<text>Abstract. Research on the sponge barnacle of Indonesia is very rare, and this study is aimed to describe the morphological characteristics of sponge barnacles and their specific relationship with their sponge host species. This research was a survey and sponge samples were collected by tearing apart any available sponge found in three sampling locations, typically coral reef areas of Weh Island, Seribu Islands, and Karimunjawa Islands. Sponge barnacles contained in sponge samples were observed using stereo microscope and scanning electron microscope, and species identification was determined based on the morphological description of Darwin (1854), Pilsbry (1916), Martin dan Davis (2001), and Kolbasov (1993). Four species of sponge barnacles were found consisting of Acasta cyathus, Acasta fenestrata, Euacasta dofleini, and Membranobalanus longirostrum. Specific relationships of barnacle and its sponge host were found between Euacasta dofleini and Haliclona sp. and between Membranobalanus longirostrum and Suberites sp. respectively. Keywords : sponge; barnacle; acasta; membranobalanus; biodiversityAbstrak. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the growth pattens and condition factor of the belanak (Mugil cephalus), seriding (Ambassis koopsii) and petek (Leiognathus fasciatus). The sampling was conducted for eight time on July 2011 by using gillnet and castnet. The results showed that the belanak (M. cephalus) and seriding (A. koopsii) have allometric negative growth patten, while the petek (L. fasciatus) has an allometric positive. In addition, the relative weight condition factor's was higher than 100. And the Fulton's condition factor were not different significantly among fishes. Indicating the condition of the Kuala Gigeng is relatively in good condition and support fish growth as well.Keywords. Allometric, Fulton's condition factor, fish relative weight, morphology</text>

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be used to determine the suitable location for these activities. Spatial analysis on every measured parameters were conducted and then its overlay to determine the feasibility of locations. The suitability location was categorized into four levels i.e very suitable, moderately suitable, suitable with conditions, and not suitable. The results showed that there are at least 127,746 ha of areas have potency for mariculture location, of these 122,950 ha (96.25%) are very suitable and suitable, while 4796 ha (3.75%) are moderately suitable for fish farming. However, based on field verification, about 8.627 ha of areas are recommended for fish mariculture developement, this is situated at Pulau Ketawai Island, Pulau Panjang dan Pulau Bujur.Key Words : Geographic Information Systems, overlay, fish, mariculture, and cage</text>

<text>Abstract. Indonesian waters connect the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. These waters are also highly influenced by the monsoonal climate. Current is a very important parameter in the marine environment and affect both directly and indirectly the marine environment. A study has been done in the waters of Spermonde Archipelago in Makassar Strait to develop a model of relationship between tidal current velocities and capture of small pelagic fishes at transition between west and east moonsoonal season. Insitu field data were collected for 3 (three) months, from April to June 2009. Besides that, this study also used a two-year image data (acquired from October 2007 to June 2009). Study sites were deployed in areas of fishing base of small pelagic fishes within the waters of Spermonde Archipelago, Pangkep District, South Sulawesi, particularly in areas where purse seine gears were operated by the fishermen. Distribution of current parameters, depth, wind direction and velocity, and tidal data were depicted horizontally using Surfer v 7.0 software package. Meanwhile, Surface Modelling System v 8.1. (SMS v 8.1) program was used to make prediction of the movement pattern of the surface current. Results of the analysis of current movement patterns when the waters were approaching hightide showed that water mass movement from southern region (Flores Sea) was diverted and passed through the Spermonde Archipelago to the coastline of Pangkep Regency. In contrary, when the waters were approaching ebb tide, the current from the western coast of Pangkep Regency passed the Spermonde Archipelago and diverted to the Flores Sea again. Analysis of current velocity indicated that higher current (> 0.1 m s-1) was found in offshore and tend to decrease below 0.1 m s-1 as the current passing the waters of Spermonde Archipelago. Optimal capture was obtained up to the current velocity of 0.032 m s-1 i.e. 187.9 kg, and tend to decrease with increasing current velocity. At the highest current velocity, that is 0.216 m s-1, the capture was 112 kg.</text>

<text>Abstract. Badung Strait generally have nutrient distribution patterns influenced by Sea-atmosphere interactions. The waters of the Lombok Strait is also branching traversed by Indonesian Throughflow (ARLINDO), which will be followed by Indonesian Throughflow variability of sea surface temperature changes. The distribution of nutrients is closely related to light intensity to produce primary productivity. The purpose of this research was conducted to determine the distribution of nutrient concentration and light intensity and chlorophyll-a in Badung Strait during Southeast Monsoon (June 2014). The variables investigated are the concentration of nitrate, phosphate, ammonia, light intensity and chlorophyll-a. The results showed the average value of the concentration of nitrate, phosphate and ammonia at 0.01106 mg/L, 0.01 mg/L and 0.13475 mg/L. The average value of the light intensity at 272.8775 W/m2 and the average value of chlorophyll-a concentration of 0.40925 mg/L. The visualitation images show that there is homogeneus pattern for the phosphate concertration and konvergen patterns for the other paramaters. It is cause of physical parameters influence when obtain the waters sample. Based on the result, it can be conclude that the waters productivity of Badung Strait, Bali is in good condition. The role of other water quality parameters such as temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen also supports fertility waters. Keywords: nutrients; light intensity; chlorophyll-a; water quality; Badung StraitAbstrak. Kata kunci: nutrient; intensitas cahaya; klorofil-a; kualitas air; Selat Badung</text>

Herbivory reef fish is the most important of fish tropic group in the coral reef ecosystem.Hence, the objective of this study was to provide reliable data and information on herbivory reef fish based on management types in the northern Acehnese reef. Underwater Visual Census Techniques was used to collect the data at 20 sites around Weh Island and Aceh Besar. This study found 32 herbivory reef fishes species from five families in northern Acehnese reef. Densities of herbivory reef fish were varied from 27 to 104 ind./transect,while species numbers were also varied from 6 to 14 species/site. Family Acanthuriidae was the highest in species number, i.e. 19 species. Densities of herbivory reef fish in sites that were protected under the management authority of Sabang Weh Island were not significantly higher compare with sites from open access areas. <text>Abstract. The study on the phytoplankton community in estuary area of Aceh River was done from August to October 2006. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the structure of the phytoplankton community in Aceh River post tsunami. Explorative survey was done at three sampling sites along the river. Sampling sites were determinated based on salinity zoning; >30 ppt, 18-30 ppt and 5-18 ppt. The results show that higher diversity of the phytoplankton was found at sampling site 1, while the lower diversity was recorded at sampling site 3. There were no dominancy of species at all of sampling locatios. Diversity index was ranged between 0.95 to 0.98 and its mean that the diversity is higher at all of stations, while similarity between station 1 and 2 was higher compared to others stations. There was no difference in division composition of phytoplankton post tsunami, however, the total species was increased post tsunami. Keywords: Abundance, diversity index, similarity index, and tsunami</text>
