One of the limiting factors to develop chilly in Indonesian is antracnose disease. This fungi attacked either young or mature of pod chilly. It was caused by Gloeosporium piperatum. This study were carried out in green house, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera. The objective of this research is to find the resistant varieties to antracnose disease and high yield performance. This study arranged in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 replications, respectively. The result showed that varieties King, TM-999, Kingehili, and Taro were more resistant to antracnose disease. While, Northredstar expressed slightly resistant, Taro, Northrestar, King, Kingehili dan TM-999, produced the highest, while Laris produced the lowest yield.</text>

The objective of this research were to study the effect on nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) fertilization on pH, content of soil P and dry weight of sunflowers (Heliantus annuus L.) on Ultisols and Inceptisols. The design of experiment used was a randomized completely block design arranged in factorial pattern with two factors. The first factor was N fertilizer (without N and 100 kg ha-1 N) and the second factor was P fertilizer (without P, 50, 100, and 150 kg ha-1 P). The result showed that the application P fertilizer several dosage was increasing soil pH, total soil P, and dry weight of sunflowers on Inceptisols and Ultisols. Available P was more strongly influenced by soil of order (Inceptisols was better than Ultisols) due to application of P fertilizer several dosage on 100 kg ha-1 N.</text>

<text>Growth and Yield of Two Varieties Kale in Poured Media by Lagoon Liquid Waste PT Pertamina UP VI BalonganABSTRACT. Farmers around of  PT Pertamina UP VI Balongan in part cultivated kale because it easily cultivated and short harvest age, however they faces difficulty to find irrigation water in dry season. Therefore it is needed to conduct a research for studying whether liquid waste in the lagoon can be used for plant cultivation. The research was conducted from February 2007 until July 2007 in plastic house in area of PT Pertamina UP VI Balongan on altitude 3 metres above sea level. Experiment design used was Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD). Experimented factors were two varieties kale: Amanda, Bangkok LP 1 and eight kinds of media: rice field poured by lagoon liquid waste 9, rice field poured by lagoon liquid waste 18, sediment poured by irrigation water, sediment poured by lagoon liquid waste 1, sediment poured by lagoon liquid waste 9, and sediment poured by lagoon liquid waste 18. There were 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications. Observed variable comprised of plant height, total of leaves, total of branches, leaves wide, longest root length, stem fresh weight, root fresh weight, plant fresh weight, stem dry weight, root dry weight, and plant dry weight. This research showed that poured media by liquid waste in lagoon do not decrease growth and yield of kale, except in longest root length. Variety of Bangkok LP 1 have longest root length of 33.48 cm while variety of Amanda of 30.55 cm. </text>

<text>Test of Iodine Formula Fertilizers to Plant Yield and Iodine Content of Crops in Goiter Endemic AreaABSTRACT. The research aims to get iodized fertilizer formula which is capable to improve iodine rate in crop that lasted from May to September 2007. The field experiment was conducted in Baturiti, Tabanan Regency. The formula tested of iodized fertilizer represents field experiment using one factor simple randomized completely block design (RCBD) by using 15 fertilizer formulas combination treatment. Iodized fertilizer formulas of which main material is KI as source of iodine was combined with fertilizer of Urea, ZA, and phonska as source of nitrogen. Each formula was added which organic fertilizer, such as Kascing, Compost, cow manure, and chicken manure. Fertilizer doses used as a treatment was 10 kg I, 138 kg N, 60 kg P, 60 kg K, and 5 ton organic fertilizer ha-1. Generally, iodized fertilizer formulas that was used as a treatment could improve iodine content in crops. There were no significant influence among the iodized fertilizer formulas to crop iodine content and plant yield, except it was compared to crops iodine content and yield which was without treatment (control). The iodine content in crop increased to 500-700% with iodized fertilizer formulas. After being given fertilizer dose treatment 10 kg I, 138 kg N, 60 kg P, 60 kg K, and 50 ton organic fertilizer ha-1, iodine content of each crop are as follows mustard greens 514.57-539.36 μg kg-1, cabbage 527.19-545.10 μg kg-1, cassava leaf 445.40-458.34 μg kg-1, and corn grain 220.53-223.18 μg kg-1, respectively.</text>

<text>ABSTRAK. The Composition of Media Growing and Concentration of Organic Fertilizer Super Bionik on Anthurium (Anthurium polwmanii L.).ABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of growing media composition and concentration of organic fertilizers superbionic on the growth of anthurium plants and the interactions between these factors. The research used Randomized Block Design 3x3 with 3 replications. Factor under study is a comparison planting medium composition by volume (1:1) consisting of three standards are: roasted rice husks fuel + fern, roasted rice husk + sawdust and fern + sawdust. Fertilizer concentration factor consists of 3 level of control, 2 and 4 ml L-1 water. Factors evaluated were leaf blade, leaf length, leaf width at each 30, 60, and 90 days after planting (DAT), and fresh weight per plant at 90 DAT. The results showed the best growth of anthurium plant found in the composition of the media treatment of fern + sawdust. Best anthurium plant growth found in the treatment of organic fertilizer superbionic in concentration 2 ml L-1. There is a significant interaction between planting medium composition and concentration of organic fertilizer super bionic at variable plant leaves of anthurium  at 60 and 90 DAT. Best anthurium plant growth found in the combination of planting medium roated rice husk + sawdust on the concentration of organic fertilizer super bionic 2 ml L-1 of water.</text>

<text>Effect of Growing Media and Sprinkling Frequency on Growth and Yield of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in Verticulture SystemAbstract. This study aims to determine the influence of growing media and watering frequency on growth and yield of lettuce using verticulture system and the interaction between the two factors. The design used was randomized block design (RBD) with factorial pattern. 4x3 and 3 replications, so there were 36 experimental units. There are two factors studied, namely factor planting medium (M) consist of four level, and watering frequency factor (P) consisting of three levels. The result showed that the effect of growing media and watering frequency on lettuce plant significantly to the growth and yield of lettuce plant, including plant height, length, width, and number of strands of lettuce of the age of 10, 20, 30 days after planting (DAP) and wet weight age 30 DAP. The best planting medium found in the soil planting medium. While the best watering frequency found 1 day 2 times. There was no significant interaction between the growing media and watering frequency on all growth variables and lettuce plants were observed.</text>

The research about the influence of NAA, 2-4-D and lightness on callus development of nilam’s leaf (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) Tissue culture had been done in cell and Molecular Biology Laboratory, Science Faculty of Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh since April to October 2006. This research using factorial experimental design with three factor (kind of auxin, auxin concentration and lightness). The result showed that kinds of auxin had not had any significant influence to callus development, but lightness and auxin concentration influence the callus development. Darkness treatment and the rise of auxin concentration increased to callus development.</text>

<text>Response of Soybean Cultivars Kipas Putih and Wilis to Soil Moistureon Growth and YieldABSTRACT. The research has been made to explain relationship between soil moisture and the growth and yield of soya bean variety Willis and Kipas Putih. Block randomized design with factor type 2x4 and three repetition has use to analize the effect of soil moisture on those variety. The parameter use in this research were hight of the plan, plan growing rate, number of pod, length of the root, drying biomassa, and dry seed per plan. The research result showed that variety have very significant difference on high of plan 45 days after planting and dry biomassa per plan , have significant difference on growing rate after 45 after planting, number of pod, and has unsignificant difference on high of the plan 14 and 28 after planting, growing rate 28 and 56 days after planting, number of pods, length of the root, and dry seed per plan. Variety willis gives better grow and yield than Kipas Putih. Soil moisture has very significant differency on high of the plan 14 and 28 after planting and growing rate 28,45,56 after planting, number of regume per plan, number of filling pods per plan, length of the root, and weight of dry seed per plan. Field capacity level of soil moisture gives growth and yield better than others. Relationship between variety and soil moisture is very significant on hight of the plan 45 days after planting, growth and yield the best showed by variety Willis and field capacity level of soil moisture.</text>
