Pengolahan tanah sangat penting dalam pengendalian pemadatan tanah sebagai tindakan yang menentukan kelanjutan usaha tani pada lahan kering. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perubahan sifat fisika dan mekanika tanah akibat penggunaan traktor dengan menggunakan bajak dan tanpa bajak pada uji lintasan traktor serta mengetahui performansi traktor pada pengolahan tanah. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut tentang uji lintasan dan performansi traktor roda empat terhadap analisis sifat fisika dan mekanika tanah pada lahan kering.  Penelitian ini dilaksanakan Juni sampai Agustus 2011, dengan menggunakan metode Rancangan Petak Terbagi (RPB) pola faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor. Faktor yang diteliti adalah dan bajak. Dengan demikian diperoleh 6 kombinasi perlakuan, dan setiap perlakuan dilakukan 3 kali ulangan, sehingga terdapat 18 satuan unit percobaan. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, pengaruh lintasan dan bajak secara interaksi berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar air tanah dengan nilai tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan tanpa dilintasi dengan bajak (20,33 %), berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap plastisitas dimana nilai tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan 3 kali lintasan  dengan bajak (32,33 %). Faktor bajak berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap permeabilitas, bobot isi, kadar air, porositas dan plastisitas tanah. Faktor lintasan hanya berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap permeabilitas, bobot isi, dan porositas, sedangkan kadar air dan plastisitas tidak berpengaruh nyata.Analysis of Soil Physical to Flash and Plow of Four Wheeled TractorAbstract. Soil tillage is very important in controlling soil compaction as a decisive action of sustainable farming on dry land. Hence, it was needed to do a research in trail and performance of a four-wheeled tractor on physical and mechanical characteristics of dry land soil. The objectives of this experiment were to study the changes of physical and mechanical characteristics of soil due to uses of a tractor with and without a plow on a tractor trail test and to reckon tractor performances on tillage preparation. The study was conducted from June to August 2011, using a Split Plot Design with a factorial pattern, consisting of two factors. Factors studied were(1) trail, consisting of no trail, 1 xtrail, and 3 xtrails (2) plow, consisting of without plow and with plow. Therefore, there were six combinations, and each treatment was repeated 3 times, so that there were 18 experimental units. Results showed that trail and plow exerted a significant interaction on soil water content with the highest value in the combination of no trail with plow (20,33%), exerted a highly significant interaction on plasticity with the highest value found in a combination of 3 trails with plow (32,33%), while exerted no significant interaction on the other variables. Plow exerted highly significant effects on permeability, bulk, water content, porosity and soil plasticity. Trail exerted highly significant effects on permeability, bulk, and porosity, but exerted no significant effect on water content and plasticity. Research has been conducted to study the response of corn doubles cobs plant growth at each dose of urea and compost. The research has been ongoing in 2011 in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University by using factorial randomized trial. Four doses of urea tested each of 0, 100, 150, and 200 kg urea per ha-1, and compost 0, and 10 t ha-1. The results showed that the interaction of urea and compost significant on the growth of maize doubles cobs. The growth of corn doubles cobs relatively better the dose of compost 10 ton ha-1 which has consistently increased until the urea dose of 150 kg ha-1.Abstrak. Penelitian telah dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mempelajari respon pertumbuhan tanaman jagung tongkol ganda pada setiap dosis urea dan pupuk kompos. Penelitian telah berlangsung tahun 2011 di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala dengan menggunakan metode percobaan acak kelompok faktorial. Empat dosis urea dicobakan masing-masing 0, 100, 150, dan 200 kg Urea per ha-1, dan kompos 0, dan 10 t ha-1. The experiment was conducted in Village Suak Ni, Sub District of Johan Pahlawan, District of Aceh Barat, from June to August 2010.  Soil analysis was carried out in Laboratory Soil and Plant Analysis, Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam Banda Aceh. Variables observed were physical (porosity and bulk density) and chemistry (pH, N-total, P-available, K-available, CEC, and base saturation) characteristics and yield of peanut. Results showed that chaff ash and mineral soil (Andisol) was highly significantly interacted on pH, and significantly interacted on N-total, P-available, K-available, CEC, and base saturation, but not significantly interacted on other variables. Chaff ash exerted significant effects on total porosity, bulk density, pH, N-total, P-available, K-available, CEC, base saturation of peat, plant height 30 and 45 DAP (day after planting), filled pod percentage, empty pod percentage, weight of 100 dried grains, dried grain weight per net plot and dried grain weight per hectare, but no significant effect on plant height 15 DAP. Mineral soil exerted significant effects on porosity, bulk density, pH, N-total, P-available, K-available, CEC, base saturation, but no effects on growth and yield of peanut.Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam perubahan beberapa sifat fisika dan kimia tanah gambut serta hasil tanaman kacang tanah akibat pemberian amelioran abu sekam dan Andisol. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni 2010 sampai dengan Agustus 2010. Peubah yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah sifat fisika (porositas dan bulk density) dan kimia (pH, N-Total, P-tersedia, K-tersedia, KTK dan KB) serta hasil kacang tanah pada tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tingkat partisiasi perempuan nelayan dalam konservasi wilayah pesisir di Kecamatan Meureubo Kabupaten Aceh Barat serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya dalam konservasi wilayah pesisir. Analisis data menggunakan nilai skor dengan kategori rendah sampai tinggi, sedangkan Regresi Linier Berganda digunakan untuk menguji faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi tingkat partisipasi perempuan nelayan dalam konservasi wilayah pesisir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat partisipasi tinggi sebesar 32,5%, sedang 32,5%, rendah 35% dan secara parsial faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi partisipasi perempuan nelayan dalam konservasi wilayah pesisir yaitu pengetahuan, pendidikan, status perkawinan, pendapatan suami dan insentif. Adapun strategi intervensi untuk meningkatkan partisipasi perempuan nelayan dalam konservasi wilayah pesisir dilakukan dengan dua cara yaitu dengan memperhatikan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi partisipasi serta pengembangan strategi partisipatif sesuai dengan potensi lokal.Fisherwoman Participation on Conservation of Coastal Areas in Meureubo Sub District, West Aceh DistrictABSTRACT. This study was aimed at assessments of fisherwoman participation in conservation of coastal areas in Sub District Meureubo, West Aceh, and the factors affecting woman participation in conservation of coastal areas. Data analysis used in this study was by using scores, where score one for low category, two for medium category, and three for high category, while Multiple Linear Regression was used to examine factors that affect level fisherwoman participation in conservation of coastal areas. The results showed that woman participation was categorized a low level by 35%.  Partially, factors affecting woman participation in conservation of coastal areas were knowledge, education, marital status, husband income and incentive. Intervention strategies to increase woman participation in conservation of coastal areas could be done by two ways, namely by taking into account factors that affect participation and carrying out development participatory strategies appropriate to the local potentials. The purpose of this research is to obtain the proper standard of seedling age, number of seeds, and spacing of plantation so as to provide growth and rice yield maximally. This research attempted to modify spacing of plantation and habits of farmer used 21-day-after-seedling and number of seeds as many 5 stems or more per planting hole. The spacing of plantation was tested in 20 cm x 20 cm, 25 cm x 25 cm, and 30 cm x 30 cm, the 8-16-day-seedling seeds of age and number of seeds as many 1, 2, and 3 stems per cluster. The design used in this research is Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 replications. The result of this research shows that the spacing of plantation was 30 cm x 30 cm, 8-day-after-seddling-aged seeds and 1 stem of seeds in one hole per cluster may show good results when compared with other treatments. The 30cm x 30cm spacing treatment can provide the slot 8.12 t , the treatment to 8-day-after-seedling result 8.01 t  of slot. The ideal number of seeds per cluster is one stem per cluster which can provide 8.09 t  of slot.Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan standar yang tepat tentang umur bibit, jumlah bibit dan jarak tanam yang tepat sehingga dapat memberikan hasil padi yang maksimal. Penelitian ini mencoba melakukan modifikasi terhadap jarak tanam dan kebiasaan petani selama ini menggunakan bibit umur 21 hari setelah semai dan jumlah bibit 5 batang per lubang tanam atau lebih. Jarak tanam yang diuji 20 cm x 20 cm, 25 cm x 25 cm dan 30 cm x 30 cm, umur bibit 8 dan 16 hari setelah semai dan jumlah bibit 1, 2 dan 3 batang per rumpun. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial dengan menggunakan 3 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jarak tanam 30 cm x 30 cm, umur bibit 8 hari setelah semai dan jumlah bibit satu batang per rumpun dapat memberikan hasil yang terbaik bila dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya. Perlakuan jarak tanam 30 cm x 30 cm dapat memberikan hasil ubinan 8,12 t ha-1, perlakuan umur bibit 8 HSS dapat hasil ubinan 8,01 t ha-1, demikian juga dengan jumlah bibit per rumpun yang baik adalah satu batang per rumpun dapat memberikan hasil ubinan 8,09 t ha-1. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan penelitian tentang pengaruh limbah kakao basah dan kering serta takarannya terhadap kualitas kompos dengan sistem pembenaman.  Penelitian ini dilaksanakan April sampai Juli 2010, dengan menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Kelompok pola faktorial.  Jenis kulit kakao terdiri atas limbah kulit kakao basah, kering dan campuran basah kering. Takaran limbah kulit kakao terdiri atas 30, 60, dan ton ha-1. Hasil analis ragam menunjukkan bahwa, Kelembaban limbah kulit kakao hanya berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter K2O, sedangkan parameter lainnya tidak berpengaruh nyata. Perlakuan takaran limbah kulit kakao hanya berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap P2O5 dan K2O, sedangkan parameter lain tidak nyata. Cacao waste is organic material capable to provide macro and micro nutrients for crop, besides repairing soil structure causing to tilt.  For the purpose need to be done research about cacao skin measuring influence to quality of compost with masking system. This research executed April until July 201, by using completely randomized block design method with factorial. Cacao skin type is consisted: wet, drought, and mixer wet drought. Cacao skin waste measuring is consisted: 30, 60, and 90 tons ha-1. Result of manner analyst indicates that, treatment of influence cacao skin waste type only be real to K2O, while other parameter doesn't have an effect on reality. Development of cocoa in Pidie District is divided into three clusters, namely Cluster Padang Tiji, Cluster Keumala and Cluster Tangse. This study was aimed at the analysis of land suitability for cocoa in order to understand relationships between characteristics of the land and production and fat content of cocoa and factors that influence it. Method used was a survey method to obtain land characteristics, management and production levels of cocoa. Land Unit Map (LUM) of each cluster was formed by overlapping maps of soil type, slope, and land use. Evaluation of land suitability on each LUM was done by suitability classification method developed by FAO. Relationships between characteristics of land and production and fat levels were analyzed using correlation analysis. Multiple linear analyses were carried out for land characteristics that significantly affect production components and fat content. The results showed that clusters of Keumala and Padang Tiji had actual land suitability classes of marginal suitable (S3), while Tangse had those of adequately suitable (S2) and marginal suitable (S3). Potential land suitability classes of Padang Tiji cluster was S3, while clusters of Keumala and Tangse were S2 and S3. Results of multiple linear regression analyses showed that there was a very close relationship (R2=0.95) between characteristics of land and production, while a close relationship (R2=0.64) between characteristics of the land and fat content. Determinants of production were altitude, slope, sand fraction, clay fraction, pH H2O, pH KCl, organic C, total N, available P, Na, Al saturation, cation exchange capacity, base saturation and salinity, while determinants of fat content were altitude, organic C, total N, available P, Ca, and Mg.Abstrak. Pengembangan kakao di Kabupaten Pidie dibagi dalam tiga klaster yaitu Klaster Padang Tiji, Keumala dan Tangse. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesesuaian lahan tanaman kakao sehingga diketahui hubungan antara karakteristik lahan dengan produksi dan kadar lemak kakao serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survai untuk mendapatkan karakteristik lahan, tingkat pengelolaan dan produksi tanaman kakao. Satuan peta lahan (SPL) masing-masing klaster dibentuk berdasarkan tumpang tindih peta jenis tanah, peta lereng dan peta penggunaan lahan. Evaluasi kesesuaian lahan pada setiap SPL menggunakan metode klasifikasi kesesuaian lahan yang dikembangkan oleh FAO. Untuk mengetahui hubungan antar karakteristik dilakukan analisis korelasi antara karakteristik lahan dengan karakteristik produksi serta kadar lemak. Analisis linier berganda dilakukan pada karakteristik lahan yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap komponen produksi dan kadar lemak. Hasil evaluasi lahan Klaster Padang Tiji dan Keumala memiliki kelas kesesuaian lahan aktual sesuai marginal (S3) sedangkan Tangse cukup sesuai (S2) dan sesuai marginal (S3). Kelas kesesuaian lahan potensial Klaster Padang Tiji S3, sedangkan Klaster Keumala dan Tangse S2 dan S3. Hasil analisis regresi linier berganda antara karakteristik lahan terhadap produksi diperoleh hubungan yang sangat erat (R2) 0,95, sedangkan karakteristik lahan terhadap kadar lemak diperoleh hubungan yang erat (R2) 0,64. The research was conducted in Village Aneuk Glee, Indrapuri Sub District, Aceh Besar District. Analysis of phosphorus uptake of rice plants was performed at Laboratory of Soil Research Institute, Bogor. Experiment was arranged in a split plot design with three replications. Factor of phosphorus fertilizer dosage, consisting of three levels (0 kg/ha, 50 kg/ha and 100 kg/ha) was set as main plot and variety (50 varieties) as subplot. Variables observed were plant height, number of tillers, wet weight biomass, dry weight biomass and fertilizing efficiency. Results showed that phosphorus fertilizer dosage exerted highly significant effects on plant height, number of tillers at 20, 23 and 26 days after transplanting, dry weight biomass, nutrient uptake and fertilizing efficiency and exerted significant effects on number of tillers at 14 days after transplanting and wet weight biomass. Variety exerted highly significant effects on plant height, number of tillers, wet weight biomass and dry weight biomass. There were no significant interactions between phosphorus fertilizer dosage and variety on all the observed variables.Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dosis pupuk fosfat dan varietas terhadap pertumbuhan, serapan hara dan efisiensi pemupukan tanaman padi lokal. Pelaksanaan penelitian lapangan dilakukan di Desa Aneuk Glee Kecamatan Indrapuri Kabupaten Aceh Besar dan analisis serapan fosfor tanaman dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Balai Penelitian Tanah, Bogor. Menggunakan rancangan percobaan petak terpisah (split plot design) dengan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas dosis pemupukan phosfat sebagai petak utama dan varietas (50 varietas) sebagai anak petak. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, serapan hara dan efisiensi pemupukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dosis pupuk fosfat berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada semua umur pengamatan, jumlah anakan umur 20, 23 dan 26 hari setelah tanam (HST), berat berangkasan kering, serapan hara dan efisiensi pemupukan serta berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah anakan umur 14 HST dan berat berangkasan basah. Varietas berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, berat berangkasan basah, dan berat berangkasan kering. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tiga pedon yang dipilih berdasarkan perbedaan vegetasi yang tumbuh di atasnya (bakau, nipah dan semak halophyta). Di lapangan diamati sifat-sifat morfologinya, kemudian diambil bahan tanahnya dari setiap horison dan dianalisis sifat fisika, kimia, dan mineraloginya di laboratorium. Pada semua horison di pedon IR1 bertekstur liat, pada pedon IR2 tekstur di horison Bt lempung liat berpasir, sedangkan pada pedon IR3 horison Bt1 bertekstur lempung. Reaksi tanah (pH) berbanding lurus dengan kejenuhan basa (KB), pada semua horison mempunyai nilai yang tinggi KB dan pH kecuali pada pedon IR1 horison AB. Selain itu mempunyai pH, daya hantar listrik (DHL), nisbah Na terjerap (SAR) yang tinggi yang merupakan penciri daerah salin. Asam-asam dapat ditukar hanya terdapat pada pedon IR1 horison BA yaitu berupa kation hidrogen 1,76 cmol(+) kg-1 dan alumnium 1,44 cmol(+) kg_1, disebabkan horison tersebut pH-nya rendah (5.00) dan mengandung liat masam. Semua pedon mempunyai mineral mudah lapuk yang tinggi (> 10%), Hal ini menunjukkan tanah belum tua dan kesuburannya cukup baik, namun terdapat faktor-faktor penghambat yaitu kejenuhan Na, SAR, dan DHL yang tinggi. Setiap pedon didominasi oleh mineral smektit serta sedikit kaolinit, illit, kuarsa, dan klorit.Characteristics of Krueng Raya Salin soils at Subdistrict Mesjid Raya Aceh BesarAbstract. This research aimed to investigate the characteristics of saline soil in Kemukiman Krueng Raya. This research was conducted in three selected pedon based on difference of vegetation which is growing on it (mangroves, palm and halophyta shrub). Morphology properties observed in the field, then the soil material taken from each horizon and soil physical, chemical, and mineralogy were analyzed in the laboratory. In all IR1 pedon of horizons has clay texture, on IR2 pedon of Bt horizon has sandy clay loam texture, whereas on IR3 pedon of Bt1 horizon has clay texture. Soil reaction (pH) is proportional to the base saturation (BS), in all of horizons have high BS and pH values except on IR1 pedon of AB horizon. Besides, it has high value of pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and the sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), which is the identifier of saline areas. The exchangeable acids only on pedon IR1 of BA horizon that is hydrogen cation 1.76 cmol (+) kg-1 and aluminium 1.44 cmol (+) kg-1, because of the horizon is low of pH (5.00) and contain of acid clay. All of pedon has high easily weathered minerals (> 10%). This is indicate that  the soil has not aged yet and its fertility still quite well, but there are limiting factors that is high of Na saturation, SAR, and DHL. Each pedon dominated by smectite minerals and a little of kaolinite, illite, quartz, and chlorite. It can be used as agricultural areas or settlements; however, by the time it changed functionally. This research was aimed at finding out levels of agricultural land degradation treatment caused by erosion on agricultural land and defining the proper conservation measures for sustainable land utilization, and especially analyzing levels of land degradation caused by erosion in agricultural land on Lembah Seulawah, Aceh Besar District. Land mapping unit was developed based on land utilization map, soil type map, and topography map with scale 1 : 60.000, then overlaid to find out Land Utilization Type (LUT), based on uniformity of land-forming variables. Results showed that there were 4 classifications of erosion hazard levels, i.e. light hazard erosion level (L) found in LUT 5,6,7 and 8, medium hazard erosion level (M) found in LUT 4, heavy hazard erosion level (H) found in LUT 2 and 3, and very heavy hazard erosion level (VH) found in LUT 1. Land use referrals in maintaining preservation actions are by applying vegetative and mechanical methods of conservation. Selection and management of planting pattern, cover crop planting, and uses of plant waste as mulch are recommended on the L and M levels. Development of tree crops (estate and industrial crops) and no agricultural uses are recommended on H and VH levels, respectively.Abstrak: Lahan memiliki potensi besar dalam menunjang aktivitas hidup manusia. Lahan tersebut bisa dijadikan sebagai areal pertanian maupun pemukiman penduduk, sering kali dalam perkembangannya terjadi perubahan fungsi-fungsi lahan dimaksud. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat degradasi lahan akibat erosi pada lahan pertanian dan menentukan arahan korservasi yang tepat sehingga pemanfaatan lahan dapat berkelanjutan di Kecamatan Lembah Seulawah Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Satuan peta lahan ditetapkan berdasarkan peta penggunaan tanah, peta jenis tanah dan peta kelerengan dengan skala 1 : 60.000, kemudian dioverlay untuk mendapatkan peta Tipe Penggunaan Lahan (TPL) yang didasarkan pada keseragaman peubah pembentuk lahan. Hasil penelitian terdapat 4 klasifikasi tingkat bahaya erosi yaitu tingkat bahaya erosi ringan (R) masing-masing terdapat pada TPL 5, 6, 7 dan 8, erosi sedang (S) terdapat pada TPL 4, erosi berat (B) terdapat pada TPL 2 dan 3, sedangkan klasifikasi tingkat bahaya erosi yang sangat berat (SB) terdapat pada TPL 1. Arahan penggunaan lahan yang sesuai dalam menjaga kelestariannya adalah menerapkan tindakan konservasi metode vegetatif dan metode mekanis.
