<text>After affected by the giant tsunami waves following the 9.1 earthquake on December 26, 2004 in Aceh province of Indonesia, many of natural resources were damaged, including the loss of germplasm of rice in low land area. Therefore, we attempt to collect and evaluate the Acehnese germplasm of rice. We identified the Acehnese accession of rice by describing the characteristics of the rice plant using cultivation method of system for rice intensification or SRI with organic approach. Some of the descriptors include days of tillage formation, days from emergence to flowering, kernel weight, plant height, and yield components. We found that the Acehnese rice germplasm collection is very diverse: the days of tillage formation is 6 to 18 days after planting; the days from emergence to flowering is 56 to 90 days, plant height is 77 to 121 cm, and 1,000 kernel weight is 19.47 to 30.27 g. So, we concluded that the diversity of Acehnese rice is very rich, the rice accessions were identified and now stored in the cool storage system. Evaluation of the accession showed considerable promise as material research with high yield potential, high levels of tolerance to stresses such as weeds, drought, acidity and blast for further evaluation. The progenies might provide the improved sustainability of intensified systems through durable crop resistance to biotic and abiotic stress. In the future, characterization traits will be selected for resistance to pests-diseases, and tolerance to drought and salinity stresses, as well as analysis of grain quality. We will also develop the high multiple resistance to environmental stresses.</text>

<text>This study was undertaken to investigate soil Actinomycetes from grand forest park of Pocut Meurah Intan as well as to evaluate their potential to produce antimicrobial compounds. The study was conducted in Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Syiah Kuala University from February to July 2012. The research was carried out by using an explorative method with laboratorial evaluation. Three different soil samples were taken from a depth of 10-20 cm below the soil surface and isolated on YM agar medium. During the investigation, 24 isolates were recovered and exhibited various morphological characteristics. The results of the antimicrobial assay showed that 14 isolates (58.33%) were active against one or more of the test organisms. Among the 14 active isolates, one isolate (7.14%) showed antibacterial activity; 9 isolates (64.29%) showed antifungal activity; and 4 isolates (28.57%) exhibited a broad-spectrum activity against both of the test bacteria and fungi. The inhibitory activity were also varied, ranged from weak (<5 mm), moderate (5-19 mm), to strong (>20 mm). The highest antimicrobial activity was presented by ATH-17 against Candida albicans (34.50 mm), while the lowest was exhibited by ATH-15 against Escherichia coli (0.20 mm).</text>

As other types of native starch that lack of physical and chemical characteristics, the sweet potato flour then is very limited in use. To improve the starch characteristics, it can be made by modifying the starch physically. This study was focused on modification of starch phisically by using autoclaving-cooling method with differ in steaming times (15 and 30 minutes) and drying methods (oven and sun drying). The results showed that the modified flour of sweet potato by autoclaving-cooling for one cycle has produce sweet potato flour with a granular structure that can expand and break, lower in starch content, higher in freezing and thawing stability, higher in water absorption index, and lower in hot and cooling viscosities</text>

<text>Rubber seeds have no dormancy, germinate rapidly and fungal growth is the limiting factor influencing storage period of seed viability. Solution of Polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG 6000) have osmotic potential and osmotic adjustment that is used as a coating material is expected to be a preservative during storage. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of polyethylene glycol 6000 in inducing secondary dormancy by reducing the seeds germination and fungus growth to maintain the seed viability in storage period and to test seed viability and vigor after storage period. First stage of the study was using nonfactorial completely randomized design with four levels of polyethylene glycol with four replications, namely:PEG 6000 (w / v): 0%, 15%, 30%, 45%; The second step, was germination phase in germination tub after the storage period. The first study showed that concentration of 15% PEG 6000 to 45% were able to induced secondary dormancy by delaying seed germination from 0.67% to 0.33%, that significantly different from the 0% PEG 6000 (17.67%) that was able to reduced fungal seed from 16.33 to 26.33% andwas not significantly different in each treatment. The second study showed that PEG 6000 can maintain viability and vigor of seeds with seed germination above 97%, seedlings height 22.40 cm and number of leaves was 7.16. PEG 30% is the best concentration to increase the shelf life period of rubber seed andmaintained morphological characteristics after storage period. The higher the concentration of PEG 6000 the higher were the seed viability during shelf. The morphology and growth of the seedlings, had the same adaptability to the tub germination in planting medium.</text>

<text>Serology remains the only way to monitor the effectiveness of vaccination of humans and animals against rabies. Many techniques for determining the level of rabies antibodies have been described, and all of the methods used rabies viruses as antigen. Indeed attenuated viruses can revert to a more virulent form, and inactivated virus may produce serious side effects. Anti-idiotype Ab can induce protective immune response against rabies virus, its means that anti-idiotype Ab can be used as surrogate antigen in serological test. The aim of this study is to prepare the anti-idiotype antibody (anti-idiotype Ab) as diagnostic kit in rabies serological test. Polyclonal anti-idiotype Ab were prepared in laying chickens and purified using affinity chromatography column for IgY. Rabbit anti dog immunoglobuline were prepared used New Zeeland White strain, and dog anti rabies serum were prepared from rabies immunized dog. For the preparation of the kit, it takes a few stages, i.e. the making of stocks A, stocks B and prototype diagnostic kit. Stocks A is a mixture of S. aureus Cowan I intact in solution of Tris Buffer HCl with rabbit anti dog serum in various comparisons (v/v). Stocks B is a mixture of rabies anti-idiotype Ab with rabies antibody (IgG anti rabies) are harvested from dog.Comparison of the obtained between whole S. aureus Cowan I and rabbit serum anti dog is 4~6:2~4. Optimization of stocks A and B based on the principle as follows: a merger of stocks A and B must not cause coagglutination. Formulation of aqueous stocks A and B will be a candidate when the diagnostic kits on the positive control produces coagglutination and negative controls do not produce coagglutination. The conclusions of this study is the anti-idiotype antibody can used and prepared as kit diagnostic with the principle of coagglutination by utilizing A protein of S. aureus.</text>

<text>Improving skill and knowledge in making a diagnosis and management of late post partum hemorrhage.Globally, more than half a million women die annually due to pregnancy and childbirth. Bleeding causes 28% of the direct causes of maternal deaths and remains the most common cause of maternal death. In developing countries, several countries have maternal mortality ratio over 1000 women per 100,000 live births, and WHO statistics illustrates that 25% of maternal deaths resulting from post partum hemorrhage, which counted more than 100,000 maternal deaths per year. Postpartum hemorrhage can be divided into 2 types: early postpartum hemorrhage, which occurs within 24 hours of delivery, and late postpartum hemorrhage, which occurs 24 hours to 6 weeks after delivery. Most cases of postpartum hemorrhage, greater than 99%, are early postpartum hemorrhage. Notably, most women are still under the care of their delivering provider during this time. But a few are considered late postpartum hemorrhage. Here we presented case series consisted of two cases with late postpartum hemorrhage. Both of them enrolled in Zainoel Abidin General Hospital OBGYN emergency ward as an outpatient post c-section patient. The first case was a 38 years old Indonesian women, Parity 4, post-cesarean section that comes with hypovolemic shock and post partum hemorrhage and foul smelling lochia. Six days after treatment the patient is discharged with good condition with abnormalities found in the form of disturbances of uterine contractions and uterine infection. The second case was a 19 years old, parity 1, post-Caesarean section 120 days ago for CPD indication that comes with recurrent bleeding after the operation. Curettage of the endometrium was then done to the patient in Bireun Hospital prior to the Zainoel Abidin General Hospital, but the bleeding persisted. Patients were then treated for 10 days and discharged with good condition with a diagnosis of abnormal uterine bleeding. With many women delivering outside of hospitals and early postpartum hospital discharge being a growing trend, postpartum hemorrhage that presents to the emergency department may be either early or late. Late post partum hemorrhage though a minority still poses great risk to maternal health. Key management of both early and late HPP are rapid assesment and diagnosis of conditions, restoration of blood volume and simultaneously search for the cause. HPP diagnosis is confirmed by observing the amount of bleeding and the patient's clinical symptoms. Management of HPP requires teamwork and a systematic yet comprehensive management</text>

The aim of this research was to examine the effect of excretory/secretory product released by L3 of A. galli to prevent intestine destructions based on villous compact in duodenum, jejunum, and ileum of laying hens. Excretory/secretory was prepared from metabolic of L3 released in culture médium in flasks containingrosswell park memorial institute (RPMI) 1640 media, pH 6.8, without phenol red. Excretory/secretory product was concentrated with vivaspin 30.000 MWCO. The chickens vaccinated with 80 >g protein excretory/secretory in crudemixed with Fruend Adjuvant Complete and repeated three times with dose of each 60 >g mixed with Freund Adjuvant Incomplete with an interval of one week intra muscularly. The chickens were challenged with 1000 infective larvae A. galli one week later. After two weeks the chickens were operated. Villous compact in duodenum, jejunum, and ileum of laying hens were analyzed. The result showed that immunization was able to sustained significantly intestinevillus compact, particularly in duodenum. This research concluded that the excretory/secretory product could protect villus in duodenum against parasitic diseases caused by A. galli.</text>

<text>The elderly should be screened in the community for risk for falls. It impacts significantly on their ability to still be active and productive even during aging. This study determined the risk for falls among Philippine urban community-dwellers 65 years old and above. Participants were ambulatory elderly peopleregistered in a government centre in one city. Data collection was done by interviewing elders and assessing fall risk factors. Data analyses were done using descriptive statistics and SPSS version 16 was used to correlate variables. Fall risk predictive factor is age. 63.3% of the participants are categorized as young-old to middle old. Protective factor fall risk is being married and/or living with family, which is 65.3% of this group. Confidence level in performance and completion of tasks were measured by Activity-Based Confidence (ABC), which showed 71.5% has moderate level of confidence. However, confidence level isinsufficiently-proven by literature to predict falls. Depression is statistically significant related factor for falls and was measured by Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Results showed that 87.7% has mild depression. Functional mobility capacity of the participants, namely balance and gait, and flexibility were measured by Tinetti Balance and Gait Scores (TBGS) and Chair Sit-and-Reach Test (CSRT), respectively. TBGS yielded 46.9%, and CSRT yielded 67.3%, which is low risk for falls. Correlation between TBGS and GDS, and TBGS and ABC were arrived at by using Spearman Rho. It yielded a significant relationship (r = 0.358, p = 0.012) between balance and gait with a depressive state, and no significant relationship (r = -0.136, p = 0.352) between balance and gait with confidence level, respectively</text>

<text> Abstract. Advanced statistical codes we present in MINITAB statistical environment, produces comprehensive computational and graphical outputs for the best stability analysis, additive main and multiplicative interaction effect (AMMI). The experiment comprised of a population of doubled-haploid wheat lines at 2006-2009 ys. As lattice designs. The results of AMMI analysis of grain yield showed the significant (P<0.01) effect of years, lines, and their interaction effect, along with 49.1, 7.80 & 20.63% of the total variation, respectively. Also the written macro partitioned the GEI effect to three IPCA scores, accounted for 40.70, 35.32 & 23.96% of the GEI, respectively. The results of the cross-validation with FR (Cornelius) indicated the appropriateness of AMMI2 model, whereby the biplots of genotypes & years drawn, by which the stable genotypes were chosen. This program provided useful computations such as: principal component analysis, cluster analysis, Finlay-Wilkinson stability regression analysis and so on. In general, this program has a high potential for AMMI yield (etc) stability analyses, following estimating their parameters and could be applied by researchers working with stability analysis in plant breeding programs to obtain the most tolerant/resistant cultivars during multienvironment trials.</text>
