<text>In this research,  high density  polyetylene (HDPE) reinforced oil palm empty fruit bunch fiber micro composites to improve the mechanical properties were prepared using melt blending and hot press technique. Oil palm empty fruit bunch fiber as a filler reduces in sizes 63, 75, 90, and 106 µm.  Oil palm empty fruit bunch fiber were mixed with in 10 mL MAPE 8% (in xylene) solution up evenly. The variation composition ratio of HDPE in filler is : (80: 20, 70:30 60:40, 50:50). The good results showed that composite boards are tested viable filler and matrix ratio 30%:70%, 3.969 to 12.243 Mpa of tensile strength, the value of the melting point (Tm) of 400.05 to 497, 07oC for thermal properties, FT-IR analysis results indicate that the groups contained in the matrix and the filler is still present in the composite board products. The SEM photograph tests showed that the best products are the smallest filler size is 63 µm, and 4943.4 J/m2 ofImpact strength test obtained. The results of this study can be applied as part of an electronic element and the casing, because high heat resistance, is a semiconductor, not easily broken and durable</text>

<text>Fermentation is used mainly to free the beans from the pulp, preventing growth, improving appearance, and facilitating subsequent process. Nowadays, fermentation becomes one of the important steps for better quality and taste of chocolatte. Fermentation methods may vary from country to country. Indonesian farmers mostly use wooden container instead of stacking the beans on the ground. Due to the simplycity and practical important to the farmers in improving quality of cocoa beans, available containers which are easy to be found around the village is used. The containers choosen in this reasearch are wooden box, rattan bucket and plastic bucket. The percentage of fermented beans and their mass temperatures are affected by the thickness of bean mass. Therefore, it is necessary for adjusting the thickness of beans which are placed in different containers and different size. The aim of this research is to improve the quality of fermented cocoa beans by selecting appropriate type of fermenting containers, size, and their optimal thickness of the bean mass.  The variable of these research are containers (wooden box, palstic bucket, and rattan bucket) and bean mass depth (30, 40 cm). During fermentation, changes in temperature, pH, and sugar content were recorded within 12 hours interval time. Analysis of dried fermented beans included water content, fat content, pH, cut test, and free fatty acids. Results shows that bean mass temperature highly  increased up to the third day and slowly decreased on the fourth and the fifth day. The highest temperature was 43.4oC occurred in beans placed in rattan bucket at  thickness of 40 cm. Unlike pH, during fermentation, the pH becomes extremely acidic occurred from intial day (5.45-5.85) to the third day (3.05-3.25), but on the fifth day the trend of pH value is increased. Sugar content shows that the initial sugar content average was 9.5% and then decreased to 3.4% on the first day. On the second day, the amount of sugar was below 2% and decreased to 0.3% on the fifth day. Among different containers wooden box shows highest fermented beans compared to other containers</text>

This study aim was to determine the limits of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) to drought stress conditions in vitro using PEG. This research was conducted at the Tissue Culture Laboratory Unit / Laboratorium Kultur Jaringan UPT/Balai Benih Induk Hortikultura Dinas Pertanian Propinsi Sumatera Utara, Jl. Karya Jasa No. 6 Gedung Johor Medan in March 2012 to June 2012. The Completely Randomized Design (non factorial) was used with PEG concentrations of five levels, namely: P1 = 10%, P2 = 20%, P3= 30%, P4 = 40% and P5 = 50% with 5 replications. The results showed that increasing the concentration of PEG will reduce the percentage of plantlets survival, reduce plant height, number of roots and number of nodes. Treatment of 50% PEG resulted in the death of potato cuttings due to drought stress.</text>

<text>Spatio-temporal pattern of spiders are important in ecosystems because from the pattern we can see the interaction of spiders population with their habitat. In this paper the spatio-temporal pattern of wolf spiders (Lycosidae) in oil palm plantation was studied. It was conducted at Yayasan Pahang Oil Palm Plantation, Endau Rompin, Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia which were managed by the Yayasan Pahang Plantation Sdn. Bhd in two selected blocks (B36 and B37) for one plot each. Samplings were made from May 2010 to April 2011 usingpitfall trap method and operated at different temporal spans. This was to compare the variations in spatialtemporal pattern at different plots and times. Pitfall traps were arranged in grid 10 x 5 for each plot and the pitfall were flushed into the ground. This sampling method was effective for ground-dwelling arthropods besides it was low cost methods and continuous sampling effort (active during day and night). The samples were preserved into 70% ethyl alcohol and 30% of glycerol. A total of 272 individuals of Lycosidae were collected during the study periods. Spatial pattern of Lycosidae were analysed using SADIE while the maps for the distribution were generated using SURFER. The environmental factors such as soil properties, climatic conditions, prey predator interactions and management practices for the plantations might be affecting the population and distribution for Lycosidae which were needed further investigation. In conclusion, the abundance and distribution patterns of Lycosidae were vary greatly between months</text>

<text>Omega-3 fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are essential fatty acids with numerous health benefits. The main sources of these fatty acids are fish and fish oils. However, fish supply is limited and the availability is uncertain. There are two main problems with regard to fish supply: overfishing and mercury contamination. In addition, food enrichment with fish oil is apparently challenging due to sensitivity of fish oil to oxidation, and fishy smell which make them less attractive to consumers. Based on above problems, alternative sources of EPA and DHA must be found. Analternative for omega-3 fatty acids are microalgae. This research aims to isolate, identify, and find microalgae biodiversity that are able to produce omega-3 fatty acids in their cells. Microalgae were isolated from fallen, senescent leaves of mangrove tree (Kandelia candel) in two locations in Aceh. The colonies were identified morphologically using light and stereo microscopes with 1000x magnifications. The results were compared with those in literatures. This research has isolated and identified some genus of microalgae thatwere predicted belong to order Labyrinthulida and family Thraustochytriidae. Morphological observations have also confirm identification of one fungi, genus Mortierella. All identified microalgae and fungi are omega-3 fatty acids producers, mainly EPA and DHA</text>

<text>The increase of current fossil fuel consumption has led to an increase of soot emission into atmosphere.  Accurate prediction of soot production and destruction in a combustion system is not only important for the purpose of the design of the system, but also vital for the operation of the combustor. Numerous soot models have been proposed to predict the soot production and destruction in a flame, categorized as empirical, semi-empirical and detailed soot models.  Although the detailed model represents the highest level of soot modelling, its use has been impaired by substantial requirement of resources of computer and time. Therefore, empirical and semi-empirical approaches still have their position in soot modelling of practical combustors. In this study, two soot models, single-step and two-step models are examined in the simulation of atmospheric turbulent non-premixed sooting flames. The soot models are compared and evaluated for their performance in predicting soot level in methane and ethylene non-premixed flames.  The commercial software Fluent 6.3 was used to perform the calculations of flow and mixing fields, combustion and soot. Standard k-ε and eddy dissipation models were selected as solvers for the representation of the turbulence and combustion, respectively.  The two soot models used in the study are available directly from the code for evaluation. The results show that the two-step model clearly performed far better than the single-step model in predicting the soot level in both methane and ethylene non-premixed flames. With a slight modification in the constant a of the soot formation equation, the two-step model was capable of producing prediction of soot level closer to experimental data.  In contrast, the single-soot model produced very poor results, leading to a significant under-prediction of soot levels in both flames.</text>

The co-solvent used are tetrahydrofuran and hexane. The experimental result shows that the transesterification rate was improved when compared to the system without cosolvents. The biodiesel produced in the experiment was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), which showed that methyl oleate was the highest compound in biodiesel.</text>

One anticipation step is to set the sustainable food farming land (LPPB). This study aims to provide information about the food farming land that should be protected from the threat of conversion in the district of Aceh Besar. The approach taken is through the classification of land based on biophysicalpotency. Data obtained through survey, observation, secondary data collection, and literature studies. The study results indicate that there are four categories of paddy land, namely: the main land I (9 districts), the main land II (7 districts), the secondary land I (5 districts), and secondary land II (2 districts). The main land is the land which is suggested to be an everlasting land (sustainable) for reliable biophysical characteristics, while the secondary land could be converted as long as it is based on the main reason and more urgent.</text>

The samples of feces were collected from 15 captive orangutans in Orangutan Sumatera Batu Mbelin Sibolangit Qurantine, North Sumatra. Of each sample was cultured in nutrient broth media using sterilecotton swabs or Pasteur pipettes, and incubated at 37°C temperature for 24 hours. Culture was spared on Methylene Blue Agar (Oxoid), examined by Gram staining, and tested by biochemically. The result showed that significantly more common appear Escherichia sp. (93,33%) and fewer Edwardsiella sp. (66,67%) wereisolated from feces samples of P. abelii. Others enterobacteriaceae found in feces of P. Abelii were Shigella sp. (46,67%), Klebsiella sp. <text>The paper aims to present the process of preliminary study on Acehnese manuscript about fara’idh. The script presented the law in the form of a compact table, written in Jawi script and Arabic. The research studied the table formation and filled it with the content of another fara’idh table from the current reference. This step was done to do the comparison of the two tables to get insights of the old table before further investigation about its mathematical properties. Previous investigation showed some differences in the writing of parts of the tables. This research continued to see the differences of the whole tables. Further purpose is to re implement the usage of the table in Acehnese daily use as well as broader advantage</text>
