<text>A research was conducted at Experimental Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University in February – Mei 2011. The objectives of the research were to determine effect of kind of fertilizer on growth  and yield of  several  sweet corn varieties and also to know interaction between both factors mentioned.  The experiment was performed using a randomized complete block design (RCBD),  3 x 3 with 3 replications. There were two factors studied, namely kinds of fertilizer, consisting of 3 levels: organic fertilizer, NPK and liquid organic fertilizer NASA. The second factor was varieties consisting of 3 levels: Bonanza, Manise, and Jago F1.  The results showed that kinds of fertilizer exerted highly significant effects on diameter of bottom stem at age 45 day after planting (DAP), number of leaves at 45 DAP, leaf length at age 30 and 45 DAP and exerted a significant effect on ear length without cornhusk. The highest growth and yield of sweet corn was found in NPK fertilizer treatment.  Varieties of sweet corn exerted highly significant effects on plant height age 15 DAP, diameter  of bottom stem  at age 30 and 45 DAP, number of leaf at age 15 DAP, leaf width at age 15, 30, and 45 DAP and exerted significant effects on ear length without  cornhusk, ear diameter  without  cornhusk, ear weight per bed with border plant, ear weight per bed without border plant,  ear weight with cornhusk and plant height at age 30 and 40 DAP, diameter of bottom stem at age 15 DAP, number of leaf at age 45 DAP, leaf length at age 15 and 45 DAP. The highest of growth and yield was found at Variety Bonanza.  Additionally, there was no interaction between kinsd of fertilizer and several varieties of sweet corn on growth and yield of all variables observed. </text>

<text>ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate anatomical changes and oligosaccharide content of recalcitrant seed Avicennia marina at various drying rate i.e. fast, medium and slow drying.  Oligosaccharide content was determined, and anatomical embryonic axes was observed at various times during desiccation. The result showed that moisture content of  A. marina seed was 60.75-64.67% at shedding. The highest ratio of (raffinose + stachyose) / sucrose was 0.41, indicating that embryonic axes were more tolerant to desiccation than cotyledon.   Anatomical observation of embryonic axes showed that there was radicle damage due to  medium and slow drying treatment.</text>

In addition, this study was also to determine whether the provision of compost can increase effectiveness of urea fertilizer for seedling growth of betel palm. Results of research showed that compost significantly affected seedling growth of betel palm. The best dosage of compost for the seedling growth was 1.5 kg per seedling. Urea fertilizer also significantly affected seedling growth of betel palm. The best dosage of urea for the seedling growth was 1.5 g per seedling. There were no significant interactions in most variables of seedling growth observed.  </text>

<text>Adaptive Test of Some Soybean Varieties (Glycine Max (L) Merril) At Specific Dry Land Agroecosystem on Planting Season of June in Lampineung Experimental Station, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Burlis Han ABSTRACT A research of the adaptive test of some soybean varieties at specific agroecosystem of specific dry land location has been conducted in Experimental Station of Lampineung Banda Aceh at plant season of 28 June 2004. Production of Soybean on dry land in Province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) is still low and its productivity increase moves tardy. From 1989 - 1994 the soybean production was successively: 1,6 ; 1,18 ; 1,18 ; 1,20 and 1,21 tons/ha. Some constraints often met in dry land soybean cultivation are low and varied land fertility, high weed population, low seed quality and unestimated rainfall pattern. Especially for seed, constraint faced by farmer in production center area is unavailability of superior seed. This research was aimed to get superior varieties of Soybean which is adaptive in specific location. This research started from June to September 2004. This research used Non Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design, followed by Duncant Multiple Rank Test. Treatment factors were five varieties of Soybean, consisting of Kaba, Merbabu, Mahameru, Sinabung and Pangrango. Observation of adaptability was based on variablity of growth and production component. Results of research showed that average production which can be reached  were Kaba 1.202,5 kgs/ha, Mahameru 652,5 kgs/ha, Merbabu 1.787,5 kgs/ha, Pangrango 1.219 kgs/ha and Sinabung 1.660,6 kgs/ha. The most adaptive variety are Merbabu and Sinabung.  </text>

<text>An effort to anticipate a food crisis is to increase food production by planting upland rice in dry lands. In addition, provision of appropriate fertilizer has great potential for strengthening food self-sufficiency and for future agricultural development. The study was aimed at determining growth and yield of three varieties of upland rice under a compound fertilizer. The experiment was arranged in split plot design, consisting of three upland rice varieties and three levels of compound fertilizer. The main plot was upland rice varieties, i.e. Inpago 4, Inpago 5, and Inpago 8, while the subplot was compound fertilizer, i.e. a dose of 0 kg/ha, 150 kg/ha, and 250 kg/ha. Results showed that varieties significantly affected plant height, panicle numbers, and panicle length, but did not significant affect weight of 1000 grains and dried grain. Inpago 4 was the best variety. The best of NPK fertilizer was found at dose of 250 kg/ha.</text>

<text>This study was aimed at determining peanut varieties that are tolerant to drought stress and assessing the effectiveness of the use of PEG 4000 as a media simulation to drought stress.  Experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial 4 x 4, repeated three times. First factor was variety, consisted of four levels, namely Tuban, Bima, Bison and Local Aceh. Second factor was PEG concentration, consisted of 4 levels, namely control, 3.5%, 11.6%, and 18.1%. Variables measured were maximum growth potential, germination rate, relative growth rate, vigor index, germination value, root length, hypocotyl length, and seedling dry weight.  The results showed that varieties exerted significant effects on maximum growth potential, germination rate, relative growth rate, root length, and hypocotyl length. PEG concentration exerted significant effects on maximum growth potential, germination rate, growth velocity, relative vigor index, germination value, root length, hypocotyl length, and seedling dry weight. There were interactions between varieties and PEG concentration on relative growth rate, root length, and hypocotyl length of groundnut seeds. Local variety of Aceh was recommended as a tolerant variety to drought stress.  Bison was not tolerant to drought stress. Bima was recommended as a moderate tolerant variety to drought, while Tuban was a tolerant variety to drought.</text>

The purpose of this experiment was to study effects of dosage and frequency of casting to control fusarium wilt on tomato plants. The experiment applied a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with five replications. The factors studied were dosage and frequency of kascing. The dosage consisted of 100 and 200 g/plant, whereas the frequency of kascing consisted of one and two times of application. The results showed that dosage of 200 g/plant with two times of kascing application can control disease fusarium wilt on tomato plant.</text>

<text>Confirmation of Sampling Technique for Selection of Rate and Filling Periode Duration in Corn Teuku Mahmud      Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT Kernels of the original (C0) plus fifth cycle (C5) of a maize (Zea mays L.) synthetic, divergently selected for long and short effective filling period (EFP) or high and low dry matter accumulation rate (DMAR), were evaluated by two different sampling procedures. The objectives were to evaluate single plant vs. multiple plant measurement procedure for EFP and DMAR, plus changes the selection traits, physiological and morphological characteristics, and plant yield. The two sampling techniques and all data analysis procedures resulted in a similar ranks of kernel size, DMAR, and EFP. The best estimate of maximum kernel size was at black layer maturity. The nonlinear procedure estimated EFP better than did other procedures. Compared to C0, DMAR was increased 31.5% and reduced 36% for the C5 high and low DMAR subpopulations, respectively. The kernel size of high and low DMAR in C5 differed by 105.4%. Long EFP selections tended to decreased DMAR. Compared to C0, EFP was increased 11.3% and reduced 8.8% for the C5 long and short EFP subpopulations, respectively. The EFP differences between long and short EFP selections was 22.1%. Duration differences occured almost exclusively in the late lag phase. Yield of the long EFP and high DMAR selections were equal to C0 but significantly greatert than short EFP and low DMAR selections. Yield was positively correlated with kernel size, DMAR, and EFP. Kernel size was correlated with DMAR and yield. From this experiment one might infer that selection for long EFP and high DMAR should increase  yield.  </text>

<text>Optimization of Three Sata Formulation on Indonesian, Malayan, and Chinese through Sensory Evaluation Rita Hayati Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam  ABSTRACT Result of the study showed that optimum region for sata production using boiled tuna fish, katsoubushi and surimi were 36-40%, 39-85% and 0-12%, respectively.  Three formulations were selected for validation study.  Two formulation were from acceptance region (F1=0.37 of boiled fish, 0.46 katsoubushi, 0.17 surimi, F2 =0.37 of boiled fish, 0.40 katsoubushi, 0.22 surimi), and one formulation from rejection region (F3 =12.5 of boiled fish, 75 katsoubushi, and 12.5 surimi). The validation of the three optimum points using sensory evaluation showed that formulation F1 was most acceptable followed by F2 and F3. There was significant difference (P≤0.05) between F1 and F2 when compared to F3, thus model equation was able to predict the optimum points.  </text>

<text>The research was aimed at determining a critical period of soybean in competition with weeds. The experiment was conducted in Seunebok Baro Village, Sub-District Cot Girek, District Aceh Utara, from January to May 2013. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design.  Factor evaluated was a period weed competition with 14 levels and three replications.  Variables observed were growth plant component, yield component, and weed compositions.   The results showed that period weed competition affected growth plant component and yield component.   Critical period of soybean variety Kipas Merah in competition with weeds occurred at 2 - 6 weeks after planting.  Dominant weed species were Dichrocephala integrifolia, Mimosa pudica, Ipomoea triloba, Ageratum conyzoides, Cleome rutidosperma, and Axsonopus compressus.  Minimum scale of weed control for soybean variety Kipas Merah can be carried out from 2 until 6 weeks after planting for preventing yield loss.</text>
