<text>Thermal decomposition of calcium oxide from chicken’s (Gallus gallus domesticus) and goat’s (Capra Hircus Aegragus) bones was prepared at temperature variations of 400, 500, 800, 900, 1000, and 1100 oC respectively. X-ray diffractometer (XRD), FT-IR and SEM were used for calcium oxide characterization. XRD diffraction pattern of the bone’s after thermal decomposition at 1100oC has similarity to the XRD standard diffraction pattern from Joint Committee on Powder Diffraction Standard (JCPDS). Diffractions of 2q values being used are 34.2o, 37.3o, 58.3o, 64.1o, and 67.3 o.  Ca-O presence in the samples was detected by FT-IR characterization at wavenumber of 354,90 cm-1. SEM profile show reducing size of bones after decomposition in both chicken’s and goat’s bones. Furthermore, the prepared calcium oxide was applied for biodiesel synthesis from discarded cooking oil through transesterification reaction. By applying the catalysts decomposed from chicken’s and goat’s bones, the biodiesel product showed characteristics as follows: biodiesel applied the chicken’s bone catalyst has fatty acid number of 0.56 mg/KOH, iod number of 22.41 g I2/100 g KOH, density of 0.88 g/cm3 and viscosity of 5.91 mm2/s, while biodiesel applied the goat’s bone catalyst has 0.56 mg/KOH, iod number of 21.57 g I2/100 g KOH, density of 0.88 g/cm3 and viscosity of 6.34 mm2/s. Those biodiesel’s characteristic values meet the National Standard of Indonesia (SNI) for biodiesel.</text>

<text>Abstract – Two dominant desalination methods are reverse osmosis (RO) and multi-stage flash (MSF). RO requires large capital investment and maintenance, whereas MSF is too energy-intensive. Innovative system of vapor compression desalination is proposed in this study. Comprehensive mathematics model for evaporator is also described. From literature study, it is indicated that very high overall-heat-transfer coefficient for evaporator can be obtained at specific condition by using dropwise condensation in the steam side, and pool boiling in the liquid side. Smooth titanium surface is selected in order to increase dropwise condensation, and resist corrosion. To maximize energy efficiency, a cogeneration scheme of a combined cycle consisting of gas turbine, boiler heat recovery, and steam turbine that drives compressor is used. The resource for combined cycle is relatively too high for the compressor requirement. Excess power can be used to generate electricity for internal and/or external consumptions, and sold to open market. Four evaporator stages are used. Evaporator is fed by seawater, with assumption of 3.5% salt contents. Boiling brine (7% salt) is boiled in low pressure side of the heat exchanger, and condensed vapor is condensed in high pressure side of the heat exchanger. Condensed steam flows at velocity of 1.52 m/s, so that it maximize the heat transfer coefficient. This unit is designed in order to produce 10 million gallon/day, and assumed it is financed with 5%, 30 years of passive obligation. Three cases are evaluated in order to determine recommended condition to obtain the lowest fixed capital investment. Based on the evaluation, it is possible to establish four-stage unit of mechanical vapor compression distillation with capital $31,723,885. Keywords: Desalination, dropwise condensation, heat exchanger, StarRotor compressor, vapor compression distillation.</text>

<text>Abstract - Thermal comfort calculated using ISO 7730 has been questioned and responded by more adaptive thermal comfort methods. This study was therefore conducted to assess the acceptable thermal comfort for the local people in the tropical Aceh using the measurement based on ISO 7730 and with adaptive thermal comfort method by questionnaires. In this research, Aceh Tsunami Museum building, located in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, was in an open designed layout to be assessed as a case study. This study was conducted onsite using mechanical equipment and involving 138 respondents. The result shows that the comfort temperature calculated by mechanical equipment based on ISO 7730 is 23.140C. This is in contrast with the result of the questionnaires that showed people in an open building design rate the air temperature up to 320C as slightly cool. This condition is influenced by the mean air speed of 2.34 m/s and the mean relative humidity of 66.25%. This finding agrees that obtaining the comfort air temperature especially in tropics merely from the prediction of comfort index in ISO 7730 is inaccurate since the respondents actually could adapt with the higher air temperature. Keywords: Adaptive thermal comfort; Tropics; Aceh Tsunami Museum</text>

<text>AbstractAlgebra is a gateway of technology improvement. It needs students to have good relational thinking in order for algebraic understanding to grow.  Relational thinking means that the students develop the concept of a number that can vary, build upon similarities and differences, and appreciate for the equals sign as signifying equivalence of expressions. Three categories of relational thinking will be discussed in this paper: emerging, consolidating and established relational thinking. Analyzing data from some junior high school students in Banda Aceh it can be said that most students are still at the stage of emerging relational thinking. They construct limited responses to given questions. Many consolidating relational thinkers’ students are concerned that the relationships hold only for a specific range of numbers. Established relational thinkers demonstrate good algebraic thinking processes. Three types of sentences have a potential for develop algebraic thinking with respect to equivalence, attention to operations, different numbers, compensation, and generalisation. Having presented students’ responses to these three types of questions, we ask: how can teachers help students to move beyond the partial descriptions that characterize emerging relational thinkers. Key words: Relational thinking, emergent, consolidating, and established</text>

<text>Abstract Implementation problem solving as an approach in teaching mathematics besides aiming to improve problem-solving skills can also improve students' critical thinking mathematically. In practice, the application of problem solving approach could be expected to cause change math anxiety. Mathematics anxiety is high or too low will affect the ability of critical thinking mathematically. This research is a quantitative approach to experiment with the aim to obtain a picture of increasing mathematical and critical thinking skills of mathematics anxiety of students in learning by using a problem solving approach is reviewed by the entire student and student grouping. This study uses a form of pretest-posttest control group. Collecting data using a test for mathematical and critical thinking skills questionnaire for math anxiety. Based on the analysis concluded that the increase in critical thinking skills that are taught to students' mathematical problem solving approach is higher than the increase in students' critical thinking skills being taught mathematical with conventional approaches based on the students' overall well-reviewed and reviewed based on grouping students. For math anxiety, there are no significant changes between mathematics anxiety before treatment and after treatment both in classes taught by the problem solving approach and the class is taught by conventional approaches. Based on univariate analysis concluded that there was an interaction between these factors and grouping students learning approach to improving the ability to think mathematically ktitis or math anxiety. Keywords: mathematical critical thinking skills, math anxiety, problem solving approach</text>

For that, it needs the right learning model in improving communication skills and mathematical problem solving of students, one model that can improve this ability is a cooperative model of Think-Pair-Share. The aim of this research is to examine differences in mathematical problem solving skills and communication skills among students who obtain mathematical models of cooperative learning Think-Pair-Share and students who receive conventional learning. This research is an experimental study with the study design pre-test post-test control group design. With a population of all eighth grade students of MTsN Darul Ulum Banda Aceh by taking samples of the two classes of experimental class and control class through purposive sampling of four parallel classes available. The data was collected using a test instrument that tests problem solving skills and test students' mathematical communication skills. To see the difference in the ability of students between classes and grade control experiment used the t-test at significance level 0.05. Of the data and results of statistical tests were analyzed with SPSS 16.0 For Windows and Microsoft Excel 2007 to interpret the mathematical problem solving skills and communication skills of the students' mathematical model of cooperative learning with Think-Pair-Share, Overall cooperative models use Think - Pair - Share can improve mathematical problem solving and mathematical communication skills of students.     Keywords: Cooperative learning Think-Pair - Share, mathematical problem solving , mathematical communication</text>
