (P5); and 6. chickens given no heat stress and jaloh extract nor chromium and probiotic (P6). Extract jaloh dose applied is 1.000 mg/lt water, dose of probiotic is 108 cfu/lt drinking water, and chromium given in the form of chloride chromium with dose 1000 ug/lt water. Local heat stress is provided by increasing cage temperature to the range of 33.0 ± 1°C during 5 hours per day u within 15 days. Jaloh extract, probiotic, and chromium treatments in drinking water were given at 2 hour before cage temperature reaching 33 ± 1oC and were stopped being given after 1 hour, when cage temperature back to room temperature. Blood was taken before chickens were ethanuatiated. The result suggested that giving jaloh extract to combine it with probiotic, and chromium has no significant effect in hematology profile. When combined extract jaloh with chromium (Cr), has potencial capability to stimulate improvement built of antibody (as immunomodulator) on broiler chicken heat stress.</text>

The Rumen microbes are capable to digest the glucosa polymer of plant waste for energy source and can used the Non Protein Nitrogen (NPN) for body protein synthesis, if the other precussor (Sulphur, Phospor and Branch Chain of Carbon) are available. To know the effectivity of the utilization of plant waste for energy, an experiment have been conducted by in vitro method, used the Randomized Black Design, four replication, factorial 33. The factors tested are : (1) three levels of energy : protein (E/P) ratio : 4, 5 and 6; (2) three levels of Nitrogen : Sulphur (N/S)ratio: 7.5, 10 and 12.5; (3) three levels of Calsium : Phospor (Ca/P) ratio : 0.5, 1 and 2. The variables measured are : synthesis of protein microbes (SPM) ; production of Volatile Fatty Acid (VFA) and Nitrogen Ammonia (N-NH3); the digestibility of substrat. Based on the all variable measured, the experiment can be concluded : (1) the effectivity of the utilization of rice straw will be increased if it used is fortified with 50 percent TDN as energy source (E/P=4), 0.20 percent dry matter of sulphur (N/S=10) and 0.0625 - 0.125 percent dry matter (DM) of phospor (Ca/P=1.0 – 2.0); (2) To stimulate the activity of cellulolytic microbes, its need the fortification of sulphur until reach the optimum level (must be investigated).</text>

<text>The effect of cabe cabe leaf (Lepidagathis javanica) in feed on broiler performanceABSTRACT. This study was conducted to determine the effect of using cabecabe leaf (Lepidagathis javanica) into the ration on broiler performance. Design of this experiment was assigned to Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in 4 treatments and 5 replications. Each replication contained 5 chickens. The treatments were R0 = basal ration (as control), R1 = 97.5% of basal ration + 2.5% of cabe cabe leaf, R2 = 95.0% of basal ration + 5.0% of cabe cabe leaf and R3 = 92.5% of basal ration + 7.5% of cabe cabe leaf. Basal ration composed by corn, rice bran, soybean meal, coconut meal, fish meal, coconut oil, mineral mix and premix. Parameter measured was feed consumption, daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio. To determine the effect of treatment on the parameter was analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the significant effect of treatment on the parameter was analyzed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Result of this study showed that using cabe cabe leaf into the ration significantly (P<0.05) decreased feed consumption. Daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio. Duncan’s Multiple Range Test showed that feed consumption and daily weight gain were significant (P<0.05) different between control and all level of cabe cabe leaf, however, feed conversion ratio was significant (P<0.05) different only between control and 7.5% of cabe cabe leaf in the ration. It is concluded that using 2.5% of cabe cabe leaf into the ration reduced feed consumption and daily weight gain but not influenced feed conversion ratio up to 5% of using cabe cabe leaf into the ration.</text>

<text>(Efficiency and digestibility feed of sheep given silage complete feed water hyacinth added starter lactobacillus plantarum)ABSTRACT. This study aims to determine the effect of a complete ration of silage made from water hyacinth on feed efficiency and digestibility. This study uses fifteen rams (12 months old with an average body weight of 19 ± 3.98 kg). The experimental was designed completely random. The sheeps were randomly divided into 3 treatments, and 4 replications. The sheeps wereted concentrate and fresh elephant grass (T0), silage-based rations complete without the addition of starter hyacinth L. plantarum (T1), and a complete ration silage made from water hyacinth by the addition of L. plantarum starter (T2). Feed structured treatment isoenergi and isoprotein (PK 13% and 65% TDN). Feed treatment was given for 12 weeks with a 2-week adaptation period. The results showed that feed intake, ADG, feed conversion, and feed efficiency were not significantly different (P> 0.05), but it can improve feed digestibility (P <0.05) between treatments. Feed intake data, digestibility, ADG, feed conversion and feed efficiency at T0, T1 and T2 as follows: 678.27, 811.43, 701.21 g / day; 70.51, 71.74, 69.82%; 94.09, 106.34, 97.28 g / day; 7.22, 7.66, and 7.18; 14.09, 13.23 and 14.02% use a complete ration silage with L. plantarum starter better than the control treatment in the form of concentrates with elephant grass but not better than silage without a starter.</text>

<text>(Active component analysis of fermented milk flavor by gas chromatography)ABSTRACT. Fermented milk is milk processed product that to be one source of nutritious food for humans. The action of food component such as flavor is accepted, sense of taste and smell generated complex assessment of food flavors in the mouth. The flavor components of fermented milk together and interact with each other when consumed and cause the perception of taste between like or dislike. This is an important factor in developing diversification of fermented milk product so as to attract customers other than in terms of aspects of nutrition and health. Flavor is one of the most important criteria in the acceptance of a food ingredient. During processing and storage flavor change easily. This study used gas chromatography to detect the formation of the active component of the flavor of fermented milk. The purpose of this study was to determine the active components in fermented milk which is the formation of flavor. This research was conducted in the Laboratory of Animal Feed Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Chemistry Unsyiah and PAU Food and Nutrition IPB Bogor. This study uses a Likens - Nickerson distillation stage concentrated with Vigreux column and identified by Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometer. Gas chromatography has identified that the class of acids, alcohols, esters and alkanes group forming an active component in the flavor of fermented milk although relatively varied. In yoghurt, acid found in relatively high amount of alcohol is more varied in its kind. Yogurt with single culture L.bulgaricus has more ketones and aldehydes components. Volatile components were detected mostly in kefir acids, alcohols, esters and alkane derivatives. The curd is dominated by acidic components in addition to alcohol and aldehyde.</text>

<text>(The effect of supplementation and protection of kapok seed oil on in vitro ruminal fermentability of elephant grass) ABSTRACT. The purpose of this research was to study the interaction between supplementation and protection of kapok seed oil (KSO) influence on in vitro digestibility and ruminal fermentability products of elephant grass. Material used were elephant grass, kapok seed oil, KOH and CaCl2 reagens and cattle rumen fluids. Completely randomized design (CRD) was used with two factorial pattern 3 x 5 with 2 replications, first factor was supplementation of KSO consist of 3 levels: 5% (S1); 10% (S2); and 15% (S3), respectively. Second factor was protection consist of 5 levels: 0% (P0); 25% (P1); 50% (P2); 75% (P3) and 100% (P4); also control treatment without supplementation and protection of KSO (S0P0). The result of this research showed there was no interaction between supplementation and protection of KSO on digestibility of elephant grass. The highest In vitro Dry Matter Digestibility (IVDMD) and In vitro Digestibility of Organic Material (IVDOM) reached by control treatment, 55,17% and 54,27%, respectively. The results of this research showed influence of interaction between supplementation and protection of KSO on VFA and NH3 production (P<0.05). The highest VFA and NH3 production reached by 10% supplementation and 25% protection were 152,5 and 6,50 mM. The conclusion of this study showed that supplementation and protection of KSO was not effecting ruminal fermentation, but decreasing in vitro digestibility of elephant grass.</text>

<text>(Feeding agricultural crop residues (groundnut straw, corn straw, sugarcane straw) to the pH evolution, N-NH3 and VFA in the cow rumen)ABSTRACT. The goal of this study is to evaluate the condition of fermentation in the rumen of cows by administration of 3 types of feed fiber agricultural crop residues (Groundnut Straw (GS), Corn Straw (CS) and Sugarcane Tops (ST)). Single feeding wascarried out at 2 Holstein Friesian Crossbred (HFC) cows with the age of 4-5 by fistula rumen. This study was conducted 20 days and with a 14-dayadaptation period. At the end of the adaptation period, rumen fluid was collected to measure pH, N-NH3and VFA based on feed treatment percow.Collection of rumen fluid was simultanous conducted for 24 hours at 27 time points decision. The results of the experiment showed that the level of pH for GS, CS and ST was 7.02 + 0.29; 6.54 + 0.16 and 6.54 + 0.14 respectively. The level of N-NH3 was 4.90 + 2.10 mg/100 ml of rumen fluid; 7.36 + 3.10 mg/100 ml of rumen fluid; 2.26 + 0.85 mg/100 ml of rumen fluidfor GS, CS and ST, respectively. Meanwile, the level of VFA was 57.44 + 12.75 mmol/l ml, 64.84 + 10.82 mmol/l and 44.13 + 6.66 mmol/l ml of rumen fluid, respectively.</text>

<text>Evaluation performance reproduction on dairy cattle (Case study in sinarjaya dairy cattle cooperationABSTRACT. Aim of the identification of performance reproduction was to find out the successfully of reproduction management in the dairy cattle firm or farmers. Performance reproduction of dairy cattle include days open, calving interval, service per conception, first service postpartum and length of the pregnancy. All of that performance reproduction values was ideal value and close relation to the production and that values was difference between farmer and depend of management themselves. Sinar Jaya cooperation is one of dairy cattle cooperation, since 1977 with the population about 1554 dairy cattle’s in year 2006, has been opportunity to find out the performance reproduction of dairy cattle in that cooperation. Dairy cattle about 197 cattle’s was used as a sample of the treatment, which were minimum two times calving period with the completely recording of reproduction activity. The method of this research was descriptive method and the data was collected as a census method. As a conclusion, reproduction performance for the first service postpartum, days open and calving interval were ideal values but service per conception was bigger than optimal value. </text>

<text>The effect of different water spraying level and storage period on endurance of pellet broiler finisherABSTRACT. The storage is very important in a farm management, because this activity can take care of feed stability which enough and preferable to be consumed by animal and also strive for animal food availability continuously. The purpose of this research is to know the water spraying level and variation of storage period against the endurance of pellet broiler finisher ration. This research was designed by a Completely Randomized Design Factorial with two factors (water spraying different level and storage period) with four replicates, the significant result were analyzed by orthogonal contras test. On this experiment, the different level of water spraying (0, 3, 6%) were conducted during mixing at conditioning process, and then the ration were stored until four weeks to study the endurance of pellet e.g.: water content (%), water activity, specific gravity (ton/m3), pellet durability index (%), attack of insect. The water content, specific gravity, and pellet durability index was very significantly (P<0.01) reduce by water spraying different level, and not significantly on water activity. The storage period showed very significantly (P<0.01) increase the specific gravity, pellet durability index, and the insect attacks, and significantly (P<0.01) decreased the water activity, but not effect on water content. Interaction among spraying level and storage period is very significantly (P<0.01) on the values of water content, water activity, specific gravity and pellet durability.</text>
