<text>The objectives of this research were to find out dosages of biofertilizer and manure which was the most effective to control bean fly (A. phaseoli). This research was carried out at Cot Cut Village, District of Kuta Baro, Aceh Besar, from September to December 2008. This research used a factorial randomized complete block design with two factors: biofertilizer (H) and manure (K).  Dosages of biofertilizer were H1= 2,8 L ha-1, H2= 3,5 L ha-1, H3= 4,2 L ha-1, and H4= 4,9 L ha-1. Dosages of manure fertilizer were K1= 2,8 ton ha-1,  K2= 5,6 ton ha-1 and K3= 8,4 ton ha-1.  The result showed that application of biofertilizer was more effective than that of manure fertilizer to percentage rates of the attacked plant. However, both biofertilizer and mature fertilizer exerted  significant effects to percentage of plant death, plant dwarf, number of larva and pupa, and dry seed weight per plant.  Application of biofertilizer at 4,9 L ha-1 and manure fertilizer at 8,4 ton ha-1 reduced  percentages of  plant death up to 86% and 83%, respectively.</text>

<text>Effectiveness of Neem Extract in Controlling Armyworm (Spodoptera Litura F.) in  Lettuce Alfian Rusdy Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT  Research objectives were to evaluate effectiveness of seed and leaf neem extracts at various concentrations in controlling armyworm in lettuce. Experimental design used was factorial completely randomized design, consisting of eight combinations of treatment with three replications. Factors examined were firstly neem extract of seed and leaf and secondly concentration of the neem extracts, which consists of four levels for each of the 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%.  Variables observed were mortality, percentage of pupa, percentage of imago, and intensity of damaged plants.   Results showed that use of seed and leaf extracts of neem plant can control armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) in lettuce plants. Seed extract was more toxic than leaf extract of neem. The most effective concentration was 20 cc/100 ml solution (20%), followed by 15 cc (15%), 10 cc (10%), and 5 cc (5%).  </text>

<text>The Effect of Organic Fertilizer and Planting Space on the Growth of Aloe Jumini dan Syammiah Program Studi Agronomi Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah ABSTRACT             The objectives of this research were to know the effect of organic fertilizer species and planting space, and interaction between them on the growth of aloe. Research was done from February to May 2006 at experiment station of Agriculture Faculty of Syiah Kuala University. Units of treatments were arranged by factorial randomized complete block design with 3 replications. Data collected were analyzed by analysis of variance and followed with honestly significant different test at the level of 5%. The results showed that cow manure was the best for the growth of aloe compared to compos, and the spacing of 70x70 cm was the best planting space.  However, the interaction between the two factors showed that widening planting space from 60x60 cm to 70x70 cm with cow manure did not give significant effect; while this gave significant positive effect when using compos.  </text>

<text>The aim of this research was to investigate effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and compost on soil chemical properties under soybean.  The research was conducted in Ude Village, Matangkuli Sub-District, Aceh Utara District, from June to November 2013.  The experimental design was a factorial randomized complete block design with three replications. The first factor was Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi doses, consisted of 4 levels: 0, 20, 40, and 60 g Pot-1. The second factor was compost doses, consisted of 4 levels: 0, 75, 150, and 225 g Pot-1. Variables measured were pH value, available P, and organic C soil. The results showed that compost doses gave significantly effect on pH value, available P and C-organic soil.  Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi doses increased the pH value, available P and organic C compared to without the fungi. There was a significant interaction between Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi doses and compost doses on pH value and available P. Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi dose of 60 g pot -1 and compost dose of 150 g pot-1 was able to increase the pH value. However, the best available P was found at Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi dose of 60 g pot-1 and compost dose of 75 g pot-1. </text>

<text>            The purpose of this research was to investigate effects of superparasitism rate on development of Tetrastichus brontispae progeny. In this research, each host (Brontispa longissima pupa) was exposed for different frequencies, i.e., 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 times for female parasitoid.  The result showed that the rate of superparasitism affected the number of progeny emergence, the developmental time of immature progeny, and sex ratio of progeny. The number of progeny emergence was increased as the increase of  superparasitism rate. The number of progeny emergence from single oviposition host was 15, while from host exposed on female parasitoid for 3, 5, 7, and 9 times were 12, 5, 2 and 0, respectively. The developmental time of immature progeny was lengthened as the increase of superparasitism rate. Sex ratio of progeny was biased to female progeny as the increase of rate of superparasitism. The result of this research indicated that superparasitism gave negative effect on development of T. brontispae progeny.</text>

<text>A study was carried out to attempt accelerating growth of teak stump by stem cutting and inoculation of Mycorrhiza. Three months-old-seedlings of teak were cut and inoculated with mychorryza. Results of the study showed that growth of teak stump, including stem height, plant height, stem diameter, numbers of leaves, length of leaves, and fresh weight of the teak plant were significantly affected by cutting stem and inoculation of Mycorrhiza. We found that length of stem, length of plant, stem diameter, numbers of leaves, length of leaves were of significantly-positive responses to stem cutting. Additionally, inoculation of Mycorrhiza also successfully accelerated growth of teak stump, including stem, leaves, and biomass. This study found a non-significant interaction between the cutting stem and inoculation of Mycorrhiza. The present study revealed that the cutting stem 2.5-7.5 could be considered as the optimum treatment to enhance growth of teak stump. Moreover, inoculation of Mycorrhiza with 2.5 g/polybag was the optimum dosage to enhance growth of teak stump. The dosage of Mycorrhiza inoculation did not depend on length of cutting stem.</text>

<text>Evaluation of Resistance to Fusarium at Seedling Stage of  Several Hybrids Gladiolus Bakhtiar, Hajrial Aswidinnoor, dan Toto Sutater ABSTRACTOne of the major problems in flower and corms production of gladiolus is wilt diseases and corm rot caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. gladiolii. Therefore, the development of resistant gladiolus cultivars through breeding programs is highly desired to overcome these diseases. The seedling tests make it possible to obtain new gladiolus cultivars with high levels of fusarium resistance. The objective of this experiment were to develop a seedling test for early selection of Fusarium resistance in gladiolus and to evaluate the levels of fusarium resistance of hybrids produced at seedling stage. Screening for fusarium resistance in seedling populations that using ± 103 propagules per gram of soil could be conducted at 8 weeks after sowing. Queen Occer x 623-1, 646-15 x 623-1 and 623-1 x Queen Occer crosses gave more resistant progeny than the others.  </text>

<text>Response of shoot of cactus  (Mammillaria myriacantha) to various concentrations of NAA and BAP in Vitro Mardhiah Hayati Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT The research was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design 3 x 3 with 5 replicates. Factors evaluated were concentration of NAA (0, 2, 4 mgl-1), and concentration of BAP (0, 3, 6 mgl-1). Variables observed were initiation time, shoot numbers, shoot height, root number at 2 and 4 weeks after culturing (WAC) and life percentage, dead percentage, contamination percentage. The results showed that NAA significantly affected initiation time and shoot numbers at 4 WAC.  The best initiation time was found at concentration of  NAA 4 mgl-1 and the best shoot numbers was found at concentration of NAA 2 dan 4 mgl-1. BAP had significant effect on  shoot number 4 WAC, shoot height 2 WAC, and root numbers at 2 and 4 WAC.  The best shoot numbers and shoot height were found at  BAP 3 mgl-1 but did not significantly differ from BAP 6 mgl-1.  The best root numbers, however, was at no BAP.  There was no significant interaction between both factors. </text>

The result showed that soil textures were varied from very coarse at the area near to the coastline to rather fine at the area far from the coast. The soil structures of topsoil was generally plate and blocky, while that of subsoil was generally massive. The quality of irrigation water in was still suitable for crops, the pH of water was neutral and low in salinity (0,4 mS cm-1). The water quality of wells was high (good) and water quality of drainage and surface water was low (rather bad). Water quality of wells was good enough, indicated by low water salinity (0,26-0,78 mS cm-1) and  low of SAR value. The recommendations for land reclamation were (1) cleaning and repairing of irrigation and drainage channel  (2) leaching of salinity in topsoil from soil profile by flooding method (basin irrigation) or furrow irrigation,  (3) constructing the ditches for cultivation in managing the excess of salinity, (4) establishing ditches for paddy, and (5) removing the sediment above the topsoil.</text>
