The research was conducted in a coffee plantation in Kebet Village, Bebesen Sub-District, Central Aceh District. The experiment was carried out from February to March 2011. The method used in this research was a descriptive method, using direct measurements in the field. The samples of coffee plants were 4 years and 15 years old. The results showed that rainfall interception of 4 years-coffee-crop was 56.87% of the total rainfall of 82.50 mm  and  that of 15-year-old coffee plants was 72.12%, of total rainfall of 133.50 mm. The greater the rainfall was, the greater the interception would be, as well as the older age of the coffee plant was, the greater the percentage of interception was recorded. The average proportion of rainfall as the water passes (throughfall) was greater than the proportion of rainfall that becomes stream stems (stemflow), due to high density of leaves covering the stem. Relationship between rainfall and interception on coffee plants was a natural logarithm equation: (1) for 4 years coffee crop,  I = 3.440 ln (Pg) + 0.650 and R2 = 0.56; (2) for 15 years old coffee crop, I = 2.992 ln (Pg) + 2.371 and R2 = 0.69. The study was aimed at determining the phenotypic diversity of several varieties of soybean in North Aceh. The experiment was arranged in a non-factorial randomized complete block design. Varieties consisted of six varieties of soybean, namely Kipas Merah, Gamasugen 1, Muria, Mitani, Rajabasa dan Mutiara 1. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and followed by Least Significant Difference Test. Results showed that variety exerted high significant effect on the characters of a number of branches, number of pods, number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant, weight of 100 grains, and grain weight per plot, but did not significantly affect plant height at 2, 3, 4, 5 week after planting and height at harvest.  The highest heritability values was found at a weight of 100 seeds (0.95) and the lowest at plant height (0.28).  Mutiara 1 can be used as an alternative for farmers besides Kipas Merah, because Mutiara 1 produced a high yield and had the largest seed. The objectives of this research were to isolate rhizobacteria from tomato plant rhizosphere and to characterize effective rhizobacteria isolates to deter growth of Phytopthora capsici colony. The rhizobacteria was isolated from healthy tomato plant rhizosphere, and then antagonism nature to pathogen was evaluated by double culture method. Deterrent ability of the rhizobacteria was measured based on resistance zone formed due to the presence of the biocontrol agents. Among 57 isolates, 18 were potential for further evaluation. Deterrent ability test of the 18 isolates resulted in 3 isolates which were very promising to be developed as biocontrol agents to control seed borne pathogens. This study used a factorial complete ramdomized design with 8 combination of treatments and 4 replications. There were two factors studied, dose and timing of Trichoderma. Four level doses factor were studied, i.e. 75, 150, 225, and 300 g.polybag-1, while timing of application consisted of 2 levels, 7 days before planting and at the planting time. The observed variables were germination rate, incubation period, length of lesion formed on the base of the stem, and dry weight of seeds per plant. Data of variables observed was analized by analysis of variance and followed by least significance different test at level 5%.  The results showed that dose of Trichoderma gave a significant effect on seed germination rate, incubation period, length of lesion and dry weight of seed per plant. Dose of Trichoderma 300 g.polibag-1 was the best and gave  germination rate of seed up to 84,38%, incubation period 8 days, length of lesion 1,35 cm and dry weight of seed 24,13 g. The timing of application gave a significant effect only on dry weight of seed per plant.  The best timing of application was found at 7days before planting and no interaction between doses and time of application of Trichoderma. The research was conducted at Experiment Station of Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam Banda Aceh, from June to October 2010. The experiment used a randomized complete block design (RCBD), 3 x 2 with three replications. Factors studied were types of organic fertilizer, consisting of compost and cow manure and varieties, consisting of TM-999 and local varieties. Variables observed were plant height at ages of 15, 30 and 45 days after planting (DAP), number of productive branches, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, yield per plot and production per ha. Results showed that there was no significant interaction between organic fertilizer types and varieties on all observed variables. Organic fertilizers did not significantly affect plant height at ages of 15, 30 and 45 DAP, productive branches at age of 75 DAP, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, yield per plot, and yield per ha.  Varieties significantly affected plant height at age of 30 DAP, number of fruits per plant, but did not significantly affected plant height at ages 15 and 45 DAP, number of productive branches at age of 75 DAP, fruit weight per plant, yield per plot, and yield per ha.
