The objective of this research was to compare the quality of milk taken from dairy cows fed by corn husks, grass and mix of corn husks and grass with standard of milk quality according Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI 01-3141-1998) at Kebon Pedes dairy farm Bogor, and to examine the content of pesticide residue in milk. This research was conducted from July until September 2008. Nine sample of milk, with three sample from dairy farm that use corn husks as roughages, three sample from dairy farm that use grass and three other from dairy farm that use mix of corn husks and grass were used in this research. Density of milk, solid non fat content, milk protein content, milk fat content, and dry matters content in milk were observed as research variable. Descriptive statistical analysis was used in this research. The results showed that chemical quality of milk from dairy cows fed by corn husks, grass and mix of corn husks and grass still met with the quality of milk according to Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI 01-3141-1998). Konsentrasi pupuk bayfolan terbaik dijumpai pada 1 dan  2 cc L-1 air. Ada interaksi yang nyata antara varietas dan konsentrasi pupuk bayfolan terhadap tinggi tanaman pada 90 MST, dan interaksi terbaik dijumpai pada varietas TM-999 yang diberikan konsentrasi pupuk bayfolan sebanyak 1-2 cc L-1 air. The Effects of Varieties dan Bayfolan Fertilizer Concentration on Growth and Yield of Chili (Capsicum annum L.)ABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of chili variety and the concentration of Bayfolan fertilizer on the growth and yield of chili and the interaction between these factors. The research was conducted using a randomized block design with 2 factors of chili varieties and 4 factors of fertilizer which 3 replications. Factors studied are chili variety (TM-999 and Cemeti) and the concentrations of Bayfolan fertilizer (control, 1, 2, and 3 cc L-1 water). Observed variable was the plant height at 30, 60 and 90 days after planting (DAP), the number of branches at 60 and 90 DAP, the number of fruits per plant, the fruit weight per plant and weight of 100 fruit. The result showed the best growth and yield was found on chili varieties TM-999. The best concentration of Bayfolan fertilizer was found at 1 and 2 cc L-1 water. There is a significant interaction between varieties and the concentration of Bayfolan fertilizer on the plant height at 90 DAP, the best interaction was found between chili varieties TM-999 and Bayfolan fertilizer at concentration 1-2 cc L-1 water. This study is the third step from a series of studies aim to develop method to detect the present and quantity of herbicides in soil and water through a simple, easy, cheap, but accurate bioassay technique. Bioassay is a method which measure response of living organism to determine the presence or quantity of substances in a sample on medium, such as soil, water, and other materials. In this study, bioassay developed in the earlier studies was used to detect movement of ametryne and diuron herbicides in soil. Study was carried out using soil column method. Treatment were arranged factorially in a completely randomized block design with 3 replicates. Two ultisol soil types: Podsolik Merah Kuning (PMK) and Latosol cokelat (LC), and 2 preemergence herbicides: ametryne and diuron were tested. To calculate the amoung of herbicide using bioassay, each standard curve for ametryne and diuron (relationship between the growth of indicator plant as a respon of the amount of herbicide) were developed. Using these standard curves, the amount of ametryne and diuron was calculated based on the growth rate of indicator plant. Result showed that bioassay method can be utilized to detect herbicide movement in soil. The amount and the rate of herbicides movement was determined by soil and herbicide types. In PMK, ametryne was detect at the all soil dept from 1 through 4 week after application (WAA), however at 8 WAA this herbicides was only detected in 20-40 cm soil depth in limited amount, while at 12 WAA there was no ametryne detected in all soil depth. In LC, ametryne was also detected at all soil depth 1 day after application (DAA) through 1 WAA, while at 2 through 4 WAA ametryne was detected at 0-30 cm soil depth. At 8 and 12 WAA there was no more ametryn detected in all soil depth. The movement of diuron herbicide was more restricted compared to ametryn, both in PMK or LC. In PMK, from DAA 1 through 4 WAA diuron was only detected at 0-20 cm soil depth. At 8 WAA this herbicide was found at 10-20 cm soil depth, while at 12 WAA there was no diuron detected in all soil depth. In LC, most of diuron applied was still present in the upper soil colom (0-10 cm), while at 10-20 cm soil depth this herbicide was present in the limited amount 1 DAA through 1 WAA, diuron was detected only at 0-10 cm soil depth, meanwhile from 4 through 12 WAA there was no diuron detected at all soil depth. Peubah yang diamati adalah: tinggi tanaman kedelai  umur 15, 30 dan 45 HST, jumlah polong per tanaman, jumlah polong bernas per tanaman, dan berat biji per tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa varietas berpengaruh terhadap tinggi tanaman umur 15 dan 30 HST. Tanaman kedelai lebih tinggi diperoleh pada varietas Grobogan dan Anjasmoro. Jarak tanam hanya berpengaruh nyata pada tinggi tanaman  umur 45 HST, tanaman tertinggi diperoleh pada penggunaan jarak tanam 20 cm x30 cm. Terdapat interaksi yang nyata antara varietas dan jarak tanam terhadap jumlah polong per tanaman, jumlah polong bernas per tanaman dan berat biji per tanaman.  Hasil terbaik diperoleh pada varietas Anjasmoro dengan jarak tanam 40 cm x 40 cm.The Effect of Some Varieties and Spacing on Growth of Soybean (Glycine Max (L.) Merrill)ABSTRACT.  The aims of this study were to determine the effect of varieties and spacing and its interaction on growth and yield of soybeans. Randomized Completely Block Design  (RCBD)  3x3 factorial with three replications was applied. Factors studied were varieties: Anjosmoro, Grobogan, and Kipas Merah, and spacing factor of 20 cm x 30 cm, 20 cm x 40 cm, and 40 cm x 40 cm. Variables observed were soybean plant height age of 15, 30 and 45 DAP, the number of pods per plant, number of pods per plant and weight seeds per plant. The results showed varieties effected plant height on 15 and 30 DAP significantly, which higher than Grobogan and Anjosmoro. Meanwhile spacing simply effect plant height on 45 DAP significantly. The highest plant found on 20 cm x 20 cm spacing. There were interaction significantly between varieties and spacing on the number of pods per plant and weight dry seed per plant. Study of coinoculation between rhizobium and solubilizing phosphate bacteria was done in greenhouse. The aim of the study to find their effect to seedling growth of sengon in Ultisol and Inceptisol. The result showed that co-inoculation between rhizobium and phosphate solubilizing bacteria could enhance seedling growth of sengon in Ultisol and Inceptisol. As compared between co-inoculation and inoculation with rhizobium or phosphate solubilizing alone, showed that the similar result in Ultisol. While Inceptisol, inoculation with Rhizobium and phosphate solubilizing bacteria better than co-inoculation. The research was aimed to find out the effect of various types of bokasi and dosages on the change of macro nutrient (N, P and K) on saline soil and the growth of maize. The research method was a randomized complete block design factorial, consist of two factors. First factor was types of bokasi made from some organic matters decomposited using EM4 I,e. paddy hay, sawdust, and gamal. Second factor wa dosage I.e. 10 ton ha-1, 15 ton ha-1 and 20 ton ha-1. The experiment had three replications so that there were 27 experiment units. Observed variables were chemical soil properties (pH H2O, N total, P available, and K exchangeable at 60 days after incubation), plant growth (plant height at 30 and 60 days after planting, dry weight on top of plant and dry weight on the root at 60 days after planting. The result showed that application of various types of bokasi and dosage gave significant effect on al variable observed. Bokasi from gamal gave the biggest changes of all of observed variable, followed bay paddy hay and sawdust. The higher the bokasi dosage were given, the bigger the changes were occurred on all of observed variable. There were no significant interactions between bokasi types and dosage. Vierh.ABSTRACT. Avicennia marina seed has been classified a highly recalcitrant that need the right handling for maintaining seed viability. The objective og this study was to investigate physiological, biochemical, anatomical changes at various drying rate, fast, medium and slow drying. Seed moisture content, germination percentage, speed of germination, index of vigor, time to reach 50% germination, electrolyte leachates, oligosaccharide content were determined, and anatomical of embryonic axes was observed at various times durng desiccation. The result of the experiment show that the moisture content of A. marina seed was 60.75-64.67% at shedding. Time to reach the lowest moisture content (32-33%) at fast, medium and slow drying were 6, 10 and 14 days, respectively. First and final count in germination test were 13 and 22 days. The experiment was carried out to study the influence of various kinds of herbicide at different dosages and times on soybean seed quality in rainy season. The experimental was conducted at PT Syngenta, Cikampek, West Java. This experimental was arranged in the split-split plot based of randomized block design with 2 replications. The main plot was the time application consists of: R6, R7, and R8 phase. The sub-plot was the application doses of the herbicide that consists of: no herbicide, lower dosage, medium dosage, and higher dose. The response observed covers the seed’s water content at harvesting, seed’s viability, seed’s vigor, the percentage of winkle seed, the weight of 100 seeds and the yield per plot. The result shows that the application of paraquat at lower dose and at R7 nd R8 phase yielding the highest quality compared to any other treatment. The objective of this study is to know the accuracy of the bioassay technique developed to detect ametryn and diuron herbicides in soil and water. Ametryn and diuron are two of several premergence herbicides currently used extensively in Indonesia expecially in plantations crops. The extensive used of the herbicides raised concern about their residue in soil and water and its negative effects. This study is a second step of three steps of experiments aimed to develop a method to detect the amount of herbicides in soil and water using a simple, easy, and economical using bioassay technique. In the previous first step, indicators plant and standard curves for ametryn and diuron were already determined. The objective of this study is to know the accuracy of the bioassay technique to detect ametryn and diuron herbicides in soil and water. Test curve were developed to evaluate accuracy between the amount of herbicide applied compared with the amount calculate of bioassay methods. Test curve is a linier correlation between amount of herbicide applied and the amount detected by bioassay method, stated as Y = a + bX, Y is the amount calculate by bioassay and X is the amount applied. If the amount calculate by bioassay is the same as the amount applied, the test cuve become Y = X, so a must be equal to 0 and b equal to 1 (a=0 and b=1), which means the bioassay method is accurate. Result showed that bioassay could be used to detect ametryn accurately in soil using caisim as indicator-plant, by measuring its shoot length or shoot dry weight. However, this indicator plant could not detect ametryn in water accurately. Bioassay could also be used to detect diuuron accurately both in soil and in water using cucumber as indicator-plant, by measuring its shoot or root length, as well as shoot or root dry weight.
