<text>The aim of this study was to identify the level of health care worker`s (HCW) stigmatized and discriminatory (S&D) attitude towards people living with HIV (PLHIV) and the factors that influenced this attitude. This research was conducted at the Dr. Zainoel Abidin General Hospital (RSUDZA) in Banda Aceh province of Indonesia. A cross-sectional study design was adopted for this research. Eighty nine HCWs were included in this study and they were selected purposively. Pearson correlation analysis, analysis of variance or independent sample t test analysis was used according to the type of data. We found that the level of S&D attitude towards PLHIV in RSUDZA is high. Based on the Least Significant Difference Test, the average score of the answers between nurses and general practitioners and between nurses and medical students was significantly different(p=0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that the levels of S&D attitude towards PLHIV was positively correlated with age (r=0.219, p=0.04) and irrational fear of HIV transmission (r=0.352, p=0.001) and negatively correlated with knowledge about HIV/AIDS (r=-0.336, p=0.001). Pearson correlation analysis also found that knowledge of HIV/AIDS negatively correlated with the irrational fear of HIV transmission (r=0.382, p=0.000). In addition, the level of S&D attitude towards PLHIV was also associated with marital status of HCWs (p=0.020). Gender, education level, religion and the importance of religion in HCW lives wasn`t significantly affect to the level of S&D attitude towards PLHIV in HCW. We concluded that the factors that influence the level of S&D attitude towards PLHIV among the HCW are age, marital status, knowledge of HIV/AIDS, irrational fear of HIV transmission and HCWs occupations. To reduce S&D attitude towards PLHIV among the HCWs, we recommend introducing some program to increase knowledge of HIV/AIDS</text>

<text>The main objective of this research is to determine the effect of beating to physical, mechanical and optical properties of the paper. The pulp that is used in this research is pulp from Oil Palm Frond (OPF). Pulping method that was carried out in this research is the kraft pulping which was undergo in 4 different conditions (20% NaOH: 20% Na2S; 20% NaOH, 30% Na2S; 30% NaOH, 20% Na2S and 30% NaOH, 30% Na2S). The beating process is carried out using PFI Mill Beater and five amounts of beating were imposed to each pulp (0, 250, 500, 750 and 1500 rotations). From the result obtained, the freeness (CSF) of the pulp was decreased against the increasing amount of beating. The optimum amount of beating is at 1500 rotations for tensile strength (5981.1 N/m), bursting strength (660.72 kPa) and folding endurance (915). For tearing resistance (730.23 mN), the optimum amount of beating is at 250 rotations. Beating also contributes to reduce the brightness and the opacity too. The result show that suitable beating stage for kraft OPF pulp is at 1500 rotations, because almost all testing give optimum or closely to optimum result at this amount of beating.</text>

<text>This paper discuss the impact of dispersion and non-linear terms combinations the surface wave equation particularly on the peaking phenomena of the wave water that initially in the form of a bichromatic wave. The study for both of these terms are focused on the position where the bichromatic wave experience its highest peaking and its related bichromatic amplitude amplification. In the previous study, the position where the bichromatic wave experience its highest peaking is of order and its bichromatic amplitude amplification is of order , where and are the amplitude and frequency of the bichromatic wave envelope, respectively. This result is based on the fifth order Korteweg de Vries (KdV) equation and the quantity that obtained is called Maximal Temporal Amplitude (MTA). However, despite the the position where the bichromatic wave experience its highest peaking suits the result of Stansberg experiment and the result of numerical calculation using HUBRIS, its related bichromatic wave amplitude amplification is not close enough. The source of this discrepancy is suspected from the dispersion and non-linear terms of the KdV equation used. This study shows that the existence of the dispersion and non-linear terms influences the position of Maximal Temporal Amplitude (MTA) and its bichromatic wave amplitude amplification. For the coefficient of dispersion term of 1.0065 and nonlinear term of , the position of MTA and bichromatic wave amplitude amplification suits the result of Stansberg experiment and the result of numerical calculation using HUBRIS</text>

<text> Abstract. Rice, the second most important crop after wheat, has been cultivated in Iran. Marketing conditions and quality traits after yield are the most important factors to adopt of new varieties. Therefore in recent years Iranian scientists decided to training on breeding improved high yield varieties with good grain quality.Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) yield and grain quality traits of rice (Oryza sativa L.) with additive, epistatic, and QTL × environment (QE) interaction effects were studied using a mixed-model-based composite interval mapping (MCIM) method and two populations of Back cross inbred lines (BILs) with a common maternal parent. In each of the populations two or three main effects of QTLs were detected for yield, amylose content, gel consistency and gelatinization temperature. Some identified QTL clusters suggested pleiotropic effects could control these traits. The phenotypic variation of AAE and AA QTLs effects were smaller than main QTLs. We conclude that the major genes and some minor and modifier genes controlled rice grain quality and yield components. The information obtained in this study have used to manipulating the QTLs for these traits by molecular marker-assisted selection and the best lines with excellent quality and high yield recognized</text>

<text>Nowadays, the medical concerns with Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aereus (MRSA) arised when in 2009, the proportion of S. aureus isolates that are resistant to methicilin has increased to 59.5%- 64.4% in South East Asia. Hence a new antibacterial agent from natural source is necessary to combat the infectious diseases. This study aimed to investigate the anti-MRSA activity of the endophytic fungus Penicillium minioluteum ED24, which was previously isolated from the leaf of the medicinal plant Orthosiphon stamineus Benth, in Penang, Malaysia. Methanol was used to extract the freeze-dried fungal biomass of the 14-days old fungal culture. The extract showed very significant anti-MRSA activity of disc diffusion assay with the minimal inhibitory concentration of 31.3 mg/mL and minimal lethality concentration of 250 mg/mL. Besides, 50% growth reduction of MRSA was observed at 33.2 h at the concentration of extract at MIC and 26.7 h at concentration of 2MIC. The structural degeneration of MRSA was observed by using scanning electron microscope (SEM). The SEM micrographs showed that the formation of cavities were observe on the extract treated cells and the cell wall structure of the MRSA was collapsed after treated with the fungal extract. The results suggesting that the bacterial cell wall is the target of the antibiotic compound(s) present in the extract. These results reveal that the endophytic fungus P. minioluteum ED24 a is potential source of anti-MRSA compounds</text>

<text>The recent study has been conducted to develop testicular germ cell (TGC) transplantation as a tool for preservation and propagation of male germ-plasm from endangered fish species. In practice of TGC transplantation, recipient and donor cell may not be immediately available at the same time whereas the testis can not be survive longer when it is outside of the body. Therefore, preservation of testis tissue may be required before transplantation. The research was conducted to evaluate the viability of spermatogonia isolated from short term preserved testis. Testis was preserved in physiological NaCl solution at 4 oC for 6, 12, 24 and 48 hours. Testis were dissociated in 0.5% trypsin and 3% DNase 10 IU/8L in PBS (phosphate buffered solution) complemented with 5% FBS ( fetal bovine serum), 25 mM HEPES and 1mM CaCl2 to obtain testicular germ cell suspension. The testicular germ cells isolated from 24 and 48 hours preservation were performed in trypan blue staining dye (1:1) and the viability of spermatogonia were observed under microscope. The results showed that the viability of spermatogonia started todecrease significantly in 12 hours preservation (P<0.05) and up to 48 hours preservation, cell viability was as high as 54,48±8,33%. In conclusion, preserved testicular tissue at 4oC still produced viable spermatogonia that areallowed to use as the source of donor cell for testicular germ cell transplantation of giant gourami.</text>

<text>The intertidal shores around Penang Island were surveyed for the distribution of barnacles from 14th November 2011 to 31st January 2012. The sampling was done by using 20 cm x 20 cm transect to count the barnacles. Three replicates were taken for each zonation available of the intertidal areas; i.e. upper, middle, and lower zonations, at every sampling site. From the result, three species were identified, including Euraphia withersi and Chthamalus malayensis from Family Chthamalidae, and Balanus amphitrite amphitrite from Family Balanidae. Chthamalus malayensis was found to be most abundant among the three species with 44.24% of total population; and Tg. Tokong recorded the highest abundance of this species (28.22%). This was followed by Euraphia withersi with 38.77%; which was found to be densely populated at Gelugor (21.92%). Balanus amphitrite amphitritewas least abundant with only 16.99% and mostly found at Gurney Drive (26.24%).The distribution of the three species of barnacles also varied among the sampling locations. Gertak Sanggul recorded the highest relative abundance of all three species of barnacles at 18.01%; while the location with the least relative abundance of barnacles is Queensbay with 0.33%.Based on ‘Non-Supervised Artificial Neural Network’ (ANN), distinct zonation was observed where Chthamalus malayensis was more dominant on the upper zonation; Euraphia withersi on the middle zonation; and Balanus amphitrite amphitrite on the lower zonation. The interaction betweenbarnacles with other barnacles leads to competitive exclusion and niche partitioning which created zonations among the species. Interspecies interaction that brought by predation also played a part in the distribution of barnacles. Apart from that, the distribution was affected by the sampling sites and humanactivities; such as embankment, land reclamation, and residential development.</text>

<text>Teaching chemistry must include some learning skills in scientific works. The students must have experience conducting small research in chemistry to train them the scientific methods. Some chemistry projects have been carried out by the students of teaching training college (FKIP) as called pre-service teachers in chemistry subject. The students were given research problem that is how to formulate a simple sensor for detection of formalin in contaminated food. The students were asked to review literature on the composition and analysis technique of formalin. The students wrote the research proposal and presented their proposal in front of four reviewers before they start conducting research. The project of formalin sensor preparation was started with studies of the active reagent composition in liquids phase, immobilizing the active reagent in soft media, and following with studies of the sensor sensitivity toward formalin contamination in food. The Schiff Fuchsine (SF) and NASH methods for aldehyde determination were chosen as the basic theory for formalin determination. Schiff Fuchsine (SF) in diluted sulfuric acid solution was kept overnight before use. The media for holding of the reagent was cotton coated with chitosan, then it was pasted in tacon foil, this sensor was called forpastrip (student project-1). It could detect formalin as low as 2% (v/v) of formalin or equivalent with 0,8% of formaldehyde in contaminated food and the expired date was 10 weeks. The forpastrips was tested on food and the chemical interference was also studied (student project-2). Another project was also carried by replacing the cotton with synthetic felt and this formula was recorded as student project-3. The SF reagent immobilized in synthetic felt coated by chitosan was inserted into narrow-plastic straws. The sensitivity of this sensor increased and the detection limit as low as 0.25% (v/v) of formalin in contaminated food and the expired date was more than 12 weeks. The forth project was replacing SF with NASH reagent immobilized in cotton coated by chitosan and inserted in narrow-plastic straws. The detection limit was 0.015% (v/v) of formalin in contaminated food. All Sensors were still effective to detect formalin in sample although the sample contained of sugar, salt, fat and protein as the impurity. The research findings were written by students in their final report (script, like a thesis) after approved by the two supervisors. They students then presented their research in comprehensive exam in front of reviewers before they were graduated. Having interviews with students, they claimed that they have experience in conducting research, have followed all scientific methods. They said the research theme is very interesting, simple, contextual and it might be applied in high schoo</text>
