Recently there is no such effective methode for controlling the disease. The use of fungicide to control the disease can make new races of the fungal pathogen is very virulent.  The use of biocontrol agent such as Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis is alternative methode to control fusarium wilt.  The aim of this experiment was to find out the most effective antagonist bacterial to control fusarium wilt on banana.  The study was carried out in Mycology Laboratory of IPB and green house and Phytopathology Laboratory of Balitbio, Bogor from January to October 2001.  Six treatments in this experiment were arranged in randomized complete design with 3 replications.  The result showed that Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis were reducing Panama disease fusarium wilt on banana. Both antagonistic bacterials were effective to control fusarium wilt.  </text>

<text>This study was aimed at determining type of organic material suitable for the growth and yield of two varieties of tomatoes and the interaction between the two factors. This experiment was conducted at the experimental field of the Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design, 4 x 2 with three replications. There were two factors investigated: organic material consisting 4 levels (control, manure, compost peat, and compost), varieties consisting two levels (Permata and Lentana F1). Variables observed were height and stem diameter, fruit weight per plant, number of fruits per plant, number of bunches per plant, number of fruits per bunch, average weight per fruit and yield potential. The results showed that the type of organic material highly significantly affected plant height and stem diameter at the ages of 30 and 45 days after planting, fruit weight per plant, number of fruits per plant, and significantly affected plant height at the age of 15 HST but did not significantly affect the number of bunches per plant, number of fruits per bunch, average weight per fruit and yield potential. Growth and yield were better at manure compared to compost, peat compost, and control. Varieties significantly affected stem diameter at the age of 15, 30 and 45 days after planting, fruit weight per plant, number of fruits per plant, number of bunches per plant, number of fruits per bunch, average weight per fruit and potential results. Growth and yield were better found in varieties Permata. There were significant interactions between types of organic materials and varieties in all observed variables on growth and yield of tomato.</text>

<text>ABSTRACT A research on behavior of pest S. litura on two varieties of soybean has been done in Blang Manyak Village, Sawang Sub district, North Aceh District from January–May 2013. The research was arranged in a field experiment with two treatments of soybean varieties, that is Kipas Merah and Anjasmoro.  Each treatment was repeated 20 times to obtain 40 units of the experiment. Variables measured included damage intensity of S. litura, trichome density of leaves, yield components, and resistance evaluation. The relationships between yield components and damage intensity of S. litura were analyzed with regression and correlation. The results showed that damage intensity of S. litura on Kipas Merah was lower than that on Anjasmoro. Loss of soybean yield components on both varieties was influenced by the damage intensity of S. litura. There was a negative correlation between damage intensity of S. litura and soybean yield components on both varieties.  Kipas Merah was moderately resistant and Anjasmoro was susceptible against S. litura.  Resistance differences of both varieties were influenced by trichomes density of the leaves. </text>

Experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) 2x5 with 3 replications in the laboratory and a split plot design with 3 replications in the field. The factors examined were soybean varieties and oxygen. The varieties were consisted of Pandermau S-37, Local of Bireuen, Wilis, Orba, local of Tasikmalaya. The oxygen was consisted of 2 levels, i.e. oxygen stress and normal oxygen. Variables observed in the laboratory were seedling growth rate and dry weight of normal seedling, while in the field were soybean growth rate and dry weight of plant.  Results showed that growth of the five varieties on the field of oxygen stress can be simulated through examination in laboratory. Of the two variables observed, seedling growth rate was more sensitive for the purpose. On the other hand, dry weight of seedling was less precise for simulating that condition. </text>

In addition, this study was also aimed to examine interactions between the hexagonal plant spacing and the varieties on growth and yield of rice plants.  The experiment applied a split plot design with four replications. Factors studied were (1) variety, placed as a main plot and (2) hexagonal plant spacing, placed as subplot. The results showed that effect of plant spacing on productive tiller number varied, depending on variety. In Pandan Wangi and Ciherang varieties, productive tiller numbers did not differ between plant spacing of 21 cm from a spacing of 25 cm. In contrast, in line Cot Irie, productive tiller of 25 cm plant spacing outnumbered that of plant spacing of 21 cm. Effect of plant spacing on panicle length was consistent on all varieties tested. Rice panicle length did not differ between plant spacing of 21 cm and 25 cm. Effect of plant spacing on potential yield per hectare was also consistent across all varieties tested. Plant spacing of 21 cm provided a potential yield per ha which was not significantly different from plant spacing of 25 cm. Line Cot Irie provided panicle length better than varieties Pandan Wangi and Ciherang. Line Cot Irie also provided the highest yield potential per hectare, while panicle length and potential yield per ha of Ciherang were not significantly different from Pandan Wangi.</text>

<text>Soybean is an important food for national food security. Many soybean varieties have been released by the government, but only few were adopted by farmers. The purpose of this study was to identify superior soybean varieties that are adaptive in Aceh Besar, Aceh Province. The experiment was conducted in Village Limpok, Aceh Besar during dry season in 2013 and arranged in a randomized block design with 3 replications. The result showed that variety Kaba and Detam had very good vegetative growth performance. The fastest flowering varieties were Detam and Burangrang, while variety Gema, Tanggamus, and Orba were the slowest flowering. Variety Kaba and Orba had the highest productive node, while the least was Grobogan. Variety Kaba, Kipas Merah Bireuen, and Orba had the most productive branches, while local variety Bener Meriah and Grobogan had the least productive branches. Grobogan had the greatest seed size, followed by Burangrang and Anjasmoro. Kipas Merah Bireuen and Sinabung had the highest seed weight per plant but having the smallest seeds. Sinabung was the most adaptive in Aceh Besar.</text>

This research was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design with thirteen treatments and two replicates.  Provision of some amelioran exerted significant effects on numbers of root nodules, degree of mycorrhiza infection, and plant height of 5 week after planting (WAP). The best amelioran was calcify dolomite on which had positive responses to the increase of numbers of root nodules, degree of mycorrhiza infection, and plant height of 5 WAP. The second best was combination of Bradyrhizobium +Mos+ peat soil isolate mycorrhiza, which significantly increased numbers of root nodules, degree of mycorrhiza infection, and plant height of 5 WAP. The poor and the poorest ameliorants were sea mud+calcify dolomite and sea mud without dolomite, respectively, which caused reduction of numbers of root nodules, degree of mycorrhiza infection, and plant height of 5 WAP.</text>

<text>Analysis of Water Balance for Determine Growing Periods Potency of  Food Crops in Banten Province Taufan Hidayat, Yonny Koesmaryono, Aris Pramudia ABSTRACTGrowing periods can be determined using water balance analysis to decrease harvest risk in certain area. Generally, there are two types of land use for crop i.e. irrigated land and non-irrigated land. The experiment objectives was to determine growing periods of food crop inBantenProvince. Modified method of Thornthwaite and Mather of bookkeeping system of water balance was used based on decades data. Water balance analysis of irrigated land showed that  the area of Serang District had growing periods potencially of 140-170 days with growing periods starting from Dec2 till Jan1, but needed water supply from irrigation as amount 8.5-22.5 mm to grow rice twice a year or planted with other food crops after rice if no irrigation. Meanwhile, Tangerang District (Pakuhaji) and Pandeglang District (Pagelaran) had potency of 182-193 days of growing periods with starting on Sep3 at Pakuhaji and on Dec3 at Pagelaran. In these area rice could be planted twice a year without irrigation. Futher for non-irrigation land with monthly high rainfall, the result showed that the area had potency of growing periods of 182 days through the year. Planting dates might be started from October 1 until December 1, with sequence of rice-rice or rice-rice-other food crops.  </text>

The validation of the three optimum points using sensory evaluation showed that formulation F1 was most acceptable followed by F2 and F3. There was significant difference (P≤0.05) between F1 and F2 when compared to F3, thus model equation was able to predict the optimum points. </text>

<text>The objectives of the study was to obtain an effective concentration of B. bassiana to control pests of N. Viridula.  Experiment was performed at Laboratory of Pest, Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University Darussalam, Banda Aceh. The experiment used a  faktorial completely randomized design (CRD).  Factors evaluated were (1) concentration of B. bassiana consisting of three levels: 2 gL-1 distilled water, 4 gL-1 distilled water, and 6 gL-1 distilled water, and (2) stadia of N. viridula consisting of 2 levels: third instar nymphs and imago. Variable observed were incubation period, mortality of N. viridula, time of death, and percentage of feeding inhibition. The results showed that concentration of B. bassiana and stadia of N. viridula had no effect on incubation period of fungus B. bassiana. Concentration of B. bassiana affected mortality and time of death of nymph and imago N. viridula. Concentration of fungus B. bassiana affected percentage of feeding inhibition. In general, fungus B. bassiana had a high potential on controlling insect N. viridula. </text>
