<text>(Characteristics and quality of king grass silages treated with various sources and level of carbohydrate fermentable)ABSTRACT . An experiment was carried out from April 1st up to August 18 th 2013. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of source and level fermentable carbohydrate as an additive on the characteristic of ensilage and the contents of crude protein and crude fibre of king grass silage. The methods of this study was experimental, by using Completely Randomized Design. There were 9 treatments, each of which consisted of three replications. The treatments were : A = 1 % of mollases; B = 2 % of mollases; C = 3 % mollases; D = 5 % of rice bran E = 10 % of rice bran; F = 15 % of rice bran; G = 5 % of of cassava cake; H = 10 % of of cassava cake; I = 15 % of cassava cake. Note: all percentages were on the basis of king grass fresh weight. The observed variable were physical characteristics (color, aroma, texture, fungi), pH, temperature, and nutrient contents (crude protein and crude fibre). The result of this study showed that the color change of the silage was as follow: at the 14th and 28th day. The treatment had highly significant effect (P < 0.01) on the color, texture, and fungi of the silage and the content of crude protein, and had no significant effect (P>0,05) on the aroma (smell), temperature, pH and crude fibre. The contrast orthogonal test to the color, aroma, infestation of fungy, crude protein, the treatment of ABC was different relative to those of DEFGHI treatments. This study could be conclude that by wilting of king grass (water content of 60 %), the 1–3 of 3 % of mollases snd 5-15 % usage of rice bran an additive the results are better compared to the usage with additive of cassava cake, viewed from silage’s physical quality as well as its nutrient contents.</text>

<text>Seroprevalence of avian influenza H5N1 in birds in north aceh districtABSTRACT. Avian influenza virus H5N1 infections are an important cause of diseases in humans and several animal species, including birds. The present study conducted to investigate the seroprevalence Avian Influenza H5N1 in native birds from 15 sub-districts of North Aceh. This study utilized 1108 serum samples collected from the axilaris vein (left or right) of birds. The standard Hemaglutination Inhibition (HI) assay was conducted at Microbiology Laboratory Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Syiah Kuala University to determined serum antibody possitive or negative reaction against Avian influenza H5N1. The result showed that seroprevalence Avian influenza H5N1 virus was 4,7 % in North Aceh District. There were nine sub-districts were tested positively by HI test. However, the serum collected from six sub-districts did not react (negative) against Avian influenza H5N1. Based on the results we obtained, a conclusion that natural infection by Avian influenza virus in native birds occured in part of North Aceh District.</text>

<text>Association of small intestine measurements with body weight in broilersABSTRACT. The main objective of the present study was to investigate the association of small intestine measurements with body weight in broilers. Sixty five weeks old unsex broiler chicks (CP 707) were used. All birds were leg-banded and alloted to 60 cage units and than were fasted for 10 hours but water given. All birds were weighed individually and then sacrificed by neck vein bleeding. Small intestine was dissected individually to determine length and wide. All data were subjected to statistical analysis: correlation and simple linear regression, analysis of variance and t-test. The length of small intestine, duodenum, and jejunum/ileum were each strongly correlated with body weight: r = 0,88; P < 0,01; r = 0,71; P < 0,01; and r = 0,80, P < 0,01 respectively. The wide of duodenum and jejunum/ileum were each closely correlated with body weight: r = 0,90; P < 0,01; and r = 0,86; P < 0,01 respectively. Results of study indicated that there were strong association between small intestine measurements and body weight in broilers.</text>

The aims of study to determine the effectiveness of the addition of vitamin E in the washing medium by centrifugation on sperm quality Brahman cattle. frozen semen of Brahman cattle, divided into 4 treatment groups addition of vitamin E in the washing medium: 0.0gr/100 ml medium (K0), 0.1gr /100 ml medium (K1); 0.2gr/100 ml medium (K2) and 0.3 g / 100 ml medium (K4), each group was repeated 5 times. Examination of motility, viability and integrity of sperm membrane performed according to WHO standards. The data obtained were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and Duncan test. The average percentage of motility, viability and membrane integrity of spermatozoa in the addition of vitamin E were significantly different (P <0.05) compared to the control. Percentage of motility, viability and membrane integrity of spermatozoa in the group K2 significantly higher (P <0.05) compared with the group K3: K1 and K0. Percentage of motility, viability and sperm capacitation and sperm live on group K3 significantly higher (P <0.05) compared with the K1 and K0. While the percentage motility of spermatozoa in the group K1 higher were not significant (P> 0.05) compared with the group K0. <text>(Biological test feed intake, population rumen bacteria and ph pellet complete calf starter friesian holstein on pre weaning calf) ABSTRACT. The study aims to assess the quality of the formula Complete Calf Starter (CCS) with 5% molasses instead of milk to the development of rumen microbial calf Holstein Friesian (HF) pre-weaning. The material used is 20 head calf FH pre weaning age of 2 weeks. Feed intake data taken from 20 respondents consisted of 16 females and 4 calf tail male calf. Data rumen bacterial populations and pH were taken from 5 head of cattle slaughtered at the age of 2 weeks (one tail), 4 weeks (2-tailed) and 6 weeks (2-tailed). The study was designed as a descriptive non-parametric. Parameters measured were rumen bacterial populations, pH and feed intake. The results showed the average consumption of dry matter (DM) and CCS calf milk FH ages 2, 4, 6 weeks respectively at 506, 517, 528 grams. Rumen bacterial populations in calves aged 2, 4, and 6 weeks of 80x106, 45x106 and 19x106 kol/m. ruminal pH in calves aged 2, 4 and 6 weeks was 5.71, 5.36 and 5.55. Biological test showed that the use of complete calf starter (CCS) in the form of pellets FH calves at the age of 2 weeks to stimulate the development of the rumen (feed intake, the population of bacteria and pH) but not in calves aged 4 and 6 weeks. This is because the number of bacterial populations declined due to impaired absorption is impaired absorption of VFA marked low rumen pH.</text>

<text>The ability of Lactobacillus plantarum fermented milk to inhibit Salmonella typhymurium in vitroABSTRACT. This research used Lactobacillus plantarum as a milk starter (concentration 3, 4, 5 %) and incubated for 48 hours at room temperature. Observation fermented begin from the first day of this product until 7 days and its still stored at room temperature. First analysis conducted on milk in this research were Storch, pH, acidity titration, fat, and dry matter. Milk fermentation analysis of Lactobcillus plantarum including pH, degree of dornik acidity and microbe activity test. Experimental design used is Repeated Measurement with three replications. Data colected analyzed by ANOVA test. If there is significant different between treatments, followed by Least Significant Test. Complete pasteurization result test (Storch) found that milk stay white, it means that peroksidase enzyme completely disappear and milk completely pasteurization. The ability of suppressing observed by Salmonella typhymurium in Nutrient Agar and challenge with Lactobacillus plantarum fermented milk 3%, 4% and 5% (50 μl/well). Tetracyline, chloramphenicol and a plain paper disc are used as control. Lactobacillus plantarum fermented milk of starter concentration 5%-first day has the biggest inhabitation zone by Salmonella typhimurium (9.39 mm). Range of pH showed between 4.84 to 4.14 and the acidity between 114.67 0D to 365.67 0D. Sensitivity test showed that Salmonella typhymurium more sensitive than chloramphenicol and tetracyline antibiotic.</text>

This study was conducted in Banda Aceh Municipality, Aceh Province to report the pathological changes in liver of Aceh cattle infected with Fasciola gigantica. In this study, livers of male aceh cattles were collected from slaughter area when Qurban in Idul Adha during two years (2011 to 2012). A total of 15 aceh cattle livers were examined. Establishment of F. gigantica were observed, and pathological changes of liver were identified. The result showed that out of 15 male Aceh cattle livers 6 (40%) were found infected with F. gigantica. The common pathological changes found in this study were the hepatic damage, and the bile ducts were changes in size and shape with the dilated lumen. The bile ducts were found filled with blackish brown exudate, which contained adult F. gigantica. In conclusion, fascioliasis is greatly responsible for hepatic damage, and currently expanding as an important veterinary public health problem.</text>

<text>Effect of prebiotic oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit (Metroxylon sago Rottb.) in the ration on broiler performanceABSTRACT. Prebiotic oligosaccharides are thought to provide beneficial effects in the gastrointestinal tract of humans and animals by stimulating growth of selected members of the intestinal microflora. Prebiotic oligosaccharides are defined as nondigestible food ingredients that provide beneficial effects to the host by stimulating the growth of selected microbial members of the gastrointestinal tract. Among the colonic bacteria capable of metabolizing prebiotic oligosaccharides and whose growth is stimulated are species of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. Prebiotic oligosaccharides can be produced in transgli-cosylation reactions catalyzed by glycosidases. Glycosidases from different biological sources have specific ability to catalyze the formation of oligosaccharides with particular chain lengths (usually DP < 7) and predominant glycosidic linkages. Oligosaccharide used this research was purified rumbia fruit extract as prebiotic for feed additive in the ration on broiler. The objectives of this research were to study the performance of broiler given of prebiotic oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit (metroxylon sago Rottb.) in the ration. Two hundred day-old chicks of broiler were divided into three dietary treatments and four replications. Ration used was consisted of: R1 = basal ration (control), R2 = basal ration + 0,4% oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit, and R3 = basal ration + 0,4% frukto-oligosaccharide (FOS). The variables observed were: feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion ratio, mortality, and production index. The result showed that the performances of the broiler supplemented prebiotic oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit (R2) was significantly (P < 0.05) differences between of feed consumption, body weight, and mortality. It is concluded that of prebiotic oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit were able to decrease the mortality and feed consumption at six week of age.</text>

This study is aimed to design the modeling program of 1-D gravity data using SVD method based on Matlab and than apply the program for subsurface investigation based on contras density of the target body. The SVD method was used to solve the inversion code by applying truncation method of the data into some eigen values in order to resolve a better model. Gravity data used for inversion modeling is data generated from the forward modelling code. Inversion modeling program has been tested for several models such as with variation depth and its contrast density vertical fault. The result mostly show a small data error is equal to 0,9908 mGal.</text>
