<text>The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pathology Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University from February to June 2013. The purpose of study was to evaluate the survival of T. harzianum and T. virens after cohabiting with soil borne pathogenic fungi (Fusarium sp, Rhigidoporus sp, and Sclerotium sp) as well as the type of interaction. Trichoderma fungi and fungal pathogens were grown on PDA in vitro, and then observed their growth after being reisolated on 3 different growth zones. The results showed that T. harzianum and T. virens  growing with Fusarium sp were capable to grow over the space. It was evident from the results of reinoculation on a petridish B (border zone) and C (zone Trichoderma) colonies, that T. harzianum and T. virens regrew, while the pathogens were not able to regrow. When cohabiting with Sclerotium sp and Rhigidoporus sp, antagonistic fungus regrew after reisolation but pathogens also grew on Petridis B (border zone). It indicates that on the contact area (petri dish B), Sclerotium sp and Rhigidoporus sp conduct defense over the competition. Regrowth of fungal pathogens on contact area (border) indicates that the fungus has a high level of competition. Antagonist agents such as T. virens and T. harzianum were able to survive and regrow after cohabiting with fungal pathogens and showed type A interaction (against Fusarium sp), while cohabiting with Sclerotium sp and Rhigidoporus sp showed the type B interaction.</text>

<text>The study was aimed at determining appropriate varieties and growing media on growth and yield of red peppers as well as interactions between the two factors mentioned. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) 3 x 3 with three replications. Factors studied were red pepper varieties (TM 999, ST 168 and local), and growing media (soil + sand, soil + manure, and soil + husk) with a ratio of 2:1. The results showed that varieties exerted highly significant effects on plant height at 15 days after transplanting (DAT) and fruit weight per plant at first harvest 90 DAT and a significant effect on number of fruits per plant at first harvest 90 DAT. Varieties of TM 999 and ST 168 were better than that of local. Growing media also exerted highly significant effects on plant height at 45 DAT, number of productive branches, number of fruits per plant at first harvest (90 DAT) and fruit weight per plant at first harvest (90 DAT), and significant effects on plant height at 15 and 30 DAT, number of fruits per plant at second harvest (93 DAT), and weight of fruit per plant at third harvest (96 DAT). The best growing medium was soil + sand. There was no significant interaction between varieties and growing media on growth and yield of red chili.</text>

To obtain high price of the yield, usually farmers grow this crop at out of season, i.e. wet season. Wet season, however,  has more limiting factors to increase the yield, such as water logging. The aim of this study was to understand the resistance of plant to water logging. Seedlings at 21 days of age were planted in plastic container. The result indicated that full water logging and half water logging inhibited vegetative growth of chilly. However, the seedlings were survive until 3 week of logging. Full water logging caused horizontal growth of roots. Full water logging also caused increase of chlorophyl b, antocianin, and carotenoid, but decrease of chlorophyl a.  </text>

<text>The research was aimed at finding out the relationship between potassium dosages on peats soil, yield, seedvigor, and viability of peanut. The experiment was arranged ina completely randomized design (CRD), factorial 5 x 4 with 3 replications. Potassium application was consisted of 5 levels: 0 kg ha-1, 25 kg ha-1, 50 kg ha-1,  75 kg ha-1, and 100 kg ha-1. Variety was consisted of  4 levels :  Naga Umbang, Jerapah, Gajah  and  Bison. Variables observed were yield, seed vigor, and seed viability. Results showed that potassium did not exert significant effects on all variables observed, except  on seed vigor and viability.  Varieties significantly affected yield, where Bison provided the best dried pod weight and Jerapah gave the best seed vigor and viability. No significant interaction existed between varieties and dosage of K fertilizer on the peanut yield, seed vigor, and seed viability.                                                                                                                      </text>

<text>Research on antifeedant activity of n-hexane leaf extract Lantana camara and its active fractions were evaluated for their insecticidal activity against Plutella xylostella larvae. The method included extraction, fractionation, and examination antifeedant leaf extract L. camara and fractions active against P. xylostella larvae.  Extract application was conducted using a residue feeding method. Fractionation of active compounds from extract n-hexane was conducted by liquid vacuum chromatography, using phase silent silicate gel GF254 and phase mobility n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol (elusion gradient), which produce fractions A, B, C, D, and E.  Extract leaf L. camara and fractions possessed antifeedant activity against P. xylostella larvae. Extract leaf L. camara at concentration of 1% caused larva antifeedant activity up to 78.47%.  Fraction E caused a higher larva antifeedant activity (85,52%) than extract and other fractions did.</text>

<text>           The objective of this research was to study content of heavy metal  (Pb) in soil and lettuce tissue caused by organic and inorganic fertilizers application. This research applied a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replicates. The first factor was organic fertilizer, consisting of 4 levels and the second factor was inorganic fertilizers, consisting of 2 levels. Variables observed were fresh weight, and content of heavy metal in soil and tissue. Results showed that application of organic and inorganic fertilizers could reduce level of lead Pb) in soil and plant tissue. The highest Pb concentration was in the treatment without organic fertilizer and the lowest Pb concentration was in the organic fertilizer of 45 tons per ha, which was not significantly different from the organic fertilizer of 30 tons per ha. The highest plant fresh weight was obtained in dosage of organic fertilizer 15 tons/ha in the second planting. The best combination for plant fresh weight was an organic fertilizer of 15 tons/ha and an inorganic fertilizer of 1000 kg/ha. </text>

<text>Effect of Water Stress at Two Types of Soil on Growth and Yield of Soybean  (Glycine max (L.) MERRIL) Nurhayati Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT  This study was aimed at determining effect of water stress maintained at 100, 80, 60, and 40% of field capacity in ordo Entisol and Ultisol on growth and yield of soybean. Experimental design used was a completely randomized design, 4 x 2 with three replicates. Results showed that water stress significantly affected all components of growth and yield of soybean, as well as amount of cumulative water need of soybean at plant ages of 8 - 95 days. Soil type also significantly affected all components of growth and yield of soybean, as well as amount of cumulative water need of soybean, except root length.  The best growth and yield of soybean was found at ordo Entisol. There was a highly significant interaction of all components of soybean growths and yields, except plant height at the age of 15 and 30 days after planting.  Soybean was still capable of producing high yield at the range of water stress 60% - 80% of field capacity in ordo Entisol, whereas in ordo Ultisol at the same circumstance, the soybean was not capable of maintaining the yield. </text>
