<text>This research has been carried out in cellulose membrane production from bacterial cellulose. Bacterial cellulose is produced from the fermentation process. The purpose of this study was to analysis the effect of cmc, glycerol and fermentation time towards cellulose membrane characteristics. Cellulose membrane made of a combination of coconut water and palm sugar juice as medium fermentation by using Acetobacter xylinum at 2, 4 and 6 days for fermentation time. Cellulose membrane obtained from a mixture of bacterial cellulose, cmc and glycerol. The addition of cmc and glycerol to improve cellulose membrane characteristics and performance. Based on the analysis results obtained the best performance at 4 days of fermentation time with a concentration of 1.5% cmc and 1.5% glycerol. The thickness of the cellulose membrane was almost the same for all samples and does not affect significantly towards the fermentation time for cellulose membrane production. Cellulose membrane has an asymmetric shape based on morphological analysis using SEM. Besides cellulose membrane has a similar pattern to the weight reduction and has the addition of heat resistance of the membrane. While the results of the IR spectra of cellulose membrane to detect the presence of OH groups, CO, C=C and CH groups that are characteristic of the polymer</text>

<text>Fatty acids with double bonds beyond the ninth carbon from the carboxyl end are classified as essential for human health, including omega-3 fatty acids: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexanoic acid (DHA). The main sources of omega-3 fatty acids are fatty fish species such as herring, mackerel, sardine and salmon. Oils from the marine algae Cryptecondium conchii are mainly rich in DHA only, while fish oil contains both EPA & DHA. Why is it important to microencapsulate EPA & DHA? Because these fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the human body but have to be obtained through nutrition uptake. The beneficial effects of these fatty acids including lowering cholesterol, decreasing the risk of arrhythmia, lowering the blood pressure, preventing diabetes in pregnancy, and positive effects on joints (relief of arthritis). EPA and DHA also play an important role in early infant nutrition and the imbalance of these fatty acids is believed to cause a variety of diseases. Because of their sensitivity to oxidation, these fatty acids need to be stabilized to protect them from oxidation. In food application, their interaction with other food ingredients needs to be prevented. Attempts to prevent oxidation to allow omega-3 fatty acids to fulfill their functions are not trouble-free. Fish oils in their natural state have a taste and smell that make them less attractive to consumers. Processing technology for masking the smell and taste of fish oil in food faces great challenges. Therefore, to address the problems concerning the susceptibility of fish oil to oxidation and its unpleasant smell, microencapsulation, where the oil is packaged within coating materials, may be used to replace bulk oils. This paper discusses great challenges faced by the scientists to microencapsulate omega 3 fatty acids from fish oil after introducing concise information related to microencapsulation and its advance techniques. As the demand of functional food containing omega-3 is continuously growing, overcoming those challenges mean solving one problem in providing healthy food for the world</text>

However, all the tested fungi exhibited resistant against all the different parts of Curculigo latifolia Dryand extracts. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum lethality concentration (MLC) of the Curculigo latifolia Dryand extracts against bacteria and yeast cells were determined and the mode of action of the roots extract on the cells was studied by means of microscopy</text>

<text>The potential of plant-assisted bioremediation in crude oil polluted aquatic ecosystems was studied. The aim was to access the efficacy of Eichornia. crassipes (Water hyacinth) and their associated microorganisms in the treatment of crude oil contaminated waters and the duration of treatment required for the restoration of acceptable water quality. The experimental approach involved the exposure of the plants to varying concentrations of crude oil (500mg/l, 2500mg/l and 5000mg/l) under laboratory conditionsfor six weeks. From the results, percentage reductions of total hydrocarbon content were 98.46, 99.65 and 99.82% under 500mg/l, 2500mg/l and 5000mg/l of crude oil exposure concentrations respectively. In addition, the total heterotrophic bacteriaand fungi, and the hydrocarbon degrading bacteria and fungi in the exposure media increased from 0.07 to 1.48 Cfu/ml, while the growth of E. crassipes was enhanced from 1kg to 4kg. Water quality variables were also observed to improve significantly with percentage reductions of 99.82, 99.95, 99.99 and 85.05 for chemical oxygen demand, nitrate, phosphate and total organic carbon after six weeks of treatment with E. crassipes. It is concluded that the introduction of E. crassipesin oil contaminated waters resulted intheremoval of the crude oil and restoration of water quality through the interaction of E.crassipes and their associated microorganisms. Thus, E.crassipes can serve as an agent of bioremediation in crude oil contaminated waters</text>

<text>There were conflicting results about the success of vaginal breech delivery. Descriptive data about the success of vaginal breech delivery was needed in every institution. This research was conducted in Zainoel Abidin and Ibu Anak Hospital, Banda Aceh in order to analyze the success of vaginal breech delivery as well as the outcome of mother and babies. There were 50 vaginal breech deliveries in Zainoel Abidin Hospital during the study. The success of vaginal breech delivery was determined by the outcome of babies, the perinatal mortality and Apgar score of the babies. Vaginal breech delivery was more likely successful for babies whose birth weight 2000-3000 grams, between 35-40 weeks of gestational age, and singleton. Factors support the increase likelihood for the success of vaginal birth were adequate amniotic fluid, multiparity, and previously bigger baby that was delivered vaginally. We conclude that factors contribute the success of vaginal breech delivery were influenced by the birth weight, gestational age, parity, and amniotic fluid volume. However, since the number of subject was limited, further study with bigger sample size was needed</text>

<text>The Mexico City experience in 1985 demonstrated the importance of siteresponse effects. The site response effect i.e. soil amplification has caused major structure damages founded on thick soft soils. Banda Aceh, Indonesia founded on a formation which can be, typically, similar with the Mexico City. The city is underlain by approximately 70m to 206m thick alluvium. Thus, site-specific ground response analysis is necessary to be carried out to establish the most influential parameter i.e. peak ground acceleration and the spectral fundamental frequency. This ground response analysis was carried out usingcomputer program which is EERA. This analytical analysis has proven able to depict seismic wave behaviour in soft local soil deposits The results of the site-specific ground response studies are expose the real Banda Aceh‟s soil response during the 2004 Sumatran mega earthquake. Peak ground acceleration at soil site, the response spectra and fundamental frequency of the maximum response spectra are presented.</text>

<text>. Rice is very sensitive to high temperature stress at the flowering stage. The rice plants were exposed to high temperature condition under green house. Some varieties show tolerance to heat stress, and the others are sensitive. Nine local Acehness varieties: Si Puteh, Itam Tangke Lango, Ramos Tihion Tamping, Sireundeun Semantok, Bo Santeut Seumantok, Pade Cut Krusek, Sipirok, Sigeudop and Cantek Lembayung were observed for high temperature stress during flowering stage. The objective of this research are: to identify the effect of heat stress on reproductive stage of local Acehnese, Indonesian rice; and to find the varieties that sensitive and hopefully have the gene of “temperature genic male sterility” (TGMS) that can be used as restorer varieties for production of hybrid rice. Heat stress significantly decreased pollen viability, plant architecture, and yield components. The pollen viability was observed by stainability and germination rate of the pollen. Based on pollen germination ability showed that one variety of rice, Sigeudop, showed tolerance to high temperature stress. Whereas the sensitive variety was Bo Santeut Seumantok, the local Indonesian rice that is potential to have TGMS gene. Pollen stainability showed that all varieties of pollen involved stainability from plants cultivation at high temperature, and all the varieties had the high rate of pollen stainability. We also found that pollen germination rate showed three varieties of rice cultivated in high temperature involved high resistance of the pollens. </text>

Chemical constituents arealready known: contain some saponin compounds, including asiaticoside, madeccasoside and asiatic acid. This study aims to determine the bioactive content; asiaticoside, madeccasoside and asiatic acid on the top(leaves and petiol) and bottom (roots and tendrils) with HPLC method. The experiment was conducted in growth chamber Department of Biological Sciences and School of Pharmacy Auburn University, USA. This study conducted in September-December 2011. The materials used are Centella asiatica of Deli Serdang accession, Kabanjahe accession, Berastagi accession and Samosir accession. Equipment needed to support the growth chamber study were digital scales, plastic pots, HPLC system types waters alliance 2695 autosampler, 996 photodiode array detector, coulomb adsorbosphere C18 5μ, size 250 x 4.60 mm, UV absorbance, wavelength of 210 nm, flow rate 1.8 ml / min, injection volume of 20 mL, Empower Pro software, and others. The results that the pattern of centelloside (asiaticoside, madecassoside and asiatic acid), when the content of one of the high content of bioactive, the others bioactive will be lower or biosynthetic pattern toward a compound needed. Centelloside plant age affects the content of Centella asiatica. Centelloside pattern is influenced by the condition of the planting medium, very high levels of phosphorus, biosynthesis of centelloside more toward to asiaticoside.</text>

Cellulose acetate can be obtained from acetylation of cellulose sengon wood (Paraserianthes falcataria). Wood Sengon was used because it has potential as a raw material. There are three steps of cellulose diacetate manufacturing process: (1) activation of cellulose using acetic acid, (2) acetylation using acetic anhydride as reactant and sulfuric acid as catalyst, (3) hydrolysis. At each operating process was observed at 50oC. Preparation of cellulose diacetate membrane using phase inversion methode by addition of cellulose diacetate as polymer; N,N-Dimethyl formamide (DMF) as solvent, water as non-solvent, and Polyethylene glycol (PEG). Membrane pore size was determined by measuring Molecular Weight Cut Off (MWCO) using Dextran and Bovin Serum Albumine (BSA) as standard solution. Membrane morphology was observed by Scanning Electrone Microscope (SEM). Cellulose acetate of acetyl content of 39.66% and number average molecular weight 130,221 Da was obtained 30 minutes of activation time; one hour acetylation, and 15 hours hydrolysis. The addition of PEG produced a thickner layer and suppress the formation of macrovoid. SEM analysis shows a denser structure membrane morphology with better regularity of pore shape. The resulting membranes which were coagulated at lower temperature shows dense structure. High flux with low rejection obtained from the membrane with greater porosity and pore distribution. MWCO determination was based on the value of 80% rejection of dextran and BSA standard solution and the obtained pore size ranges obtained ≤ 67 kDa, and is still categorized as ultrafiltration membrane</text>
