<text>(Protein efficiency of broiler chickens fed with diets containing kayambang leaves meal)ABSTRACT The aim of the experiment was to determine the utilization of kayambang (Salvinia molesta) leaves meal until 18% based on its effects on protein consumption, protein intake, meat protein mass and protein efficiency ratio. One hundred broiler CP 707 day-old unsexed chicks, with an average body weight 502,48± 6,99 g age 15 until 42 days. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications and each replication consisted of 5 chickens.. The treatments diets were T0 (basal diet), T1 (6% Salvinia molesta leaves meal), T2 (12% Salvinia molesta leaves meal), and T3 (18% Salvinia molesta leaves meal). The results showed that administration of Salvinia molesta leaf meal up to 18% level in the diet resulted in a decrease in the quality of the ration so that the protein utilization also decreased as indicated by the decline in the value of protein intake, protein intake, protein mass of meat and protein efficiency ratio.</text>

<text>The level of liver flukes infection and its relation to the economic loss of beef cattle at the abattoir of banyumas ex-residentABSTRACT. The aims of this study was (i) to find out the level of liver flukes infection based on body weight, age of beef cattle and their background of origin, and (ii) to know the relationship between the level of liver flukes infection, body weight, age, background of origin and the level of economic losses of beef cattle. This study was conducted at four abattoir located at Banyumas, Cilacap, Purbalingga and Banjarnegara regencies, Central Java province. The sample was taken by purposive sampling. 20 beef cattle that infected by liver fluke in each abattoir were involved in this study. Multiple linear regression was applied in data analysis. This study revealed that (1) Average of the liver flukes infection level in this areas was 47 present. (2) Under 1-2 of age, the highest liver flukes infection level found at thin body condition (53%) and moderate (31%); under 2,5-3 of age, they are found at fat body condition (75%) and moderate (62%); under 3,5-4 of age the highest liver flukes infection level found at moderate and far body condition (100% and 67%, respectively). (3) Economic loss of beef cattle (Y) affected by factors of the liver flukes infection level (X1), body weight (X2), age (X3), background of origin (Dummy) with determinant coefficient 0,625 and regression equation as fallow; Y = 18792,397 + 207,334 X1 - 17,905 X2 – 1981,969 X3 - 1178,544 D.</text>

It was assumed that feed formulation given to animals has an effect on digested nutrient of the animals. The purpose of this experiment is to investigate nutrient contribution mainly protein in digestive tracts of sheep by forage formulation treatment (Caliandra calothyrsus, Gliricidia sepium and Penisetum sp.). Thirty (30) sheep tails with the average body weight 15,42 kg (SD 2,68) were fed forage with the following formulation: A. Fresh Penisetum sp. (FP) and fresh Caliandra calothyrsus (FC) (7 : 3 or 70 % + 30 %), B. Fresh Penisetum sp. (FP) and fresh Gliricidia sepium (FG) (7 : 3 or 70 % + 30 %), C. Fresh Penisetum sp. (FP), fresh Caliandra calothyrsus (FC) and fresh Gliricidia sepium (FG). The experiment was conducted for 90 days and water was provided ad libitum. Parameter recorded in this experiment were distribution of protein in sheep digestive tract, covers by protein rate in rumen, omasum, abomasum, small intestine, caecum, large intestine and rectal. Data recorded were processed by covariant analysis with body weight of sheep at the early experiment treatment as a covariant. Continuation test with Tukey test. The results of this research indicated that treatment had no significant effect on protein distribution of digestive tract. It was shown by protein content in digestive tract had no significantly difference among treatments ( P < 0,05), except for rectum part.</text>

<text>(Rumen metabolism product on lactating dairy cattle) ABSTRACT. The rumen microorganism, as yeast, have an important role in rumen fermentation processes and the rumen metabolism product. A research had been done to study the use of yeast, Saccharomyces cereviseae in Lactating dairy cattle ration. The research had been conducted by experimental method, in a Latin Square Design. The animal were subjected as column and periods function as row. The treatment to be tested were four levels of yeast addition, namely : 0, 5, 10 and 15 g/cattle/day. The variables measured were rumen metabolism product : Total Volatile Fatty Acids (T-VFA), Acetate (C2), Propionate (C3), Butyrate (C4), Formiate, Valerate, Nitrogen Ammonia and C2/C3. Based on the all variables measured, it was indicated that the addition of yeast Saccharomyces cereviseae up to 15 g/cattle/day have not changed the rumen metabolism product on lactating dairy cattle; although it was a normally production of total VFA (96,86 ± 9,94 mM/L and C2/C3 (3,08 ± 0,14), but it was very high production of N-NH3 (12,85 ± 2,72 mM/L). To increase the efficiency of metabolism processes, it is need the addition of fermentable carbohydrate in ration.</text>

The study was conducted to assess the effect of the addition of tannins, saponin and their combinations on the feed, as defaunation agent in the dry matter and organic matter digestibility and ADF, NDF degradability. The study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design. The treatments were T0 : feed without supplementation; T1: feed supplementation with 1,2% saponin; T2 : feed with supplemetation combined of 0,5% tannin and 0,9% saponin; T3 : feed with supplementation combined of 1,0% tannin and 0,6% saponin; T4 : feed with supplementation combined of 1,5% tannin and 0,3% saponin and T5 : feed with supplementation with 2% tannins. The result showed that DMD and OMD increased with treatment added combination of tannin and saponin. The best result for DMD and OMD in combination of 1,5% tannin and 0,3% saponin. Degradability of ADF and NDF was decreased on the supplemented feed. The addition of a combination of tannins and saponins in the feed at dose of 1% tannin and 0.6% saponin showed the best result that increased of DMD and OMD and give good value on NDF and ADF degradability.</text>

<text>(Protein concentrate substitution using feather meal processed by physico-chemistry and fermentatio)ABSTRACT. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of protein concentrate substitution using processed feather meal in growing layer-ration. Chicken feather meal was processed by physico-chemical techniques viz.soaking in 0.5% (b/v) NaOH and Na2S at 60°C and continued by fermentation using Bacillus sp. MTS. The method was experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments that replicated for four times. The treatments tested was level of concentrate substitution i.e. 0, 4, 8, 12 and 16%. Protein concentrate substitution had no significantly effect (P > 0.05) on growth, feed consumption and convertion of growing layer. Keratin meal from chicken feather can be applied in growing layer-ration 16% respectively or substitute the protein concentrate as much as 53%. </text>

This research was aimed to study the effect of addition of katuk leaf meal (Sauropus androgynus L. Merr) in feed on body weight gain and scrotal circumference of male Ettawa grade goat. The research lasted for eight months, starting Agustus 2012 to Maret 2013, with feeding trial for two months. Twenty male Ettawa grade goats of 18 to 24 months old, were divided into 4 treatment groups. Treatment groups were added with 0% Katuk leaf meal (R0); 5% (R1); 10% (R2) and 15% (R3), with 5 goats in each replication. Treatment diets were feed in the morning and afternoon for 60 days. Weighing body weight and measuring scrotal circumference was done every week. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and if there was significantly different, the data were further tested using Duncan multiple range test. The result shows that the body weight gain of the treatment were, R0 (2,39 ± 0,43 kg); R1 (2,84 ± 0,36 kg); R2 (2,85 ± 0,20 kg) and R3 (3,42 ± 0,78 kg) respectively. Scrotal circumference were, R0 (0,74 ± 0,10 cm); R1 (1,24 ± 0,26 cm); R2 (1,26 ± 0,40 cm) dan R3 (1,32 ± 0,32 cm) respectively. The result of this research indicated that the addition of katuk leaf meal in feed had significant effects (P<0,05) on body weight gain and scrotal circumference of Ettawa grade goat.</text>

<text>(The effect of cassava meal and Lactic Acid Bacteria isolated from rumen liquid of PO cattle on napier grass silage quality) ABSTRACT. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of cassava meal as carbohydrate source and inoculums of lactic acid bacteria incubated from PO cattle’s rumen liquid on the quality of Napier grass (pennisetum purpureum) silages. The research was conducted at Ujung-ujung village Pabelan District Semarang Regency. Feed analysis was carried out in of Biochemical Nutrition, Animal Feed Science, Animal Science Faculty, Gadjah Mada University. This study was assigned into Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 3 replicated. The treatments were addition of cassava meal and inoculums of lactic acid bacteria level into the Napier grass; 0, 1, 3 and 5% (w/w) and incubated for 30 days. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the significant effect was tested by Duncans Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the addition of 1 – 5% cassava meal significantly affected (P<0,05) lactic acid content, pH, and NH3 concentration. Should be revised However, among the treatment groups of 1, 3 and 5 % of cassava meal was not significantly (P<0,05) different on the lactic acid content, pH and NH3 concentration.</text>

<text>The gain body weight and Spoilage of meat broiler which giving jaloh extract to combine with chromiumABSTRACT. A study was conducted on broiler chickens under heat stress to evaluate the effect of combined jaloh (Salix tetrasperma Roxb) extract with chromium mineral in the body weight, value of feed ratio conversion, and time to meat to become decomposed. Twenty four of 20-day old Cobb female broiler chickens were randomly assigned and divided to 4 treatment groups. Completely randomized design was used in this study. The treatments were as follows: 1) chickens given no heat stress and jaloh extract nor chromium (tCp); 2) chickens under heat stress without given jaloh extract nor chromium (Cp); 3) chickens under heat stress and given jaloh extract in 1.000 mg/lt drinking water (Cp+Ej); and 4) chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract in 1.000 mg/lt drinking water, and chromium in 1.000 ug/lt drinking water (Cp+Ej+Cr). Heat stress given was 33 ± 1oC of cage temperature during 4 hours per day within 15 days. Jaloh extract and chromium treatments in drinking water were given at 2 hour before cage temperature reaching 33 ± 1oC and were stopped being given after 1 hour, when cage temperature back to room temperature. On the 16th day of the study chickens were measured before slaughtered. Samples obtained were chicken meat that taken from breast part (musculus pectoralis). The result suggested that either giving jaloh extract per se at the dose of 1.000 mg/lt in drinking water or combine it with chromium that given two hours before cage temperature reaching 33 ± 1oC, can prevent chickens from decreasing their body weight, decreasing value of feed ratio convertion, and extending time to meat to become decomposed.</text>

<text>Improving of rice straw quality and its effect on ability nutrient digestibility and rumen metabolism products of buffalo in-vitro with feces as inoculum source ABSTRACT. This study was aimed to determine the effect of feeding ammoniated rice straw plus concentrate on buffalo nutrient digestibility and rumen fermentation products by in vitro. The Research was carried out by using experimental method, designed according to completely randomized design (CRD). The source of inoculum was obtain from different feces of three buffalos kept in Datar Village of Purwokerto region fed rice straw, rice straw plus concentrate and rice straw ammoniated plus concentrate with dry matter ratio of 80 : 20. The treatments tested consisted of three treatments, namely R0 = control feed using rice straw; R1 = the use of rice straw plus concentrate with a ratio of (DM basis) 80:20; R2 = the use of ammoniated rice straw plus concentrate with a ratio of (DM basis) 80:20. The treatments were repeated 7 times, so there were 21 experimental units. The Variables measured included total VFA, Ratio A/P, N-NH3, Microbial Protein Synthesis (MPS), Dry Matter and Organic Matter Digestibility. The result of this study showed that the treatment had an effect significant (P<0.05) on the concentration of VFA, Ratio A/P, N-NH3, Microbial Protein Synthesis (MPS), and Dry Matter and Organic Matter Digestibility. The HSD test showed that the highest production of VFA,Ratio A/P, N-NH3, Microbial Protein Synthesis (MPS), Dry Matter and Organic Matter Digestibility were achieved at R2 followed by R1 and R0 respectively. The conclusion is that the ammoniated rice straw supplemented with concentrate can be recommended to be fed to buffalo</text>
