<text>The utilization of brewery waste in ration to improved the quality of lamb meatABSTRACT. An experiment has been conducted to study the utilization of brewery waste in ration to improved the meat quality of lamb. High quality of lamb meat can be reached by manipulation of rumen fermentation. Tannins in brewery waste can decrease the activity of rumen microorganism and inhibite the rumen biohydrogenation processes. The experiment was conducted with an experimental method by in vivo technique, using 16 heads of local lamb, 4-5 months old, with body weight range of 5-10 kg. The trial was conducted for 150 days, using Completely Randomized Block Design with 4 replicates. The treatment tested were 4 levels of Brewery Waste : R1 = 12%; R2 = 24%; R3 = 36% and R4 = 48%. The variables measured were : physical and chemical quality of meat. The result indicated, that the treatment tested significantly affect the meat quality physically, except to the percentage of edible distal meat and proximal bone weight.Based on the all variables measured, the research conclusion : (1) the utilization of brewery waste up to 48% dry matter ration, could be used, without any physiology and metabolism disturbance; (2) the highest increasing of unsaturated fatty acid was stearic acid (C18:0) as much as 54. 60%, was reach by R3 (36% brewery waste); the linoleic acid increased as much as 43.91% reach by R4 (48% brewery waste); the oleic acid increased as much as 37.48% by R2 ( 24% brewery waste). From the result can be suggested that the need of tannin brewery waste as biohydrogenation inhibitor would be more effective and efficient whenever brewery waste usage has been increased up to 60% dry matter ration.</text>

<text>(Effect of supplementation of vitamin E, Selenium and Zinc mineral against to nutrient consumption, production and quality cement simental cow)ABSTRACT. Simental bulls often experience a decline in production and semen quality in the rainy season, which have a higher humidity and high rainfall. This study aims to maintain nutrient consumption, production and semen quality Simental bulls during the rainy season through the supplementation of Vitamin E, Selenium and Zinc Minerals. The study was conducted in July-December 2012 at the Artificial Insemination Center (BIB) Unggaran. The research material used in this study were 12 males Simental cows BIB Unggaran grouped by age. The experimental design used in this study is a randomized block design (RBD) with 3 treatments T1 (ration + Vit. E), T2 (ration + Vit. E + Se), T3 (ration + Vit. E + Se + Zn) and 4 groups as replicates. Parameters measured were dry matter intake and nutrient consumption, production and semen quality. Cement production was measured from fresh semen volume during the study, whereas semen quality measured motility and concentration of spermatozoa from fresh semen. Data consumption of dry matter and nutrient intake obtained were processed using analysis of variance, followed by Duncan test. While data on production and semen quality were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the combination of vitamin E supplementation, minerals Selenium and Zinc did not affect dry matter intake, total digestible nutriens and crude protein, but resulted in a decrease in the percentage of shelter, semen volume, sperm motility and concentration smaller than before treatment. Treatment T1, T2 and T3 resulted in a decrease in the number of shelter respectively 41,55%, 19,56% and 13,63% compared to before treatment, whereas a decrease in semen volume unchanged at 44,9 %, 43,7% and 40,99%. Sperm motility due to treatment T1, T2 and T3 respectively decreased by 55,87%, 22,10% and 13,63% compared to before treatment. In line with sperm motility, sperm concentration in treatment T , T2 and T3, respectively decreased by 49,16%, 22,85% and 14,88%. The conclusion is a combination of vitamin E supplementation, minerals Selenium and Zinc can prevent the decline in cement production, sperm motility and sperm concentration Simental bulls during the rainy season.</text>

Aimed of this research was to find out the optimal level of molasses addition to improve quality, dry matter and organic matter digestibility of rice straw ammonization process. Materials used were rumen fluid of fistula cattle, grind of rice straw, water, urea and molasses. Research designed used Completely Randomized Design (CRD). As treatments were R0: rice straw 1000 g dry matter + 500 g water + 50 g urea + 0 percent of molasses, R1: R0 + 15 percent of molasses, R2: R0 + 30 percent of molasses. Urea and molasses dissolved in water and then entered into pollybag. All pollybag observe and let for 15 days, each treatment replicated 6 times. Variable measured were dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility. Research result showed that ammonization product of NH3, Acidity Level and crude fiber having decreased while crude protein content increased. Variance analysis indicated that treatments had significant effect (P<0.05) on dry matter and organic matter digestibility. Orthogonal polynomial test indicated that level of molasses increase (P<0.05) of dry matter and organic matter digestibility linearly. It can be concluded that addition up to 30 percent in ammoniating of rice straw using urea can improve quality of ammonization and increasing dry matter and organic matter digestibility.</text>

<text>Association of Lactoferrin Polymhorphism on Milk Yield and Milk Quality in Holstein-Friesian Dairy CowsABSTRACT. The purposes of this study were to identify the polymorphism of the lactoferrin gene and the association of genetic variants of the lactoferrin gene on milk quality in Holstein-Friesian (HF) cows. The study was conducted on 194 heads of HF lactating cows coming from semi intensive of small dairy farmers in two villages of the KPSBU Lembang, Lembang district. Investigation on variant genotypes of the lactoferrin gene used PCR-RFLP method. Genotyping of the lactoferrin gene with EcoRI restriction enzyme produced two genotypes, i.e. AA (65%) and AB (35%) genotypes. Both the AA and AB genotypes had inconsistency in controlling component of the milk quality. Further, the AB lactoferrin cows had a higher frequency in the classification of low somatic cells count (0.75), while the AA cows were at a higher frequency in the classification of high somatic cells count (0.60). It was concluded that there is no strong relationship between intron 6 lactoferrin gene with milk quality parameters. Further, the AB genotype of the lactoferrin gene had a consistency in producing lower somatic cells count compared to the AA genotype.</text>

<text>(Effect of poultry carcas decontamination by acetic acid, citric acid and its combination to total plate count of Campylobacter sp).ABSTRACT. This research aimed to detect the total number of Campylobacter sp. on poultry carcass after decontamination by acetic acid, citric acid and combination of both. This research was conducted in the Laboratory of Veterinary Public Health Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. The research was factorial completely randomized designed. Samples of poultry carcass were obtained from the Lamnyong market, Banda Aceh. Sixty poultry carcasses were divided into three groups of treatment and one group without treatment. Observation of each treatment was five time replicated at 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours after immersion for ± 30 seconds in each of the decontamination material. Observation of Campylobacter sp. was done by inoculating every sample on CM0739 selective Campylobacter Blood free selective agar base and CCDA Selective supplement SR0155E. Measurements of Total Plate Count (TPC) Campylobacter sp according to Standard Plate Count (SPC). Data was variance analyzed (ANOVA) using SPSS. The results of research showed that the growing colonies of Campylobacter sp. were indicated by white colony with surrounded by black zone. Immersion of poultry carcass with acetic acid, citric acid and combination of the both and the observation time had no influence (P>0,05) to ALT Campylobacter sp. The research was concluded that carcass to Campylobacter sp. The immersion by acetic acid, citric acid and combination of both and the observation time were not reduce Campylobacter sp. in poultry carcass. </text>

<text>(The study of prospective forage production on existing and potential land use to support increasing livestock population in Aceh Besar) ABSTRACT. The purpose of this research was to find out the width and scattered location of existing land use which its land capability class suitable for pastures; forage production prospective, and land carrying capacity. The combination of survey and evaluation method was used in this study. The primary data were obtained by field observation and compiling documents, while the secondary data were obtained from various sources, including Bappeda Aceh, and Dinas Peternakan Aceh Besar. Land capability classification was defined based on a modified USDA method and land capability class mapping was prepared based on overlay method by geoprocessing of Geographic Information Systems. The attributes delineating land capability classification included slope, erosion potential and soil depth. Spatial and attributes data were processed using ArcGIS 9.3. Interpretation of land use map derived from satellite imagery analysis results. Brachiaria humidicola green production (tons/year) was determined by assumption-based on obtaining data from various sources. Present livestock population and increasing of population target up to 2017 were obtained from Dinas Peternakan Aceh Besar. The results showed that the existing land use area was 28,632.23 ha (59.03 %), whereas the potential land use area was 19,875.73 ha (40.97%). Land use area for pastures in the district of Aceh Besar, both existing and potential, were sufficient to support the achievement of livestock population increasing program.</text>

This aims of this research was to determine the percentage of carcass, commercial carcass parting and meat bone ratio (breast, thigh and wing) of broiler consumed wood vinegar. This research was assigned into used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 different treatments and each 3 replicates. The treatments were dose of wood vinegar, R0 = water + 0% wood vinegar, R1 = water + 0.25% wood vinegar, R2 = water + 0.5% wood vinegar, R3 = water + 0.75% wood vinegar, R0 = water + 1% wood vinegar. The observed parameters were percentage of carcass, commercial sliced carcass parting and meat bone ratio. The results showed that wood vinegar in the drinking water did gave not significantly (P>0,05) effect to the percentage of carcass, commercial sliced carcass parting and meat bone ratio of broiler chickens. It is concluded that Liquid wood vinegar can be used for broiler chickens until 1%.</text>

<text>The evaluation of the Aceh cattle bulls weight which compensated between forage and concentrate at Superior Livestock Place in IndrapuriABSTRACT. This research was conducted at Superior Livestock Place in Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar which lasted for 42 days. It was started on November 28th 2012 until January 9th 2013. This research was aims to know about the average daily gain for Aceh cattle bulls which compensated between forage and concentrate by using 12 bulls aged 2-2,5 years old. The design was used a Randomized Design Groups with 4 feed treatments and 3 repetitions. The feed percentages between forage and concentrate are ration A (100% forages), B (80%)forages and 20% concentrates), C (60% forages and 40% concentrates), and D (40% forages and 60% concentrates). The research analysis data were obtained by using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). The parameters which observed in this study was the average daily gain, consumption, conversion, and efficiency rations. The result showed that the ration dry matter intake highly significantly (P<0,01) between treatment A (4,45 Kg), and B (3,61 Kg), C (2,72 Kg), and D (3,38 Kg), but the treatment B and D highly significantly than treatment C (P<0,01), the best ration consumption were derived from treatment C. The body weight Kg/bull/day significantly (P<0,05) between treatment A (0,47 Kg) and B (0,65 Kg), C (0,60 Kg), and D (0,61 Kg), the best average daily gain were derived from treatment B. The conversion ration showed that highly significantly (P<0,01) between treatment A (9,55 Kg), and B (5,55 Kg), C (4,60 Kg), and D (5,59 Kg), the best ration conversion were derived treatment C. Similarly, the efficiency ration showed that highly significantly (P<0,01) between treatment A (0,11%), and B (0,18%), C (0,22%), and D (0,18%), C is the best ration efficiency on the treatment.</text>

<text>Characterization of local goat of kejobong at local government of purbalingga, central javaABSTRACT. The purposes of this study were to identify the quantitative morphogenitical characteristics (external body dimensions) and qualitative characteristics (coat-colour), the population size, its distribution and diversity of morphogenitical characteristics, the population status in term of conservation, and to find out the model of conservation. The target of this study were goat-husbandry of local goat at Kejobong (13 villages) Local Government of Purbalingga, Central Java, Purbalingga Regency. Livestock On-Farm Trials (LOFT) by simple random sampling was implemented in this study. Sample sizes were determinate by Nomogram Harry King, and were involved of 931 head of local goat of Kejobong. Descriptive (qualitative and quantitative) analyses, variance analyses by General Linear Model (GLM) procedure of SPSS, analysis of the population status according to the Global Data Bank for Farm Animal Genetic Resources for Domestic Animal Diversity of FAO were applied. This study revealed that: (1) based on the size of external body dimensions, the Kejobong local goat appears the termediate between Kacang and Peranakan Etawah goats; (2) ) Based on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics, the Kejobong local goat assumed as a crossbreed-goat resulted from crossing between Kacang and Peranakan Etawah breeds. Dominant black and total black coat colour were predominants 74.45 and 56.49 percent among their population, respectively; (3) The Kejobong local goats were founded in all regions (13 villages) with the total populations about 15.317 heads. There was highly diversity in term of the characteristic of external body dimensions. This finding force to conduct the in-breed selection in order to improve their productivity; (4) Based on the Global Data Bank for Farm Animal Genetic Resources, the population status of local goat at Kecamatan Subdistric (15.317 heads) and the total population of black coat (8.623 heads) were classified into Not at Risk category. Board of Agriculture National Research Council (1993) classify that the population status into rare if the size of population ranges from 5.000 until 10.000 heads, it is imply that the total population of black coat goat (8.623 heads) include in rare category; (5) The policy of livestock conservation consists of the in-situ and ex-situ methods. In the level of implementation of the sustainability conservation, there were some aspects could be take into account such as agreement between government (political will and coordination), community (group farmer, empowering capital and marketing), and universities. </text>
