<text>Corrosion inhibitors are chemical compounds when added in a smallconcentration to the corrosive environment will significantly reduced the corrosion rate of metals or its alloys. The environmental toxicity of organic and synthetic corrosion inhibitors has prompted the search for green corrosion inhibitors as they are biodegradable, do not contain heavy metals or other toxic compounds. As in addition to being environmental friendly and ecologically acceptable, plant products are inexpensive, readily available and renewable. Although substantial research has been devoted to corrosion inhibition by plantextracts, reports on the detailed mechanisms of the inhibition process and identification of the active ingredient are still scarce. Most plant extracts constitute of oxygen and nitrogen containing compounds. Most of the oxygen-containing constituents of the extracts is a hydroxy aromatic compound such as polyphenolic compound. It is postulated that a number of OH groups around the molecule lure them to form strong links with hydrogen and form complexes with metals. The complexes caused blockages of micro anodes and/or microcathodes and hence retard the subsequent dissolution of the metal. Another suggestion was through and adsorption of polyphenols to the metals due to the presence of donoracceptor interactions between the π-electrons of aromatic ring and vacant d orbital of surface metal atoms. The present paper will highlight some of Malaysian plant extracts which are potential to be used as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in acidic media</text>

<text>Configuration/Geometry definition, grid generation/mashing, and modeling in wing design and analysis process usually spend much time to support calculation by computer program. Much effort has been performed by engineering group to simplify design process and also for accelerating execution time. This paper describe a method to design and analysis aerodynamic and structure of the wing by automatic technique in geometry preparation. For aerodynamic aspect, wing geometry for a certain configuration is created automatically using computer program for replacement of manual method. NWDU is the software for creating an input of “panel method base code” in the form of panel system that consist of basic input, grid point (wing coordinate) and wake point. Some aerodynamic characteristics are demonstrated in corelation with a certain wing configuration. For structural aspect, automatic technique was applied on structure modeling, including structural layout as the input of FEM analysis. Geodesic structure of wing box component was choosen as test case of the method application. Grid Generation (GG) software was developed to generate structure modeling automatically as an input of Finite Element Method (FEM)</text>

<text>This research was conducted to know the activity of crude ethanol extract of pliek u (E) through in vitro assays. Pliek u obtained from households industry in the Reudep village Aceh Besar, Aceh province. Yeasts used in clinical trials is Candida albicans isolates obtained from the Mycology Laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University. Anticandidal activity was determined on a paper disc, whereas in the broth dilution method is used to set a killing time activity of the E. The concentration of E that is used to determine the killing time activity is the value of LC50. Crude ethanol extract of pliek u (E) showed anticandidal activity with inhibitory zone diameters of 10.67 ± 0.47 mm. Ethanol extract of pliek u at a concentration of 3.36 mg / ml can reduce the number of C. albicans within two hours at 2.57 log CFU / ml compared to controls at 7.42 log CFU / ml. Based on this study can be concluded that ethanol extract of pliek u (E) can be considered an alternative drug for treating candidiasis, so it needs further research to veterinary clinics in vivo applications</text>

<text>Crystallization of a protein is a process of formation of a solid crystal from a homogeneous solution which leads to the knowledge of its three dimensional structures and it plays important role in designing and engineering protein for specific purposes. Thermostable lipases are commercially significant for their potential use in industries as it is stable and active in organic solvents, possess a wide range of substrate specificity, resistance to high temperature and chemical denaturation. The purified thermostable lipase from Geobacillus thermodenitrificans IBRL-nra was screened for crystal formation using Hampton Research screening kit, HR2-121 and HR2-122 using hanging drop vapour diffusion and microbatch methods. Microcrystals and rod clusters grew from mixtures in formulation 14, 20, 21 and 38 of HR2-121 and formulation 14, 16, 32 and 45 of HR2-122. Further enhancement of the parameters was carried out for the formation of well-defined crystal. The parameters tested are pH (4.6, 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5) and concentration of CaCl2 (0.15-0.38M)</text>

<text>DNA barcoding has been accepted nowadays as a globally accessible tool to delimitate and identify new species, as it can provide accurate and automated species identification through the use of standard gene, Cytochrome oxidase I (COI). As a result, DNA barcoding has become a perfect molecular tool to identify fish products and detect wrongly labelled fish in the market as it can identify fish species even without the presenceof complete morphological characteristics. Here we collected samples from sushi restaurants to investigate and identify the precise species identity of raw fish sushi products because most of them were labelled with only common names such as Tuna, Salmon and Butterfish without providing the scientific name of the fishes. Species identities of seven specimens from two sushi restaurants were DNA barcoded utilising the cytochrome oxidase I (COI) gene. The data were BLAST with GenBank and BOLD to confirm species identification. The results showed 100% matches that there was nosubstitution and wrongly labelling of species as the Salmon sushi matched the database sequences of Salmo salar, Tuna to Thunnus albacares and Butterfish to Lepidocybium flavobrunneum. The investigation of these fishproduct true identities should be carried out routinely to ensure consumer protection from mislabelling and substitution for a cheaper fishin order to avoid health issuessuch as allergic reaction due to intake of the wronglylabelled product</text>

Tsunami areas, land use (rural and urban areas) and land management (agriculture land and home garden) can be leading heavy metals in water quality. The purpose of this research is to investigate how the Tsunami rehabilitation efforts affected the water quality of shallow groundwater by measuring the count of heavy metals (mercury, cadmium and lead by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer during the rainy and dry season. Forty-eight water samples’ of wells were collected to determine shallow groundwater from August 2007 to December 2007. The study includes interviews with the owners of the water facilities and sanitary inspection of shallow groundwater wells. The results show the presence Hg and most of Cd in well water are still below the regulatory acceptable limit by Ministry of Health R.I (2002). On the other hand, lead exceeds the regulatory acceptable limit</text>

<text>Study on enhancing the solubility of clay containing magnesium of localproduction (Indrapuri) has been conducted. The clay is commercially available and named as “kieserite” produced by local companies. The sample was taken randomly from fertilizer shops and analysed with AAS and XRF methods. XRF data of local kieserite showed the dominated chemical content; MgO(33.19%); SiO2(33.11%); CaO(1.90%);Al2O3 (5.77%) and Fe2O3(6.32%). The MgO content is higher than that of magnesium sulphate monohydrate (CAS No.: 14168-73-1) which is only 28%. The concentration of soluble magnesium ions of local kieserite naturally soluble was 0.0186% which is very low compared with the soluble magnesium of magnesium sulphate monohydrate (CAS No.:14168-73-1) which is 25%. The Enhancing the magnesium solubility was done by soaking the local kieseriteinto 0.1-0.5M HNO3 before neutralized with NH4OH or mixing the local kieserite with in alluvial, entisol, red-yellow-podsolik (RYP) soils with and without addition of 0.1-0.5M of (NH4)2SO4. The amount of dissolved magnesium of kieserite was found morein entisol soil than the other type of soils. The concentration increased up between 0.59-1.00% along with the incrementof (NH4)2SO4 concentration (0.1-0.5 M). Both in entisol soil and in 0.1 M of (NH4)2SO4, the dissolved magnesium ion increased up to 0.825% but decreased at higher concentration of (NH4)2SO4</text>
