An experiment to estimate correlation and path analysis of leaf characters to yield of four micro environments (without organic fertilizer and three rate of organic fertilizer) was conducted at Arjasari Experiment Station, Agriculture Faculty, Padjajaran University from January 2003 to August 2003, in 26 soybean genotypes and Wilis at four levels of organic swallow guano fertilizer. The level of organic fertilizer were: without swallow guano, 225, 450, and 675 kg ha-1 swallow guano. Each environment was arranged in completely randomized block design, replicated two times, check genotype (wilis) was planted between six genotypes for each replication. Result of this experiment showed that: leaf number did not have any correlation wit net assimilation rate (NAR). Leaf angle (LA), stomatal length (SL) and stomata frequency (SF) had a negatively correlation with NAR, whereas DTDW and chlorophyll (Chl) were positively correlated to NAR: NAR, seed fiiling period (SFP) and dry matter accumulation rate (DMAR) were positively correlated to yield, and high path coefficient was found either between DTDW and NAR, or between SFP and yield. Agronomic inputs would be more optimal if the plants have optimum vigor. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of water on medium condition of seedlings and planting depth on seed viability and vigor of seedling of cacao. The result showed that the germination medium water conditions have no significant on all variables observed. While the depth of planting the seed in cultivation media has a very significant effect on potential germination, seedling vigor and dry weight, but no significant effect on height and weight of epicotyls weight wet. The best variables values found in the seeds are planted as deep as 4 cm from the surface of growing media. Besides seed viability and vigor of seedling planted at a depth indicated that different is not severely affected by the condition of water at planting media. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa varietas tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah anakan produktif, tetapi berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap panjang malai dan hasil per ha. Galur Cot Irie memberikan panjang malai dan hasil per ha yang lebih baik dibanding varietas Ciherang dan Pandan Wangi, sementara Varietas Ciherang memberikan panjang malai dan hasil per ha yang tidak berbeda nyata dengan Varietas Pandan Wangi. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa jarak tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah anakan produktif, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang malai dan hasil per ha. Jarak tanam berbasis 25 cm secara signifikan memberikan jumlah anakan produktif lebih banyak dibanding jarak tanam berbasis 21 cm. Tidak ada interaksi antara varietas dan jarak tanam terhadap jumlah anakan, panjang malai, dan hasil per ha. Investigating Plant Spacing of Legowo System on Growth and Yield of Several Rice Varieties in SRI MethodABSTRACT. The objectives of this study were to examine plant spacing of legowo system on growth and yield of several varieties of rice and interaction between plant spacing and varieties on growth and yield of rice. This study used a split plot design with four replicates. Factors studied were (1) varieties, consisting of three levels, namely, Pandan Wangi, Ciherang, and Cot Irie and (2) plant spacing, consisting of two levels, namely 21 cm x 10.5 cm x 42 cm and 25 cm x 12.5 cm x 50 cm. Results showed that varieties did not significantly affect number of productive tillers, but significantly affected length of panicle and yield per ha. Cot Irie Line provided greater panicle and yield per hectare than Ciherang and Pandan Wangi Varieties, while Ciherang did not provide significantly different panicle and yield per hectare, compared to Pandan Wangi. Result also showed that plant spacing significantly affected number of productive tillers, but did not significantly affect length of panicle and yield per ha. Plant spacing on basis of 25 cm significantly provided more number of productive tillers than that of 21 cm. There were no significant interaction between varieties and plant spacing on number of tillers, length of panicle, and yield per ha. Penelitian teknologi alat dan mesin pasca panen telah dilaksanakan untuk menentukan kinerja alat pemipil dan pengering jagung yang akan meningkatkan pendapatan petani. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sejak April – Mei 2006 di Desa Tajau Pecah dan Bumi Asih, Kecamatan Batu Ampar, Kabupaten Tanah Laut Kalimantan Selatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keragaman teknis alat pemipil corn-seller cukup baik dilihat dari hasil pengukuran yang diperoleh yakni kadar air biji <22%, biji utuh 93,45%, butir pecah 5,5% dan kotoran 4,5%. Hasil pengukuran kadar air pada 8 bed dryer antara 14.32 – 16.32% dengan kondisi biji baik tertinggi 88,56% dan terendah 80,05%. Penggunaan alat pemipil corn-seller pada tingkat jasa pemipil (upah) Rp. 35/kg didapat dengan biaya pokok alat Rp. 17,38/kg, sedangkan upah pengeringan (bed dryer) adalah Rp. 120/kg, biaya pokok alat yang diperoleh sebesar Rp. 114,15/kg. Titik impas untuk corn-seller 276 ton/tahun dan bed dryer 215,94 ton/tahun, net present value (NPV) corn-seller sebesar Rp. 8.617.843,00. Berdasarkan analisis financial, biaya pokok dan NPV, corn-seller lebih layak dan menguntungkan sedangkan bed dryer belum layak dilihat dari B/C ration 0,95.Technology of Post Harvest Machinery as Supported Component of Maize Farming on Upland in South KalimantanABSTRACT. The machinery post harvest technology research was to examine the performance of corn sheller and bed dryer and those product quality to increase farmer income. The research was conducted in April till May 2006 at Tajau Pecah and Bumi Asih villages, Batu Ampar District, Tanah Laut regency, South Kalimantan. The result showed that at both of villages, farmer carried out their harvesting with : picked up (removed peel)-carried away-sheller-sold (dry weight). This activity had high percentage than if sold in fresh. Maize grain with <22% of water content, produce intact grain 93.45%, broken grain 5.55% and impurity as 4.5%. Measuring of water content as 14.32-16.34% on eight bed dryer indicated good grain condition as 88.56% for the highest and 80.05% for the lowest. The cost of utilizing corn-sheller at sheller leasing was Rp. 35/kg with prime cost as Rp. 114.15/kg. The break even point of corn sheller and bed dryer were 276 t/ha and 215.94 t/ha. The net present value (NPV) of corn sheller was Rp. 8,617,843. According of financial analysis, prime cost and NPV of corn sheller was more feasible and profitable than bed dryer (with B/C ratio 0.95). The purpose of this study is the first year that has acquired a source of inoculum levels are high pathogenicity, obtained an effective inoculation method, a positive correlation between the level of resistance in the field and laboratory. The results showed that the origin of the inoculum pathogenicity test results obtained from symptomatic fruit in the field, almost entirely showed a high degree of pathogenicity. Effective method of artificial inoculation is to hurt and stuck both in leaf and pod. Image classification method used critically effects the classified image produced as well as its accuracy. One of the recently introduced classification methods is Object-Oriented Classification (OOC). The fundamental difference between this method and that of Maximum Likelihood Classification (MLC) lies on the basic unit of image analytical prosses, i.e., image object or segment, and not on a single pixed. The new classification method uses a segmentation procedure with a hierarchical approach which allows an addition of an object  characteristic to other information related  to the classified object, such as from, texture, and context. This object or segment is formed because the smallest region has a larger area than the image pixel. In this study, MLC and OOC classification methods were compered using Landsat ETM+ image for Gayo Lues District of Aceh. The objective of this study was to map out land cover/ landuse classes of the research area and compare the result and its accuracy using the MLC and OOC classification methods. Result  of the study showed that a higher, more detailed, hierarchical land cover/ landuse class with a higher accuracy was obtained using OOC classification method which corresponds better to the contextual condition in the field compared to that of the pixel- based classification method. Crocidolomia pavonana F. is an important pest on mustards. Damage caused by this pest could be 100 percent if not controlled. Objective of the research was to find an effective concentration of garlic extract to control C. pavonana F. The research was the conducted at Experimental Farm of Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam Banda Aceh. Treatments were arranged by Completely Randomized Block Design (CRD) non factorial with 7 level concentrations based on LC50 of 20.69 ml L-1 or 20.69 percent. The concentrations of treatment were 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 ml L-1 of water. The treatment was replication four times. The result showed that the garlic extracts were effective to control C. pavonana. A research about study of indigenous knowledge of euphorbiaceae as medicinal plant by Acehness people was done on June until October 2007. The research was carried on 9 district of Banda Aceh city which aimed to get the knowledge from acehness people about medicinal effect of euphorbiaceae plant such as: Euphorbia pulcherrima, Euphorbia hirta, Phyllanthus urinaria, Ricinus communis, Aleurites molucccana, Manihot esculenta, Jatrophe curcas, Codiaeum variegatum, dan Hevea brasilensis. The method used was PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) which purposive sampling for respondences: keuchik, tuha peut, dan tabib on every villages. The parameters of this research was: the kinds of disease, organ of plant used, mixing way of medicine, and how to use. The result showed that from 455 respondents, all of them, have the indigenous knowledge about Jatropha curcas as medicinal plant. Contrary of Euphorbia pulcherrima, Manihot esculenta, Codiaeum variegatum, and Hevea brasilensis are unknown as medicinal plant. Phyllanthus urinaria is the most species used, because can heal 10 disease. Efektivitas herbisida dalam mengendalikan gulma sangat ditentukan oleh faktor jenis dan dosis herbisida.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan jenis dan dosis yang tepat untuk mengendalikan gulma pada tanaman kedelai kultivar argomulyo. Jenis herbisida yang digunakan adalah: clomazone dan pendimethalin, sedangkan dosis yang digunakan adalah: 0; 0,75; 1.50; dan 2,25 kg b.a.ha-1. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok bifaktorial.  Peubah yang diamati adalah: persentase pengendalian gulma, persentase penutupan gulma, dan jenis gulma. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosis herbisida sebanyak 2,25 kg b.a.ha-1 dapat meningkatkan persentase pengendalian gulma Cleome rutidospermae dan Ipomoea triloba serta menurunkan persentase penutupan gulma. Herbisida pendimethalin dapat meningkatkan persentase pengendalian gulma Cleome rutidospermae.The Application of Herbicide Clomazone and Pendimethalin on Argomulyo Cultivar of Soybean: I. Weed CharacteristicABSTRACT. The effectiveness of herbicide to control weeds is determined by type and dosage of herbicide.  This research aimed was to study the accurate type and dosage of herbicide to control weeds on soybean of argomulyo cultivar. Herbicide type and dosage tested were clomazone and pendimethalin, and 0; 0.75; 1.50; and 2.25 kg a.e.ha-1 respectively. To understand the effect of both factors on the effectiveness of herbicide, Randomized Completely Block Design was employed.  The variables observed were weed control percentage, weed coverage percentage, and weed species. The result showed that application 2.25 kg a.e.ha-1 of herbicide increase the percentage of weed control on Cleome rutidospermae and Ipomoea triloba but decreases weed coverage percentage. Meanwhile pendimethalin herbicide simply raises the control percentage of Cleome rutidospermae.
