<text>Cellular transplantation using stem cells provides very promising solutions in the regeneration and repairment of cells that have experienced degeneration where recovery through medical or surgical intervension is impossible. However, the very low viability of transplanted stem cells limits the transplantation efficacy. The aim of this research was to obtain viable bone marrow derived stem cells by an adaptation treatment in a low oxygen tensioned in vitro culture. Low oxygen tension adaptation was adjusted to the niche of the stem cells in vivo. In this study, in vitro culture of stem cells in 1% oxygen was compared to those of the conventional culture in 21 % oxygen. Results showed that under 1% oxygentension cell proliferation was slower with larger or rounded triangle shaped cells, and senescence or dead cells was low. Meanwhile under 21 % oxygen tension cell proliferation was two fold faster with flattened and slender cells, and senescence or dead cells was higher. In conclusion, conventional in vitro culture under 21% oxygen caused cell aging (senescence) and rapid cell death, therefore the transplanted cells were not viable.</text>

<text> Abstact. The development of telecommunication technologies has shown remarkable improvement rapidly in this decade, one of which is in information computer and telecommunication technology. On the other hand, the services can be provided with the advance of information technology has not reached all levels of society. In Indonesia, geographic and demographic factors are among the obstacles that limit the dissemination of information. This generally occurs in remote areas such as Pulo Aceh region. To solve the problem, this study proposes a solution to overcome the isolation of information. The technology chosen for the dissemination of information is the Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DVB-T) using High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) technology to provide the services. The implementation of HAPS technology is expected to be able to be used as an alternative for minimizing the high cost of terrestrial infrastructure investment. This discussion is devoted to the planning of implementing HAPS in Pulo Aceh to serve the needs of communication to that community. Based on ITU recommendation, the results show that the analysis of link budget calculation with elevation angle, 34.060 has met the standard requirement. It can be concluded that Pulo Aceh can be served by a single HAPS both in terms of capacity and coverage area.</text>

<text>This paper presents the results obtained from the application of both computational fluid dynamics (CFD) Fluent 6.3 and Design Expert codes to modelling and optimizing a gas-solid cyclone separator based upon its geometrical parameters. A pre-processor software GAMBIT was employed to set up the configuration, discretisation, and boundary conditions of the cyclone.  A commercial CFD code FLUENT 6.3 was employed to simulate the flow field and particle dynamics in the cyclone. The optimization study was performed under either a constant gas inlet flow rate of 0.075 m3/s or a constant inlet gas velocity of 18 m/s. A response surface methodology with three levels (-1, 0, and +1) was employed as the experimental design. Independent variables to be optimized include the ratio of inlet gas width to diameter of the cyclone, W/D, the ratio of conical length to diameter, Lc/D and the ratio outlet diameter to cyclone diameter De/D. The response variables of collection efficiency and pressure drop were correlated in the forms of quadratic polynomial equations. The simultaneous optimization of the response variables has been implemented using a desirability function (DF) approach, computed with the aid of Design Expert software.  The results of investigation showed that at constant flow rate, the following optimum ratios of W/D =0,28, Lc/D =1,5,  and De/D =0,52 were obtained to give a collection efficiency of 90% and a pressure drop of 155 Pa. At the constant inlet gas velocity, the following optimum ratios of W/D =0,25, Lc/D =1,5,  and De/D =0,57 were obtained to give a collection efficiency of 90% and a pressure drop of 190 Pa. This findings indicate that gas inlet treatment at either constant flow rate or constant inlet gas velocity does not produce significant difference on the collection efficiency, but does give significant influence on the pressure drop.</text>

Theaim of study is to find the optimum condition of the type of used matrixs and the percentage of added coupling agent on the quality of the producedcomposites. Compositeswere prepared byhot press method. Hot press process was performed at a temperature of 150 oC for 30 minutes. After cooling to room temperature, the product was tested oftensile strength, bending strength, thermal test and FTIR. The results show thatcompositesprepared byvirgin HDPE have much betterphysical and mechanical properties compared to composites prepared by recycled HDPE. The highest tensile strength valueof 5.69 MPawas foundon composite withmatrix of virgin HDPE and addition of 4 wt% MAPE. While the highest bending strength valueof 0.35 Mpa was obtained oncomposite with matrix of recycled HDPE and addition of 2 wt% MAPE. The presence of a number of MAPE concentration in the mixture resulted in increased adhesion properties between rice husk and HDPE thereby increasing the physical mechanical properties of composites.</text>

<text>Northern Australia contains a rich freshwater biodiversity due largely to low levels of human impact. Most rivers remain unimpacted and free-flowing. The latter characteristic is important as it ensures that natural levels of connectivity throughout the riverine landscape exist and organisms and, importantly, carbon and nutrients, can be shifted between ecosystems and different parts of the landscape. This high degree of connectivity differs between rivers according to their flow regime however; most rivers of northern Australia are highly seasonal and flow intermittently. The present paper details the importance ofmaintaining connectivity within the river and between the river and its floodplain for the maintenance of species diversity and the structure of aquatic food webs. It draws upon large datasets concerning fish biodiversity and several foodweb studies using stable isotopes assembled or conducted with the TropicalRivers and Coastal Knowledge program to illustrate the importance of connectivity</text>

<text>Cadmium (Cd) is a common industrial pollutant with long biological half-life, which makes it a cumulative toxicant. Near-infrared spectroscopy has been successfully used for quick and accurate assessment of Cd content in agricultural materials, but the development of a quick detection method for ground and drinking water samples is of equal importance for pollution monitoring. Metals have no absorbance in the NIR spectral range, thus the methods developed so far have focused on detection of metal-organic complexes. This study uses Aquaphotomics to measure Cd in aqueous solutions by analyzing the changes in water spectra that occur due to water-metal interaction. Measurements were performed with Cd (II) in 0.1 M HNO3, in the 680-1090 nm (water second and third overtones) and 1110-1800 nm (water first overtone) spectral regions, and were subjected to partial least-square regression analysis. A concentration of Cd from 1 mg L-1 to 10 mg L-1 could be predicted by this model with average prediction correlation coefficient of 0.897. The model was tested by perturbations with temperature and other metal presence in the solution. The regression coefficient showed consistent peaks at 728, 752, 770, 780, 1362, 1430,1444, 1472/1474 and 1484 nm under various perturbations, indicating that these water absorbance changes were due to Cd presence. The residual predictive deviation values (RPD) were greater than 2, indicating that the model is appropriate for practical use</text>

<text>A study was conducted to examine some poultry sellers’ perception of the Avian influenza (birdflu) in nine locations (Ulee Kareng, Batoh, Lamnyong, Kampong Baru, Peunayong, Setui, Kampong Ateuk, and Neusu) in Banda Aceh Municipality, Indonesia. Primary data were obtained with the use of a structured questionnaire administared to ninety nine (99) respondents selected using proportional stratified random sampling, between November to December 2011. Information was obtained using the questionnaire sheets contain questions: knowladge, attitude, availability of facilities, and the effort of Avian influenza prevention strategy. Data obtained were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The result showed that only 52% of the poultry sellers’ had good knowledge of early symptomps of Avian influenza. Amount 59% of the poultry sellers’ had good attitudes. Result also showed that 73% of respondents had good facilities that was available in live poultry market area, but only 70% of respondents were good awareness about the effort of Avian influenza prevention strategy. In addition, the respondents who had more knowledge, good attitudes, and/or good facilities were also those who actually acted more preventively. Based on the result we concluded that the poultry sellers’ perception on prevention strategy for infection of birdflu in Banda Aceh categorized as poor. It is suggested that compliance with preventive measures may be enhanced through behavioural modification and building awareness through communication, training, workshop programs to the live poultry market sellers’ in Banda Aceh</text>

As an illustration, we will consider the use of R for teaching the subject frequency distribution table, both using the R-CLI and R-GUI version. The R-GUIversion used here is a part of Rplugin.SPSS which is currently under our extensive development. Rplugin.SPSS is a R Commander Plugin, which is a reorganized and an extented version of the menu of Statistics in R-Commander, a SPSS-like version menu. It can be also considered as the extended version of Rplugin.Econometrics (Rosadi, 2010). Further details and further examples can be found in Rosadi (2011,2013).</text>

<text>The study on the effects of biochar including its residu effect on rice is still limited. This study aimed to determine the effect of biochar residue and NPK fertilization on soil chemical properties and yield of rice (Oryzasativa L.) season three. The experiments were arranged in randomized completely block design with two factors (residual biochar and NPK fertilizer and each treatment was replicated 4 times. Biochar residue consisteds of 2 levels. .i.e. without and with biochar residue(10 tons ha-1). NPK fertilizer consisted of 3 levels that were without and with 135 kg ha-1 and 270 kg NPK ha-1. The overall results showed that the residual biochar in combination with fertilizer significantly affected cation exchange capacity, available P and K, rice growth at 45 and 90 days after planting(DAP), tiller number at 28, 35 and 45 DAP, the number of panicles/ clump, total grain and yield.</text>
