<text>Relationship Between Two Sortation Method with Peanut Seed (Arachis hypogaea L.)  Viability and Vigor and Its Application for Salinity Resistance Approximation Sabaruddin Zakaria dan Cut Meutia Fitriani ABSTRACT The research has been made to explain the relationship between two-sortation methods with peanut seed (Arachis hypogaea, L.) viability and vigor and its application for salinity resistance appraisal. Completely Randomized Design with Factorial type 3 x 3 and 3 repetitions was used to analyze the effect of sortation method. The parameters used in this research were seed growth potential, germination ability, growth velocity and T50. The second research for salinity resistance was using Completely Randomized Design with Factorial type 2x4 and 3 repetitions. The parameters used in this research were seed vigor, growth velocity and T50. The research results showed that sortation method did not have significant difference on the peanut seed viability. Seed sortation by using 1.5 % NaCl solution could be used as one alternative for sortation of peanut seed. However, the sortation by using 3.0 % NaCl solution caused negative effect on the viability and vigor of peanut seed. Salinity factors gave high significant difference on the viability of seed. The highest seed viability was found without NaCl treatment (control). Relationship between salinity and seed viability was linear negative, meanings that higher salinity cause lower seed viability.   </text>

The result showed that picloram was able to produce somatic embryos of staminode of various explants. Callus growth began to appear after two weeks on staminode, and then were subcultured into the same medium to produce secondary somatic embryos. </text>

Research has been done for three months from April to July 2005. Completely Randomized Design with 6 treatments and 4 replications was applied. The treatments were Knudson C medium added with: 15% of coconut liquid endosperm, 7.5% of banana juice, 0.2% of yeast extract, 15% of potato juice, 5% of aloe juice, and 5% of tomato juice. The results showed that 5% of tomato juice was the fastest for shoot forming and 5% of aloe juice was the best medium supplement for the colour of protocorm like bodies.  </text>

<text>Effects of fertilization on growth of several varieties of upland rice have been studied.  The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design, 3 x 4 factorial design with three replications. Factors studied were fertilization i.e. 100% compost, 100% inorganic fertilizers, and mixture of 50% organic and inorganic fertilizers. Upland rice varieties consisted of Cirata, Limboto, Situ Bagendit, and Situ Patenggang. Results showed that mixture of 50% organic and inorganic was the best on plant height at  ages of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 week after planting (WAP) and tiller numbers per hill. Meanwhile, 100% organic fertilizer was the best for flowering and harvesting ages. The best variety for plant height was Cirata and Situ Patenggang, while for tiller numbers was Situ Bagendit. There were interactions between fertilization and variety on plant height and tiller numbers.  The best combination for plant height was Situ Patenggang and mixture of 50% organic and inorganic, while for tiller numbers was Situ Bagendit and mixture of 50% organic and inorganic.</text>

<text>            The objectives of this research were to study effects of cutting internode numbers and urea dosages, and interaction between them on pogostemon bud cutting growth. This research was done at Kajhu Village, Baitussalam Sub District, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province, from February 15th to April 15th 2011. Experiment was arranged according to Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design 3 x 3, with 3 replicates. Each of replications was consisted of 3 plants, resulting 81 experimental units. The first factor was cutting internode numbers, consisted of 3 levels, i.e. 2, 3 and 4 internodes. The second factor was urea dosage, also consisted of 3 levels, i.e. 1, 2 and 3 g urea/cutting. All cuttings were planted in polybags; one cutting per polybag, filled with 5 kg of soil, with one internode was inserted into the soil. The result showed that there were highly significant interactions between cutting internode numbers and urea dosages on pogostemon cutting leaves and bud numbers at 60 days after planting, which means that cuttings with different internode numbers responded differently to urea dosage increases. The best one was cutting with 4 internode numbers and the best urea dosage was 2 g/cutting.  The best combination was cutting with 2 internodes and 2 g urea/cutting. </text>

<text>            The objective of the research was to find out a suitable bulb slicing and kind of organic fertilizer for a maximum growth and yield of onion.  This research applied a randomized complete block design (RCBD), 3 by 3 with 3 replications. Factors observed were bulb slicing and kinds of organic fertilizer.  Bulb slicing consisted of no cut, cut of one-third, and cut of one-fourth of onion bulbs.  Organic fertilizer consisted of compost, manure of cow and manure of chicken. Variables observed were plant height, a number of onion tillers per bunch, a number of onion bulbs per bunch, wet and dry weight of bulbs per bunch.  Result showed that bulb slicing significantly affected a number of onion tillers per bunch at 30 day after planting (DAP), 45 DAP, and a number of onion bulbs per bunch. However, bulb slicing did not significantly affect plant height at 15 DAP and dry weight of bulb per bunch.  The best growth and yield was found at cut of one-fourth of the bulb. Organic fertilizer showed a significant effect on a number of bulbs per bunch but did not exert a significant effect on other variables. More bulbs per bunch were achieved at compost. There was no significant interaction between bulb slicing and organic fertilizer type on growth and yield of onion.</text>

<text>The purpose of this study was to obtain an effective concentration of the extract of sweet flag rhizome in controlling S. litura. This research was conducted at Laboratory of Plant Pests and Diseases, Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non-factorial, with six levels of extract concentrations, that is 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12%, and 15%. Each treatment was repeated four times. The variables measured were mortality of larvae, percentage of formed pupae, percentage of emerging imago, and life length of imago. The results showed that application of the sweet flag rhizome extract affected mortality of larvae, formed pupae, emerging imago, and life length of imago S. litura. Use of sweet flag rhizome extract with a concentration of 3% was effective in controlling S. litura. Application of sweet flag rhizome extract with a concentration of 3% resulted in larval mortality up to 57.50%, formation of pupa only 20%, emerging imago 5%, and average life length of imago S. litura 1.25 days.</text>
