The terrace development for soil and water conservation often experience the failure such as landslide, like some agriculture farm in Sub-District Banjarwangi, regency of Garut. Considering this problem, it is required to conduct research and analysis on slope stability, especially for the slope with bench terrace. Slope stability is determined by the slope morphology, soil physically and mechanical properties. This research aims to determined the slope stability at a farmland made by terrace, and expected to give recommendation for planning water and soil conservation to avoid landslide. This research was to conducted in field, laboratory and with computer simulation. The triaxial test of soil taken I Mulyajaya village, Sub-District of Banjarwangi shows that at the mean density of 1.44 t m-3, the average effective cohesion is 0.15 kgf cm-2 and the average internal friction angel is 20.30 for natural condition. Actual terrace at the landslide location is initially stable (Fs = 1.22) and become unstable (Fs = 0.31) as the soil is nearly saturated with increase of soil water table due to rain. Simulation using the slope design software which is being developed can ease the prediction of soil stability in order to help land utilization planning for soil and water conservation. Tomato plants are herbaceous annual plant, having hermaphrodite  flowers and are suitable to be planted in a cold area. Wilt disease is one of the important disease of tomato plants which is caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici (fol). This disease can cause a great loss to the tomato producing in many regions in the world 20%-30%. A study has been conducted the resistance of several varieties of tomato plants against Fusarium wilt disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici. The tomato varieties observed were Local Aceh, Jelita, Permata, Sakata and Lentana. The results showed that Local Aceh variety and Jelita variety were highly  resistant to Fusarium wilt disease. The other 3 varieties showed a lower level of resistance to the wilt disease compared to those of Local Aceh and Lentana variety. This research objective was to determine the dosage of vermicompost that could suppres the disease intensity on tobacco (N. tabaccum). The experiment was carried out in the green house of the Department of Plant amd Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, Padjajaran University from July to August 2005. The experiment was arranged in the randomized completely block design using six treatment and four replications. The treatments were the mixture of seedling media and vermicompost at 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3, seedling media with propineb 70%, mixture of soil and bamboo leaf charcoal without vermicompost, and soil layered by bamboo leaf charcoal without vermicompost as control. The result showed that vermicompost mixed into tobacco seedling media could suppres the disease intensity. The dosage of the vermicompost at the ratio of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 suppressed 80,00%; 90,00%, and 92,50% of damping off disease intensity on tobacco respectively. With Used in Tsunami SoilABSTRACT. Remediation of former tsunamis can be made with organic and inorganic fertilizer. Efforts to improve tsunami land using organic ingredients, to create a land that is good for plant growth is by maintaining a balanced plant nutrient availability. This can be done by the way of inorganic fertilizer. Most needed nutrients plants in large numbers and balanced is the elements nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) how far the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth of lettuce and elemental content of NPK in soil and plant remains problems that need to be tested. The experimental design used in this research is completely randomized design (CRD) 4 x 2 factorial with three replications. There were two factors studied, namely manure doses (K) and NPK fertilizer doses Pearl (M). Increased plant growth and nutrient content of lettuce N, P, and K in soil and plants due to organic and inorganic fertilizer application is highly dependent on the those administered. Fertilizer combinations that produce the best growth of lettuce plant was obtained in combination with organic fertilizer 30 ton ha-1 with the addition of inorganic NPK fertilizer 1000 kg ha-1, particularly in the first planting, and has decreased in the second planting. Residues of organic and inorganic fertilizer application also affected growth and nutrient uptake, but the effect is lower than the effect at the beginning of giving fertilizer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan juga bahwa varietas sangat mempengaruhi jumlah anakan varietas padi lokal Aceh. Varietas Pandrah, Asi Puteh, Sigudang, Bo Santeut, Pade Mirah, Pade P66,  Sanbei, Aweuh, Acong, Bo 100, Salah Mayang Ru, dan Sipirok merupakan varietas-varietas yang memiliki jumlah anakan yang tinggi. Sedangkan tanaman yang paling cepat berbunga terdapat pada varietas Pade P66, Sigudang, dan Pade Das. Sementara varietas yang paling lama mengeluarkan bunga terdapat pada varietas Rangkop Mirah. Varietas berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap hasil tanaman per pot. Perbedaan varietas menghasilkan berat gabah per pot yang sangat bervariasi. Hasil tanaman per pot terberat dijumpai pada varietas Pade Manggeng, Aweuh, Sigupai, Bo Santeut, Sikuneng, dan Pade Mas. Respon pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman padi varietas lokal Aceh lebih baik dibandingkan padi varietas Nasional apabila dibudidayakan dengan sistem padi aerob.The Response of Local Acehnese Germplasm of Rice to Growth and Production in Aerobic ConditionABSTRACT. The purpose of this research is to study responds of 30 variety of Acehnese local rice to aerobic cultivation method with intermitten approach during vegetative phase of rice plant. Morpho-agronomic characters were observed to evaluate the responds of the varieties. Results of study showed that variety was significantly affected plant height, and indicated wide variation among varieties for the plant height. Pade Pangku, Sikuneng, Rom Mokot, Sepuluo, Pade Mas, and Sigupai were the varieties that have taller plant height than others. The factor of variety also significantly affected number of tillers. Variety of Pandrah, Asi Puteh, Sigudang, Bo Santeut, Pade Mirah, Pade P66,  Sanbei, Aweuh, Acong, Bo 100, Salah Mayang Ru, and Sipirok were the varieties that have bigger number of tillers. Some varieties, PadeP66, Sigudang, and Pade Das produced flower earlier than others. Rangkop Mirah variety was the longest time to initiate it flower. We also found that variety significantly affected yield of rice per pot. Pade Manggeng, Aweuh, Sigupai, Bo Santeut, Sikuneng, and Pade Mas were the varieties that have higher yield of rice per pot compared than others. When the varieties cultivated in aerobic condition, the responds of Acehnese local variety was better than national superior variety. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial 3 x 3 dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor yang diteliti yaitu jarak tanam (20 cm x 60 cm, 30 cm x 60 cm dan 40 cm x 60 cm) dan jumlah benih per lubang  (1, 2,dan 3 benih per lubang). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jarak tanam berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap berat buah per tanaman, serta berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang buah.  Buah per tanaman terberat dan terpanjang diperoleh pada jarak tanam 40 cm x 60 cm. Jumlah benih per lubang berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap diameter buah dan berat buah per tanaman, serta berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang batang utama umur 15 HST dan jumlah buah per tanaman. Diameter buah terbesar dan buah per tanaman terberat dijumpai pada penggunaan 1 benih per lubang,  sedangkan   jumlah buah per tanaman terbanyak diperoleh pada penggunaan 3 benih per lubang. Terdapat interaksi yang tidak nyata antara jarak tanam dan jumlah benih per lubang terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil mentimun. Plant Growth and Yield of Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) in Response to Different Spacing and Seed Numbers per HoleABSTRACT. The study was aimed at determining the right spacing and seed numbers per hole on growth and yield of cucumber plants and investigating interactions between the two factors. The study was conducted at the Experiment Station of Agriculture Faculty of Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh from October to December 2009. Experiment was arranged in a factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) 3 x 3 with three replications. Factors studied were plant spacing (20 cm x 60 cm, 30 cm x60 cm, and 40 cm x 60 cm) and seed numbers per hole (1, 2, and 3 seeds per hole). Results showed that plant spacing exerted a highly significant effect on fruit weight per plant and a significant effect on fruit length. The best fruit weight and length were obtained at a spacing of  40 cm x 60 cm. Seed numbers exerted highly significant effects on fruit diameter and fruit weight per plant and significant effects on main stem length at age 15 days after planting and fruit numbers per plant. The best fruit diameter and fruit weight per plant were found at 1 seed  per hole, while the best fruit numbers per plant was obtained at 3 seeds per hole. Increasing level of shade 25% to 75% increased seedling growth of teak. Furthermore, seedling of teak that treated mycorrzal inoculants dosage at 100 g per seedling was more significantly affected of seedling growth than 5 g per seedling. Jambi soybean is one the soybean production centers of tidal swamp areas. This trial was aimed at evaluating of several soybean promising lines and selecting the most adaptable to tidal swamp growing areas in Jambi Province. There were 12 promising lines and 4 control varieties tested were G100H/SHR-60-38, SHR60/G100H-70, SHR60/G100H-75, G100H/TGM-D-1-3,G100H/TGM-D-1-16, MYP/G100H-D-2, and MYP/G100H-D-6. The control varieties were Wilis, Kaba, Anjasmoro, and Tanggamus. The trial was located at farmer’s field at Desa Bandar Jaya, Kecamatan Rantau Rasau, Tanjung Jabung Timur District, Jambi Province frol April to September 2008. The crop was grown at standard cultural practices for soybean with planting distance 40 by 15 cm and two seed per hole. Variables collect were germination rate, days to flower, plant height, days to maturity, number of productive branches, percentage of fertile seeds, one hundred seed weight, yield, pest, and disease infection. Result showed that all of tested lines and varieties had fairly good adaptation at tidal swamp growing areas. There were two lines which gave yield above 2 t/ha, namely G100H/SHR-60-38 (2.10 ton ha-1) and G100H/SHR60-34 (2.04 ton ha-1). Yield of these line is comparable to yield of control variety Tanggamus (2.07 ton ha-1). The two lines have better agronomic traits of compared to Tanggamus, namely bigger seeds and mature earlier. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan pengaruh naungan dan varietas terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman stroberi pada dataran rendah serta interaksi kedua faktor tersebut.  Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terpisah pola RAK. Faktor naungan sebagai petak utama terdiri dari:  tidak ternaungi (100% cahaya), 1 lapisan naungan  (70% cahaya) dan dua lapisan naungan (40% cahaya) dan varietas stroberi sebagai anak petak terdiri dari: Michiko, Earlibrite dan Tristar. Peubah yang diamati adalah:  pertambahan tinggi tanaman dan pertambahan daun, number of flowers, jumlah buah, bobot buah, dan diameter buah per tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan dan hasil terbaik tanaman stroberi apabila tidak dinaungi, sedangkan untuk varietas terbaik dijumpai pada Michiko. Ada interaksi yang nyata antara naungan dan varietas terhadap jumlah daun pada 75 HST dan tinggi tanaman pada 15 HST. Varietas Earlibrite yang tidak dinaungi atau dinaungi dua lapis, dapat meningkatkan jumlah daun pada 75 HST. Varietas Michiko yang tidak dinaungi dapat meningkatkan tinggi tanaman.The Effects of Shading and Varieties on Growth and Yield of Strawberry (Fragaria Sp.) in LowlandABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of shading and varieties on growth and yield of strawberry plants in the lowlands and the interaction between these factors. The research was conducted using a Split Plot Design. Factors studied are shading as the main plots consisting of no-shading (100% sunlight), one layer of shading (70% sunlight) and two layers of shading (40% sunlight) and strawberry varieties as subplot consisting of Michiko, Earlibrite and Tristar. Observed variable is the increase in the number of plant height and leaf, number of flowers, number of fruits, fruit weight and diameter of fruit per plant. The results showed the best growth and yield of strawberry plants tend to be found on treatment no-shading. The best varieties tend to be found in varieties Michiko. There is a significant interaction between shading and varieties in the number of leaf age 75 HST and in plant height age 15 HST. The best interaction of the number of leaf in the age of 75 HST was Earlibrite varieties with the no-shading and two layers of shading, as well as to varieties Michiko and Tristar with one layer shading. In plant height age of 15 HST, the best combination of interactions found in varieties Michiko with no-shading.
